  1. Can someone please confirm where the new leak is please (not any new or to-be-released material, UV-outtake apparently)
  2. I'm glad someone bumped the thread. Listening to the album while biking has really let it grow on me and realise that it's really not like a lot of her earlier stuff that you can listen to and daydream about because they're so vivid in their imagery compared to NFR. Having changing scenery and moving while it plays has really made the difference to me. Wish I could drive just so I could listen to it while driving alone tbh.
  3. I think she's just very prolific tbh. She differs from a lot of more mainstream (ik she's pretty mainstream but not quite there) artists in that their albums tend to be much more manufactured, songs not written at all by the artist, much more of a given direction etc. Lana during the Lizzy period (and BTD to an extent) seemed the opposite - much more throw a bunch of songs at the wall and see what sticks. I think she's a lot more confident in what she writes now and knows what works and what doesn't, but her having the say she does over her albums and the direction they go inevitably mean she could change her mind on a whim and scrap any number of songs and add some older unreleased ones
  4. Hearing Damage in the new moon chase scene is such a chef kissy choice
  5. Yep! The director, Catherine Hardwick, wanted the Cullens and the cast in general to be much more diverse (explicitly wanted a Japanese actress to play Alice) and Meyer shot her down completely, said that she saw the Cullens as one way only (white). I think that her saying that she would only cast a black actor in the role of a villain is a misinterpretation. Catherine Hardwick looked through the book for any hint of a sign that a character could be a poc and Laurent is described as being olive skinned and she pointed out to Meyer that olives can also be black, so Meyer relented. There's also a weird connection between vampires and Mormon teachings (3 days to become a vampire after a bite, the melanin in the skin is "burned up" by the venom so all vampires are white...) Interesting thing to look into, esp with the way she portrays Natives.
  6. I rewatched the films back at the start of quarentine - I remember finding the first part of Midnight Sun back when I was a kid lmao. I think around this time last year I got kind of into looking at the "science" behind the lore. There's some really interesting things, like the logical-ish reasons vampires sparkle both due to a predator-prey attraction and what happens on a cellular level in a book Meyer published. Sadly while the films are nice easy ways to pass the time I find the books unreadably bad. I'll probably find a way to read midnight sun without giving her any money (look into the connections between twilight, race, and Mormonism, as well as the shit she's done to the Quileute tribe) and give the money I would have spent to the Quileutes.
  7. I'm not sure if I'm getting at what you're implying but imo any possible childhood traumas aren't something to be dug into or that should be made public.
  8. This. On one hand it's so comforting to know that someone like Lana doesn't have perfect relationships with her mother and I'm sure many people feel comforted and less alone, because mother's Day is so difficult to so many people. But it makes me so sad for her. People speculate about her so much (like that critic) and read so much into what she does. She rarely posts anymore, let alone posts anything as deeply personal as today. I feel like a lot of things about her are falling into place.
  9. That she wishes she had a child and was a mother
  10. Oh wow, that must have been amazing! That's what I mean though, he's really supportive even though a lot of her (old?) Persona is having daddy issues etc. If her dad can see past that and be supportive, you'd think her mom would be too. I think it must be something else, but I don't think it's worth spending much time speculating
  11. She sang daddy issues in a concert and is still fine w her dad as far as we know though
  12. Agreed but damn post it on another day
  13. There are already charities doing that though. I'd much rather she give what she has a lot of (money) instead of doing a vanity project like this when charities and organisations already exist. As someone has already pointed out she's using her platform to boost small businesses, which isn't nothing. Could she be doing more? Pretty much all millionaires could be doing more. We don't know what she's doing behind the scenes, if anything. It seems a bit pointless to go round in circles when we already know where she lies politically.
  14. What tf is going on here lmao Agreed
  15. He's on some propaganda show to try and make people love cops and see them as heroes instead of what they really are, so I'm guessing someone who knew them both figured they'd get on. Or who knows, maybe she slid into his DMs, because for all the fronting she used to do about living on the edge, breaking the law, taking drugs, etc she seems very comfy settling down with a sketchy small-time actor-cop.
  16. Not this again. People are allowed to be annoyed that something that was meant to be released on Jan 4th has been extended indefinitely with the only confirmation that it's still in the pipeline being an album cover. We're not /owed/ it in the same way we don't owe her streams, pre-orders, etc. It's really not unreasonable to be a bit peeved that instead of giving any updates she's active only to post this type of thing.
  17. An ad for a woo-ey skincare thing... keeping us fed for sure.
  18. I honestly doubt they're still together. The six month contract ran up for a start, and he seemed way too intense and willing to be involved than she seems to be going for - she's been so low-key lately. Hopefully she's taking some time to be single, but knowing her she'll come out of quarentine dating some republican congressman and telling us he's one of the good ones idk.
  19. That her fanbase has disproportionate amounts of women and LGBT fans is something that isn't really a new or radical idea though - obvs people will come at this from different perspectives but it's interesting to consider the overlaps of shared experiences of a lot of her fanbase and why that makes them relate to her
