Lana and Jon probably wrote a lot during their session(s) but I wonder what were the other songs for since it seems only CN and LL were considered for the albums they were going to release at that moment
-
I've checked his store and even though it's on the tracklist as a bonus track I don't think there's any version without the Lana song (even the digital album has it) so I'm sure they'll play it. What I don't get it's why is it considered a bonus track if a standard version without it doesn't exist I hope it's not a Buddy's Rendezvous situation where it's not on streaming to boost sales (I doubt it tho)

I hope she announces something tonight (or in the coming days) since she doesn't have any shows for a while after next week's -
Insiders teased something (SYTH) a few days/weeks (?) before the album and we got the song in May so I guess we'll still have to wait a bit if it's related to more unreleased songs coming or even a full album/compilation I guess she will announce something once the tour is over (or at least the summer dates)

When it's the (second) lead single of the collection and that's why they wrote that -
Anyone can fake those messages and say anything but if they are talking about the studio in Alabama I think someone who works there confirmed she recorded 3 or 4 songs

I don't think it's her but everything (specially the way she touches her hair) is SO Lana -
She's obsessed with blinds

They were probably just in a silly goofy mood 🤪 in the studio or something I think it was also kinda her introduction to the record and Jack to us (similar to the UV pictures with Dan Auerbach). Maybe allusion to the "I'm your man" lyric from MAC too
-
Specially cause it makes no sense to put it in the setlist and never perform it If it was a brand new song she wanted to debut live she would make sure to sing it at least once or do a little acapella teaser like she did with WC and HM back in the day

I agree that cohesion is important in a record (HM and Chemtrails are my faves for a reason) but luckily even in her least cohesive albums the songs are still somehow grouped in a way. For example LFL has a lot of different sounds but they are like segments of the album (the classic Lana tracks + ballads, the folky songs and the bops). Same with Ocean which in my opinion is really cohesive, it's just that the last 3 tracks are way different than the rest of the album I feel like Lana has a too distinct and iconic sound to ever do a truly not cohesive record like it sometimes happens with artists that just create playlist-like albums with songs that are given to them. I think songwriters as a whole usually have a minimum cohesion on their records just by the fact that they tend to be in a particular headspace when creating their albums

Yeah same. I wonder if writing really personal and heavy songs made her want to switch it up thematically or if it motivated her to continue down that diaristic path. She's probably going to still use her automatic writing/singing style but that kind of freestyle can give us such different songs like PWYC and Fingertips

I don't think we're getting a big break between albums this time either (even with the ongoing tour and the alleged Unreleased Collection coming... I'm sure we'll have a new song by spring. She's been writing since before releasing Ocean Blvd (as usual) and she was in the studio working hard in March, again some days ago in Alabama and probably many more times that we don't know of. There's also the really likely possibility that she recorded some songs with Jon with the next record in mind cause I doubt they only did two songs for their respective albums and an interlude. I don't think she has any clear concept of a record yet of course but I'm sure she has a lot of stuff already as she always does
-
Maybe something from the Ocean Blvd sessions but I doubt we're getting anything from BB or before since she used all new material for OB. I prefer all new stuff even though I have to say I'm really curious about LYTAN (and Zodiac but that one seems more plausible)
-
They are promoting this HARD. They keep reposting the link and posts I wonder what's really coming cause I doubt it's the tour since she keeps casually adding dates without making a big of a deal about them (so if there's a tour I don't think it's the only thing we're getting...)

White Oleander tells the unforgettable story of Ingrid, a brilliant poet imprisoned for murder, and her daughter, Astrid, whose odyssey through a series of Los Angeles foster homes-each its own universe, with its own laws, its own dangers, its own hard lessons to be learned-becomes a redeeming and surprising journey of self-discovery. Very Lana coded
