I hear "that's when dying is beginning to breath"

She'd rather die and, in a sense, 'live another life in death' than settle down.

A few months after our release of the Diet Mountain Dew remix featuring Jay-Z that Mike Daly, one of the writers of song took notice of, we ended up putting out another Lana remix, which ultimately served as a single from our Lana Del Rey remix EP title Lana. The remix was to a Jay-Z song called Hello. Which featured vocals from her. Taken from an unreleased Serial Killer. & She took notice it. & Not only that, she sort of gave it her stamp of approval. & When she did, i literally was really appreciative and humbled. Even if it was brief lol. & Once again, i grew to become even a stronger fan of hers. One day soon im hoping to hear from her. & Probably even play her the EP if i got the chance, and just ask her what she thought. As well as speak casually. But until then,

    Thank you Lana, truly.

  5. MafiosiPrincessa liked a post in a topic by FirstSpider in (Shades Of Cool) The Automobiles Of Lana Del Rey
I'm absolutely obsessed with cars, they're my passion. This thread is to catalogue the cars Lana mentions or uses in songs and videos.

    Cars in songs:

Shades Of Cool - "He Lives In California Too, He Drives A Chevy Malibu"
Lana's referring to the bread and butter midsize sedan, the backbone of the Chevy lineup

You Can Be The Boss - "He has a white corvette like I wanted"
My guess is that the car she is referring to is an Olympic White Corvette, probably a C1, C2 or C3

Hundred Dollar Bill - "Jimmy pulls up in his blue Chevy Nova"
The Blue she is referring to is most likely Danube Blue, or Mist Blue. Probably the 2nd Generation model as it's the most collectible.

National Anthem - "Take me to the Hamptons, Bugatti Veyron"
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know she is definitely talking about the Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4. there have been quite a few different special editions made.

Back To The Basics - "Sit Back In My Pink Cadillac"
I'm assuming the Pink Cadillac would be a reference to Elvis's car which was a 1955 Fleetwood Series 60.

This Is What Makes Us Girls - "Stealin' Police cars with the senior guys"
When Lana was 16 three police interceptors would have been common, the Dodge Intrepid, The Chevrolet Impala, and The Ford Crown Victoria

Golden Grille - "Drivin' in your Escalade"
We all probably know the behemoth Cadillac SUV piloted by rappers, drug dealers and soccer moms everywhere, It's been through 3 generations now. Golden Grille was from 2009 and by then it had entered it's 3rd iteration but as the song is obviously written about an earlier time, and the Escalade in production today was released in 2007, It's very likely a second gen model she's singing about. The first gen was largely playing catch up to the Lincoln Navigator and didn't get to enjoy the sales of it's successors as it was only built for 2 years.

    Jump - "Cadillac convertible"
    Eldorado? DeVille? Allante? XLR? Series 62? it's anyone's guess. It's very likely that it's a 1959 Series 62.

On Our Way - "Kiss me in your Chevrolet"
Another mystery car, It's clearly a convertible as well. Corvette? Nova? Corvair? Bel Air? Impala? Camaro? Blazer? Caprice? There are quite a few possibilities, I like to think it's a Corvair.

White Pontiac Heaven / Axel Rose Husband - Well, she says it in the title...
Again, this could be pretty much any white Pontiac. She does seem especially fond of the Fiero though.

1949 - "We in the Pontiac from July to July"
Same story as WPH and ARH it really could be any pontiac.

Every Man Gets His Wish- "We in the Chevrolet from July to July"
Just like 1949, WPH, and ARH it really could be any Chevrolet.

Driving In Cars With Boys - "Momma's Mercedes or Billy's Pickup Truck"
Who knows what kind of truck she's referring to. Anyone know if her mother drove a Mercedes?

Heavy Hitter - "Open up that Lamborghini"
Once again, this could be any number of Lambos, the Miura, Gallardo, Espada, Countach, Murcielago etc.

