How To Disappear 3% is still too high. Love Lana but Jack needs to watch his pay cheque cut in half for butchering that song.

Watch us, The Thirsty Gays, on day 1 of a new album release, pluck drama out of thin air, as we reach page 22 of a thread titled after a non-existent new record and 0 info.

I don’t know how to do the spoiler thing, so sorry ******SPOILER THING*******

Alright, I’ve just come out of the rabbit hole and I think I need another ride, but I do need to get something off my chest real quick : whatever on earth and hell were they thinking when they did HTD dirty like that? It’s horrific. Like I legit had to stop listening and start anew with California after a few minutes to be able to get back into the tone of the record for how bad it is, the arrangement is meaningless and I never thought I’d say that but Coachella is decent compared to how bad HTD is. It was such a beautiful song, totally ruined.

That said, I’ve been surprisingly pleased with HIAB, musically it’s a lot less cheesy than I thought. California is wow, stunning, probably my favourite alongside Bartender and Venice Bitch which I think it’s the highlight of NFR.

All in all, I expected it to be more in the vein of MAC and VB but it’s like there’s no recurrent musical theme, which is what makes a record coherent for me. In a way it’s like L4L in that there’s lots of different elements, but better and more inspired. I don’t know if it’s because she has so many good songs that she doesn’t want to leave them on the cut room floor so she just throws them in there or if she needs to take a little more time in between records to create an uniform vision. But I do like it, everything except HTD, and thank you for your help but that’s enough Jack Antonoff.

How to Disappear really is the worst song on the album. The vocals, the production, the mixing... All of it had so much potential. How did they approve this? God...

It’s so horrific, when those Christmas bells came in I had to laugh, I honestly cannot begin to imagine how someone who’s worked in the industry for that long and with that experience could allow for something so incredibly crappy to be put out on a record like ugh

Basically, a drum track (the high snare hit and the the surfer rhythm beat) is missing on select physical copies of the album. The digital versions will be the single version that we heard on the music video. Now we have this mob mentality and people are being hysterical and saying it ruins the track, when in reality we just have two versions to enjoy.
We all know the real evil is that fucking elevator marimba on HTD.

Ok hear me out , this is going to be a lengthy dramatically gay theory about the cover, specially after reading her “hope” interview. What if she’s holding her hand out to get us onboard but ALSO asking for help? In her interview she talks about how she considers herself a matriarch amongst her friends but at the same time how some of those friends and even herself had to suffer through certain situations (I think she might be referring to sexual favours and patriarchy in the industry. She is never really clear about that but you can tell that’s where she was going). She swapped the car theme for a boat and a man she is holding on to, who is almost entirely pushing her aside (on the CD pic) but she still needs to cling on to him if she wants to survive, and she’s at sea, which means she is not steady and is subject to currents. In a way she still has hope (MAC and the cd ending with “hope” is self explanatory) but maybe she’s tired of the patriarchy and being manhandled and maybe this is what “the greatest” is about, not specifically that she’s done with singing but maybe she’s set some boundaries with certain power people and now she doesn’t know if these people are still going to support her art; this might also be true of VB, where she sings “I’m fresh outta fucks forever I’m trying to be stronger for you (the fans)”.
Or maybe this was just all Chuck’s doing lol

Can't wait to listen tonight, got my bottle of red wine and a joint rolled. Gonna take a light night stroll once I'm finally alone and live it up.
