I know a casual fan who's really annoyed at how it's being handled - he picked up on the whole 'not being properly addressed' thing right away. With her having so many eyes on her recently I just kind of hope that no one in the media looks too much into this. Essentially ghosting your fans for a week after cancelling a whole leg of the tour isn't a good look, no matter how you look at it.

I just rewatched it and did she really say that she's sorry they "didn't know" right up until the day... sure This whole thing is such a mess. I feel like people here (and on IG) forget that casual fans make up a much bigger proportion of the fanbase. I wonder what all this looks like to people that barely know her real name.

Um. The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is near(ish) the Mongolia / Kazakhstan border up in the northwest of the country. Wuhan is in the EES (east east south) of the country. So about 2,000 miles apart. Those issues in China are... complicated to say the least, but making the jump from wanting to wipe out all the Muslims in China to wanting a controlled epidemic to wipe out any non-Han Chinese is pretty big and incredibly s unfounded. As maxthehitman said, new and widespread diseases happen all the time. Fairly recently there was the mad cow disease. During / after WW1 there was the "Spanish" flu. SARs, Ebola, etc. It's only with SARs and Ebola (and now the corona virus) that you get racialised conspiracy theories and fears. The corona virus is just one of those things that's really unfortunate. It only started getting noticed en masse around Chinese New Year, and by then it was already too late to contain as well has it could have been. This is just part of living in the world as humans that are vulnerable to disease. You're never going to have a cure on hand for everything.

Agreed. I don't think I'd pay for another concert ticket again - the only thing that would push me is peer pressure tbh. When £60 is the least amount you can spend on tickets, it's ridiculous to view the tickets as payment just to be in her presence. You're paying for a show. No one expects (or wants) her to put on a show with costume changes and high energy dance routines, but the passion and effort that was there in her earlier tours isn't an unreasonable thing to want or expect. The email with her statement is so disheartening too. There's a reason people are speculating that she's not actually ill. She doesn't seem to care about performing anymore if it's not the hollywood bowl

I don't think she's the happiest she's ever been or w/e. I think she's probably content, but there's a big difference between being happy and being hazed out. She doesn't follow through or put effort into things (her pop-up merch store, the initial album cover, the NFR tour the poetry album lol). Nearly all the NFR song lyrics are dark and depressing, not in the old way, but more like the honeymoon-esque sedated and trapped way. Obviously I don't know her personally or how she's feeling, this is just the vibe I get.

I highly highly doubt that lol. They wouldn't let her cancel a whole leg of the tour of she just didn't feel like doing it. Too many people have too many financial stakes for it to be her sole decision.