Hit & Run - "Pick me up in your white Lamborghini"
Just like HH there are quite a few possibilities for this one

Playing Dangerous - "Let's get in the back of your cop car officer"
Well she doesn't even give us an era for this one, there's no way of knowing what kind of PPV she's talking about.

Come When You Call Me - "White Lincoln Continental"
The Continental nameplate has been used by Ford for their Lincoln brand for 9 generations before it was cancelled, it could be any of these, but I think it's worth noting that she used a white Mark V Continental in the new music video (see photos below)

Hawaiian Tropic - "A bottle of Jack in the Cadillac" "White Corvette under willow trees"
This is the only time she mentions the Cadillac in this song so we have nothing to go on as far as the exact model. It could really be any Cadillac prior to the 2009 Model Year.
The Corvette she mentions is most likely the same one she refers to in You Can Be The Boss

Heartshaped Chevrolet - "kiss me in your Chevrolet"
As the Chevrolet line is the same as in On Our Way it's pretty obvious that the chevrolet she's referring to is the same Chevy Convertible

Hot Hot Hot - "Black tint glass on your cherry red car"
Who knows? It could really be any red car...

Big Bad Wolf - "Escaping in your cherry red car"
    Same as above.

*I have recieved a tip that one of the aforementioned Chevrolets is from the 1967 Model Year*

    Cars In Music Videos:

Born To Die - It appears to be a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 that the couple crashes.

Summertime Sadness - Lana's own 1981 Mercedes-Benz SL is used.

Ride - A 1975 Cadillac Coupe DeVille is driven by the guy who picks her up.

(The car in the Photo is a Sedan DeVille, Just Imagine it without the rear doors)

National Anthem - A 1956 Ford Thunderbird and a 1963 Lincoln Continental Convertible are used, similar to the ones owned by the Kennedy family, as well as a 1950-53 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible.

Blue Jeans (Original) - There is a clip of what appears to be the bonnet of a Jaguar XK 140

Lana Is also shown in a truck in this video. It's a 1955 Chevrolet Apache/Task Force. the grill, bumper and headlight bezels have been painted white. the same truck can be seen in at least one other photo shoot. This particular truck can also be seen on the cover of Born To Die

    Burning Desire - Obviously a Jaguar F-Type

Several AKA Era Videos -  I have noticed more than one Pontiac Fiero in the original Lizzy Grant clips that have leaked. Clearly Lana has a thing for this car.

Diet Mtn Dew 2 - The Ford Del Rey is used. This is where she got the Del Rey script with the three circles. Don't run to the dealer lots just yet, the Del Rey was only available in South America.

Tropico - Lana is seen in a Spring Green, fender-skirted 1952 Chevrolet Bel Air Rat Rod (Potential clue to the song?). In typical rat rod fashion, the car is missing most of its stainless and chrome trim as well as the actual convertible top and frame. the Chrome grill has been painted and the car features a continental kit. She is also seen with a white Lincoln Mark V.

Shades Of Cool - You'd expect Lana to use a Chevy Malibu, since it's what she ints about in the song, but instead her tattoo artist friend pilots a 1967 Pontiac Firebird Convertible.

At one point a 2006 SAAB 9-5 SportCombi makes a came appearance over Lana's shoulder. It's given away by the SAAB signature hockey stick shaped C Pillar and the tiered tail lights

    Cars Lana Owns:

    1981 Mercedes Benz 380SL
As seen in the Summertime Sadness video, Lana has a gold SL class

    Jaguar XK
Lana did the whole horse and pony show on the hood of Jaguar's new little roadster, the F-Type, but she actually owns it's big brother the XK. The XK is considerably larger and more powerful than the F-Type, they actually share the same platform though (The F-Type's was shortened). Lana's XK is in Ultimate Black Metallic.

