I actually understood everything she meant. And I kinda agree with Lizzy. She is not dismissing the problem of capitalism but is more so pointing it's root. Narcissism is where it all starts. And the madness of Trump has exposed so many people and their true intentions through out this year and through out his presidency. I liked her commentary on that. She even agreed that her behaviour can be quite impulsive and reactive. I don't know why people find it "problematic". It's just the fact that she jumps from one topic to another that is super confusing.

Okay this interview was obviously a mess and she sounded all over the place, but I also think she made a lot of reasonable points that people will take out of context. The only really cringey parts where when she brought up race again, I don't know why she keeps doing that. We know she's not racist so she needs to stop overly explaining that she's not because the general public won't take the time to understand her and she's gonna get thoroughly dragged. What she was saying about Trump's delusions of grandeur, and how the people storming the capitol think that they're a part of a revolution and they have so much disassociated rage were really interesting. She is also right that Trump didn't cause all of this, it's been brewing forever. He did of course encourage it to come out in people. I also agree with her that self-obsession is such a huge problem and it contributes greatly to the climate crisis and the horrors of capitalism. I don't think she was implying that narcissism is worse than climate change or capitalism, but rather a cause of these things and should be viewed as seriously.

I really do hope she's okay, and also think the title track offered some insight to how she's feeling. In the song it's like she's asking us to let her be, because in the grand scheme of things she's doing nothing wrong and is tired of being judged for being who she is. Lana will always be misunderstood and even if it's often her own doing, that doesn't mean she deserves the aggressive hate that gets thrown at her.

Thankfully, her art is way too powerful for any of these controversies to ruin her reputation. In the future, as people continue to evaluate her contributions to music without the bias of her drama, it will be very clear that she's an icon.

    Same sis!
Also I feel like we're missing something. Lana's interview was pretty manic. Almost like it was meant to. Maybe it wasn't, but either way, it came across as a bit manic.
It reminded me of her iconic video interview with interview magazine.
Before this video  I'd never seen that manic side of her. I feel like there's more to her crazy interview's recently.

well sooner or later it would have happened tho, because reforms are not moving forward. trump isn't the reason, why america is the way it is now, it's been going on for much longer. but the he was the cause that bubble burst in the end and exploded in everyone's face. let's not pretend, it was all sunshine under obama
and for one, lana wasn't wrong, when she said it was necessary. people would reflect back on obama's presidency and say it was a "breeze", when the same problems still existed. all because of the stark contrast trump sends off. the issues brought to light should now be tackled tho and no longer ignored.

edit: just saw under the tweet, that people are blaming trump for the raise of far right parties. please, it all started with the refugee crisis before trump

annie asks the most braindead questions and babysits the conversation lana literally had the most competent and relevant intelligent things to say about last year out of anyone ive heard talk about it

Too bad Annie didn't repeat her question about the sound of the album and went with the polical question instead.

As a Courtney Love and Judy Garland stan I thought that was an extremely eloquent coherent interview

I listened to the interview and thought it was a mess

But now, I'm transcribing the interview atm (to post it here) and actually I think she made perfect sense. She's just a little bit incoherent with her wording

I don't think she said anything that crazy, or sounded so incoherent for that matter. It's probably hard to be perfectly articulate without sacrificing her comfort and candor. Everyone expects 'the right thing' to be said, but not everything that doesn't adhere to that expectation is the wrong thing. She just spoke candidly about her experience during the past year and what she's observed and reflected on and I think that's fine.
She's a singer, not a politician. Yes she can be a little ignorant and tone deaf, but sis has Never been politically intelligent... It'd be preferable if she spoke about it less, especially unprompted, but to be fair Annie barely asked about the music and focused more on how Lana was doing.
My only criticism is her refusal to take into consideration where the race and diversity conversations are coming from in regards to her because I do think she should be open and receptive to that versus being so defensive and refusing to even consider it... But I do also understand wanting to avoid tokenism and doing things for the wrong reasons.
I haven't listened to the second part, but I enjoyed hearing her thoughts and where she's at, even if it was a little kooky...
