I’ll say though, Fire Drill being left off really soured the EP for me. Possibly the best song to come out of this era and it’s been snubbed !! ):

I'm holding on to the idea that she could just surprise release the album sometime (relatively) soon because of the promo she is getting for Midnight Sky. Hopelessly thinking she says she won't release it soon just as a lie to suddenly drop the album

i really think she should be more personal and generic in her albums, after school ep shows how her songs are better when she doesn't talk about a specific story line or topic. kinda like cry baby, it was way more generic (in themes) and less specific. 

This EP is amazing! This is the best writing I've seen from Melanie in years.

The dynamic of k-12 was so specific that the album felt like a soundtrack. This EP is better because the songs have broad subject matter!

This EP isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.. Idk what some of y'all are on about lol

this is waaaaay better than k-12  i think i like these songs better because they're more personal and theme-wise much more interesting

This definitely sounds in the same vein as K-12, and I'm still not super into any of it. Like it's not the worst thing ever, but it feels like we've been in the same era for five years.  

I think I still am not over the fact we got I Talk to Jesus. Even Life Is Beautiful is great and we were waiting for it YEARS, I think I can't belive we got the beautiful piece of I Talk to Jesus. It's pure greatness.

The promo trail for this single is just insane. She is firmly in her prime and hitting her stride

also all her new music kinda has something weird about it... it all kinda sounds similar, boring ass choruses, weird themes, not enough new vocals/production on the last choruses
 
Music in 2020 (at least for me) is all about the BANG. Like it needs to reach into your soul and HIT YOU. And she just hasn’t released anything of the sorts.