    Jaguar XJ
This one is important for those of us who don't like in California because the XJ is Lana's preferred mode of transportation. No doubt she owns her own and is seen driving it frequently (All I could find of her driving it were interior shots), but in other places she is almost always driven in one, so If you're at one of her shows and you see an XJ pull up, chances are it's her. Rob Grant also owns one as well. It's Jaguar's full size flagship. Lana appears to have the SWB model. Here's the best photo I was able to find on short notice of Lana with an XJ. You can identify it by its signature teardrop shaped DLO and the Alutian alloy wheels.

I'm sure I missed some, let me know if you have any more information to add or if you know the ones I missed.
We're still waiting to see what new leaks will bring to the table, I guess only time will tell.

There are a few male artists that I have a celebrity crush on, but if there's one I can say I may be in love with, it's Angus Stone. He carries this wanderlust-fueled, free-bird energy about him and his music; everything about him is so beautiful, and I love his beard.

He was part of the sibling duo Angus & Julia Stone, but both of them have started their own music careers, too, so I figured I'd keep them in one post and just show their stuff all together. Julia's absolutely gorgeous as well, I love her voice, though I haven't taken a peek at her solo work entirely just yet. I'll post some of her stuff when I get more familiar, but I'll at least show some of the tracks she sings from when they did work together. "And the Boys," "What You Wanted," "Walk It Off," and "Choking," are some of my favorites that she sings, so I put links up for them.

    Happy listening!

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

I really commend these recent interviewers from Dallas (102.1FM) and Alice from San Francisco (97.3FM) for properly researching Lana and bringing all the positive feedback to her attention. They left such a great impression on Lana with all the praise. The interviewer succeeded in making her feel the love from the U.S.
I hope Lana adds these cities to her American tour!

Does anybody else remember Lana’s interview with Megan & Menace Mornings back in November 2012 where Lana was evidently bothered by her leaked songs? lmao I guess it only took ~8 months for her to have a change of heart with the whole leak situation.
Can she release an album with the leaked songs already?????!!! All of those songs are golden $$

I honestly prefer to think Lana is using this "US doesn't care about me and doesn't know how to treat me" as a form of marketing than she actually believes in what she says. Just think about it: for many european countries and other countries the fact that she doesn't care about US is actually a attractive thing. All that turnoil that Lana milked as much as she could (Lana or Ben probably both of them) helped her career quite a lot in Europe and South America.

But like any MKT strategy you can't repeat it for too long otherwise gets old and boring. This US doesn't love me thing is getting on my nerves for a while now. Obviously she cares about her charts in US.  Lana obviously knows she is doing well there. US is a huge market like Europe or South America. And to have a career one have to sell albuns and ticlkets to concerts. Since you could fit Portugal into the State of NY and still have room for a island or so you must think that she cares at least for the porpuse of her career about US. TBH I think she is going to do a couple concerts there. Lana likes fame and wanted to be a famous singer. That's what she always wanted. I think she wants to be famous and recognized in US and to top charts over there. Even if she is critical about US  lots of times, as anyone should be about subjects in general, aka "I believe in the country America used to be" she really feels like a US girl.  Which is only normal since is her country, her memories are there, her childhood, friends, cultural background and all that.

Time to change MKT strategy because is getting old.

exactly! the range of ages for this brand is what....13-16? teens are highly impressionable at that age and most will defintely use their ability to ~fit in~ to the brand as a confidence booster for themselves. At least, that's what I've generally seen. it's a twisted sort of business strategy in that way. It goes w/o saying that his comments were very rude and hurtful, the thing is that this isn't anything new in big fashion name stores.

