  1. It’s obviously way too soon to tell, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Blue Banisters competes with NFR! as far as critical acclaim goes. I’m really anticipating the record to be her most mature work to date, but I could see it being divisive among her casual fans because it may not be packed with “bangers.” We’ll see!
  2. Lana is the only artist I know that could pull off a line like this while also making it sensual and fitting her lens of Americana lol
  3. After listening to the snippet for a bit, these are the general vibes I got: •Melodically & Vocally: Afraid •Instrumentally: French Restaurant •Lyrically: Yayo, maybe? Definitely something from her earlier, more sensual tracks What does everyone else think??
  4. The “Toyota/Land Rover” line is so Lana; I can’t completely tell whether I think it’s a bit much or effectively campy, but I know this song will be getting a ton of streams on my end. We’re getting fed imo
  5. maybe this is just me, but the snippet feels like such a throwback to her earlier work but more matured. It almost reminds me of her BTD-era live performances with just her and a piano. Hopefully that makes sense lol
  6. The snippet reminds me of a cross between Video Games and Afraid in the best way possible
  7. can darla anonymously post some fake lyrics to keep the thread going or something lmao
  8. Your list is iconic, and your efforts paying off is definitely something to be proud of!! Everyone needs a National Anthem era at least once lol
  9. In (somewhat) chronological order, I *think* these would be mine: Ride, Black Beauty, HIADT, California, Fine China, Get Free, Change. Out of the 7 songs I listed, I think California has the most semblance to my life: The month before NFR! was released, I decided I wanted to “propose” to my now ex-boyfriend when he returned home from a trip. The day I decided this, he cheated on me before I had the chance to ask. His mental health was rapidly deteriorating (which played into him cheating), and he then told me that he was permanently leaving the US to start his life over. It’s a little embarrassing to think about now, but I begged him to stay, looked after his mental state for months, pick him up when he was drunk in places, etc. The record was released the next month, and hearing Lana pleading with the song’s emotionally unstable subject to come back to America was rough. He cut off almost all communication, but one day I saw a post of his on Reddit—I almost didn’t notice it but remembered we followed one another. The post was mostly about how he lost the love of his life and how terrible and unstable he was becoming. “I wanted to reach out, but I never said a thing,” later took on a different meaning, and it still freaks me out how much the song mirrored my life. side-note: now in a much healthier, happier relationship lol
  10. The title is pretty self-explanatory, and I hope everyone has some fun with this Conversely, you can also choose a single song that really captured a certain event or milestone in your life—feel free to elaborate as much or as little as you’d like!
  11. imagine if we hear nothing in 3 days about LDR8 & in September she announces the lead single from her new country record produced by Nikki Lane: Barrel Racing Through Birmingham “album out next month—god bless” (it comes in December) Side-note: I don’t actually want this to happen; I just like watching chaos ensue on LB lol
  12. all that's real to me is marilyn & jesus jumping off of bridges sparklers & streamers, honey i wanna fly, i wanna fly, i wanna fly vs A gatekeeper carelessly dropping the keys on my nights off. I’ve been tearing around in my fucking nightgown: 24/7 Sylvia Plath.
  13. the last line of this song always gets me—such a perfect analogy for an imbalanced relationship dynamic where one party cherishes the other despite their carelessness. she popped off with this one lol
  14. me telling myself that maybe ben was bluffing to add more shock to the surprise release
  15. I’ve been wanting Lana to revisit jazz for so long. If Textbook & Blue Banisters (and potentially Thunder/Summertime) are any indication of where the album is headed, I could totally see the record being a blend of Honeymoon and Chemtrails (the records). Production-wise, I feel like it’ll be a cross between DLMBM, Heroin, and White Dress…and maybe this is a stretch, but the lyrics remind me a lot of Heroin, White Dress, Change, and HIADT—really confessional and just vulnerable in general
  16. If Gabe Simon is the main producer, I’m really interested to see what direction the record takes. His work with Lana (including Summertime) seems to have gospel & jazz influences—to me, at least. I wouldn’t be surprised if WW is the only track produced by Mike Dean for LDR8. He’s known for being really synth-heavy, and I almost wonder if he adapted his production style to better fit the soundscape of Simon’s work on the album. I have no idea how likely that is, but yeah lol
  17. Does anyone have any idea how much involvement Mike Dean has on BB? Gabe Simon’s Instagram caption from May has me wondering if he’s the primary producer and Mike Dean’s WW was just an addition tacked onto the record to tie together Lana “telling [her] story.” It’s a little confusing, but I’m curious if that’s why Mike Dean emphasized his future work with her. I honestly hope I’m wrong because I love WW, but we’ll see! Any thoughts or any comments from Mike Dean that might imply otherwise? I’m mot super caught up on LDR8 news lol
  18. Omg yes!!! I’ve always thought her voice would suit this so well—probably would have fit COCC pretty decently, too
  19. Other than the fact that I like that Lana continuing the 1, 2 title track pattern.. I think Blue Banisters opening the record makes so much sense. In COCC, she closed the record with a cover about looking longingly at an artist who plays for free instead of fame. Transitioning into Blue Banisters would fit well considering it almost mourns the fact that her fame seems to have cost her a relationship, hence, “Most men don’t want a woman with a legacy.”
  20. she renames the album to “Daddy’s Girl” and clarifies the July 4, 2022 release date lol
  21. I love how subtle the atmosphere builds on the three singles we’ve heard so far; these few moments with their respective songs are some of my favorites: •“Old Man River keeps rollin’/With or without him.” •“Summer comes, winter goes/Spring I skip—God knows.” • “I’ve been running on star-drip IVs/For so long…” Her producers are honestly doing such a great job at letting her vocals and lyrics carry the tracks while also tacking on (for example) little hushes of ambient noise where it counts. I really hope we get a diverse range of soundscapes on this album, but I’m pretty satisfied with what we’ve seen so far!
  22. POV: it’s July 4th & Lana’s Instagram notifications go off & everyone moves You’re waiting for the video to download & you hear her utter one word: “Sylvia…”
  23. Does anyone remember how Lana’s last Instagram post regarding COCC’s release ended with the following: “Until we meet again, I’ll be out here somewhere Running with the wolves.” I can’t help but wonder if—especially considering the lyric-like formatting—that this will be an important theme or lyric for LDR8. Lana is known for ending records with lyrics that act as a “jumping point” for the following album, and I’m excited to see how that post may potentially shape the next record!
  24. she looks so young in that last photo!! Is that an old picture or?
