do we really have to do a history lesson here on how having negative views on LGBT people inevitably extends to all minorities, how these attitudes are prevalent in society anyway and how christianity itself has continuing roots in white supremacy and heteronormativity, whilst also being a powerful institution that influences stuff like government? particularly when they're a cult-like branch with ridiculously rich attendees. i'm having another stroke. some of you all really need your eyes more open

The difference between homophobes and 'heterophobes' is that one group has political power over another. Violent hate crimes, such as the lesbian couple being beaten up in the U.K. 
 
Hillsong and churches like that might not be burning pride flags and openly using slurs westboro style, but that shouldn't be where we draw the line. Quietly tolerating subtle forms of homophobia leads to violent backlashes against any progress made, something which is found over and over again throughout history. Let grandma call gay people f*gs in private and one day she'll slip up and say it in public. Let cooky fringe politicians rant about the evils of abortion and in a few years you'll have the situation in Alabama, and Roe v. Wade being contested, maybe even overturned. Say nothing as celebrity churches give nothingy statements on whether they think gay people are going to hell or not, don't be surprised when it comes out in a few year's time that they've been funding those cooky fringe politicians. I've said it before and I'll say it again. As a member of the LGBT community, I'm not accepting quiet hatred, and I'm not only viewing outright physical violence as the only valid form of oppression.

My point was there's a big difference between going to a church you've been raised in and might find comfort in the routine and familiarity, and attending a specific church sect different from what you were raised in, like churchome / hillsong. That link doesn't say anything about conversion therapy. It's just wishy washy 'we love everyone!' bull that reeks of 'hate the sin and not the sinner,' and that's really not concrete or enough for me to shrug it off. The catholic church are making a woman who had an abortion into a saint. Do you think that makes them pro-abortion? Or, more likely, do they still see abortion as evil but see a chance to gain some progressive points by canonizing someone who confessed it as a sin? It's a similar thing here. This is how people end up being dragged into these culty messes. Afford them nothing and read between the lines.

Going to a traditional church as in religion and not believing every word of it =/= going to a specific church as in building which has homophobia as one of its core beliefs... yikes.

1. She goes to that church in the evening every Wednesday, and that's when the weekly service is. It's all on the website. Therefore, it's unlikely she's going there for any other reason.
 
2. The majority of people are not saying she's homophobic, but rather, that she doesn't care and/or doesn't know that she's associating herself with an organisation that is. As you say, ignorance is not an excuse.
 
3. I agree that she seems lost af. The fact that this church is cult-ish is extremely concerning. I'm going to be blunt. She's rich. She's famous. She doesn't come across as a well-adjusted person, and never has. I'm not trying to insult her; it's just a fact. It's part of the appeal. Cult-ish organisations prey on people like her.
 
4. Friends don't let friends go to homophobic cult churches.
 
5. Not that she has been interacting with anyone of late, but I think she would still interact with fans even if she was homophobic. Plenty of people "tolerate"/pretend to like LGBT people when it's convenient for them to do so, especially when money is involved, which it is.

OT (also not really but..): This whole Lana being homophobic thing reminds me of when people were convinced Taylor swift voted for trump lmao I don't blame people for thinking lana has such beliefs with going to this church and all but maybe she'll have a "political awakening" like T-Swizzle. Or just throw a pride flag on stage during one of her festival dates and see what she does.

Honestly at this point if she releases NFR and MAC, VB and Hope are part of the tracklist I'm gonna be so pissed. I don't care how good they are (Hope can't relate tbh) because they're almost one year old and I'm tired of them already. Imagine she taking months to release an album we've already listened to four tracks in full and almost two whole minutes of another three? This album was doomed from the start.