All brands target a specific audience, whether or not they speak of it is where things differ. Walk into any major brand store and you'll be sure to find that the employees and most of the customers reflect the brands general aesthetic - this guy just happened to voice that in his statement. He may lose some money from people that have issues with what he said, but I don't see that majorly affecting his overall business. Especially during summertime, Abercrombie is constantly flooded with people and I don't see it slowing down anytime soon. Summer, Christmas, and back-to-school are all times where that store is surprisingly always loaded with people of all different sizes(!), ages, and races. With that being said, I actually only see this guy's vision falling through with his employees because it doesn't necessary reflect all of the people that continue purchasing the brand. I've seen plenty of 40+ year olds in A&F clothing and I'm also pretty sure I've seen young adults that would be considered overweight in Abercrombie/ A&F clothing. Maybe the reason for the continued demand -despite all the controversy- is that Abercrombie and A&F are brands that are (mostly) easily accessible and the pricing isn't even ~expensive~
His shallow opinion doesn't seem to phase a sufficient amount of people from tanking the business of this guy or any other similar minded “luxury” fashion store owners.
It's sadly the way of the fashion world.
Let me also just say that I kinda laugh anytime people refer to Abercrombie as a "luxury brand," and I say that as a former A&F employee of 2 years. Despite the impressions Abercrombie strives for, it's anything BUT luxury since the price points and quality of clothing aren't anything worth considering as luxury. and by that i mean it's cheaply made clothes thats overpriced for it's bad quality. you're just buying into the brand

So we got to the venue around 1pm so we'd have a good place (hopefully near the barrier), but the queue was really small and we managed to get into the priority queue which was fabulous! We knew Lana would be arriving at the venue at some point so another girl and myself waited around the stage doors while our friends held our spot in the queue. We kept meeting the members of Kassidy (except Barrie) and other random tech guys/security people which we kept asking about Lana's arrival. We saw some fairly interesting stuff:

After waiting in the wind and rain and hail and occasional sunshine for 3 hours, a random guy told us to wait by the stage doors further down and that she'd be here in a few minutes. I found out that he was a 'fan' (aka autograph collector who sells her signatures for money) and so has met her several times. Finally, she arrived! She saw my flower crown and sort of gasped and smiled and I was about to take a picture but my stupid camera wasn't working so she went and signed some people's things, and took her time! Honestly, she was so so genuine and lovely.

She went inside (but only to put down her handbag) and a few more people had gathered round (fans + paps) and some annoying couple had pushed in front of me ('Lana please have a photo we need to drive home to London Lana Lana...') so after she had seen to them, another girl who had just had Lana's name tattooed on her boob, she went inside again and was about 2 minutes. She came back out with her bodyguards and they each were holding about 5 copies of the limited edition Paradise boxset (that sold out!) and they had all been signed by Lana. Everyone was holding their hands out for one, and Lana had one copy left and looked up at me and put it in my hands, then went back to signing things. Alas, some other girl had her hand on my limited signed Paradise and snatched it out my hand! Then had the nerve to stand directly in front of me (I probably would've been next to have a photo with Lana) and she got her photo. It would have made me angrier, but Lana was right in front of me and I kept blurting out things like 'you're so pretty!' 'you're perfect!' and she had this big gorgeous smile the whole time, and she was like 'I'm not!'. Her security people kept saying no to everyone who said 'can I have a picture please Lana?' but she replied 'stop telling me just give me 2 more minutes' and Lana carried on signing away. Anyway, after these other basic hoes who hadn't been waiting for 3 hours had got their pictures, I FINALLY got a picture with Lana and my friend, and I look like a mess but she is adorable.

I'm going to have to make a separate post about the actual show lmao, but I forgot to mention she kissed my cheek!

    WHAT IS EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT.

I love this song. I can imagine this is what her songwriting process is like. She gets bored and opens up Garageband, gets her little notebook with lyrics up and she sings into Garageband. Adds a little reverb and echo to it. "Oh it sounds good, better add some harmonies" and then she has to fucking work out the harmonies by herself and record them in time.

The fact that it's a personally recorded demo track means it was probably found when her email was ransacked. She probably emailed this to a producer like "I wanna do a song like this, can you help me out?"

This is a Lana song in its purest form. There's a copy of Cola sounding like this somewhere, ya'know. What if we never had Cola and that demo leaked. We'd probably all hate it- let's be real here. I really like this song and I hope we'll find a studio version of it soon. I mean, hey, we got a studio version of 1949 as Every Man Gets His Wish so we can still hope, right?! :-)
