People have criticised her for that. She's telling people with valid concerns to fuck off lol this isn't iconic, she's nearly 35, she should know better.

This is so fucking messy.
-
Doja is very very trolly, I wouldn't read too much into it
-
Yeah, cancel "culture" is definitely a thing but it's rare that people actually get "cancelled." I can't think of anyone who got cancelled that hasn't bounced back. I mean, James Charles has a TV show now or whatever that weird thing is. This won't impact her in the long run.
-
No one is saying that. Please stop misrepresenting what me and other people are saying just because you don't see the racial implications and don't care to try.
-
I repeat, very few people have said she shouldn't express these views. Recognising the racial insensitivities doesn't mean that the rest of it was invalid. It was poorly worded at the beginning, again, something that loads of people here have recognised.
-
I mean no, not really. People have gone out of their way to explain why what she said was insensitive, the bigger picture, give her the benefit of the doubt, etc. Some people are quick on the draw here and some are frustrated, which translates into what they say and how they say it, but people have gone into exhaustive detail trying to explain the very concept of subtle and unintended racism. Just because you don't see it that way doesn't mean that all the responses are the same as stan twitter's quick memeification, abstractions, and essentialisms, and representing it as that isn't a good look.
-
Because people are allowed to recognise and voice when "poor word choice" carries harmful and ignorant connotations. Trying to shut down very valid concerns because she's "not a fucking linguistic scholar" is completely nonsensical. Where's that energy in the lyric analysis threads? Obviously Stan twitter isn't the place for nuanced discussions because of the nature of twitter but this reads as ignorant and reductive fyi.
-
This sentence alone... please think before you post and don't talk authoritatively about things you don't understand. Lanaboards isn't the place for a discussion on the nuances of racism and racial prejudice to begin with, but definitely not when you don't understand how the conception race has changed over time, the difference and overlaps of racism and antisemitism... lanaboards proves it should only talk about the album covers yet again...

All the artists she listed, particularly Nicki, Doja, Cardi, and Beyonce have faced constant harassment for their art, rape threats, and racially motivated threats. Remember all the lynching threats thrown at Beyonce when she spoke and sang and made art about police violence and visually referenced the black panthers? You probably don't, because you're clearly not interested in the struggles faced by black women artists. Being ignorant is one thing, but this is ridiculous.
-
I seriously hope not. There's nothing she can say that would make people on twitter happy. If she clarifies that she's happy for the women she mentions and says she's a fan, people will say she's backtracking because she realised it was a mistake. If she gets defensive, people will drag her for that too. There's no winning, so I hope she says nothing.
-
No. Please don't try to bring this argument to twitter, it's bad enough already.
-
The blue bit we see is the back, probably the serial number.
-
Agreed but she needs to stop mentioning mostly black artists. Her biggest public beefs have been with Kanye and Azealia, and now name dropping mostly black women... it's hard to disagree with some of what people are saying, particularly Jessy Wilson. I genuinely think her heart is in the right place and I hope she's not paying attention to twitter and I don't think it's a good idea for anyone to go defending her on twitter because it'll all be a bad look. She seriously needs to send chuck her stuff before she posts it when it's like this. Turn it upside down, you can see the title at the top
-
So Stan twitter don't have any nuance. Who knew lol. There's no point in trying to defend her imo, people don't actually care about whether she meant it the way they say she did. They're just looking for a pile-on.
-
I Def feel her and her frustration but namedropping mostly women of color wasn't a way to go about it. Twitter stans will get bored soon enough but no one's going to want to give her the benefit of the doubt after she dated a cop who's racially profiled black people on TV and called him "one of the good ones" lol. I'm just glad she probably won't see that and it'll fade into the background soon enough. I'm here for this Lana, the Lana that tells critics they crossed a line when they go too far (like w Ann Powers), the Lana who posted so openly on mother's day about how the day is difficult for her in so many ways. She's taking no prisoners.
