"Video Games" music video turns 10 today
sunday afternoon replied to Trash Magic's topic in Latest News
One of my favorite Lana songs of all time, thanks for the reminder. It will always make me cry, no matter where you put it. 10 years already, I can not believe it. I can't believe Amy wasn't dead then and that they could have collaborated.- 46 replies

Born to Die: 10th Year Anniversary Re-Edition?
sunday afternoon replied to americangothic's topic in Lana Thoughts
It would be a dream. She has enough material to make a complete edition of each album in addition to unpublished photo sessions, videos that she did not release, anecdotes, documentaries, interviews, newspapers, goodies, texts... And the list is long as she is an artist with so many possibilities, she could put out anything that it would be interesting to explore, especially in these iconic eras She often says that Born to die is her baby and has a very special affection for this record, she will inevitably refer to it next year. It remains to be seen if she will be in the mood for a reissue, she goes through the projects at full speed and does not really land, so go back to an old album to refine it I do not know if she will. Which would be a missed opportunity, yes. I hope at least a documentary made by her relatives or by her even if she does not do the rest -

COTD was an iconic album, incredible the whole world was shaken by the quality of this record and of this Madonna who gave so much of herself. But her last years her albums are a disaster and there is not much that can save her. I don't think she would drag Lana into this dance world since her best is over, so who is. The place where she excels is the melancholy walks, she has remained intact (Voices, Messiah ...), if they make songs of this scale the world will not be ready -
@BluebirdXO Yes I understand that, it's true that our friends sometimes have nothing to do with our decisions but I noticed that Lana was a bit like that, and that her albums and her attitude changed over the people she dated. But I agree with you with this view of things.

I rarely come on this thread but I listened to Cry baby again a little while ago and I forgot the flavor of this album, it is great from start to finish. The music videos were something. An era of high quality and milimeter. She was only 19 when she did such a project, I forgot how strong enough it was. I unfortunately got off the hook since her second album which I found far below, despite the visual efforts it must be recognized (and the film a little hard to understand), I do not like at all the light pop twist that she takes. She deserves to make a more solid album and no indie pop sounds that came out of Soundcloud. After school is not interesting and her character is starting to seriously run out of steam. She must reinvent herself while keeping her identity because her latest projects are now preventing her first and best Cry baby from shining, who is drowning in too much pink and blue.

I love the amount of songs she gives us but I'm starting to tell myself that Lana should put the brakes on her projects because there is a pretty considerable loss of interest. She's a person who certainly has thousands of projects in her head and she has trouble channeling it all, it goes all over the place and we don't really understand anymore... She's an artist that I love and I don't mind having as many songs from her as possible but since these last 2 projects she's been on the decline, I think she should take a break just to think about everything. I think her entourage influences a lot on her way of perceiving things and doing her albums, her friends are children of rich people in LA and you can feel this unnecessary lust in her songs, it's not luxurious like Ultraviolence where the universe was super interesting and deep. She needs to hang out with people who I think have a real identity, daring musicians, not with those little b*tches who seem to hang out with Lana because she's popular. I don't remember anything about her last album apart from Tulsa and Yosemite, it's not for lack of trying. I would like her to come back to her deep voice and come back to the fundamentals, heavy sounds with guitars if possible or more hip hop. I overdose on her whisperings and minimalist albums.

So what ? You talk about Marina as if she was very, very rich except that her fortune is really small compared to American artists and other continents. She certainly makes a good living but I don't see why she in particular should be criticized for her money knowing that she made her way alone, without help like some people... In this case criticize all the artists you listen to because they are all RICH. What you say doesn't make sense.

I know but it's a little frustrating. After all, she's a free artist but it has to stay consistent -

I love Lana's homemade magic but this cover is... It's really like taking a photo from our phone and adding a title with random handwriting with a lousy filter. There is no magic here. But I think she's cheating on us, I know the visuals won't be like that. There is something to do much better with random applications, shit Lana you're inventive I know you will find better! In terms of the music I'm not really excited, I don't think it's going to release something powerful for us, it's going to be a country album made quickly between 2 cigarette breaks and a walk in the fields of Alabama -

That's it, It is a summary of his musical life going from album to album, a little of his life. That she adapts and becomes the star of her albums with a character that she changes to the detriment of her simple everyday style. Nothing on RSC, just a question. -

Is it me or does she release an album quickly after every relationship ends? Ultraviolence Her promotion was stopped (the clips never came out) when she was no longer with Barrie. Honeymoon, the same happened with Francesco (Honeymoon the video and Salvatore never officially came out) Lust for life, G-Eazy has changed things a bit deep down (I wouldn't be surprised if Cherry was intended for him) Norman Fucking Rockwell was broken up because of Sean by doing quite quickly on the Chemtrails project. Chemtrails is already on the forgotten floor since its breakup with Clay and it continues with Rock Sweet Candy. Hope she keeps a boy longer so we can enjoy a great holding -
This album is special to a lot of us, and I love the way you describe your memories on this one. She's an artist who has one of the best discography I agree, this record is a perfection. I'm not bored, and I like the B-side songs too.

I have the impression that Lana found friends with whom she spent more time and forgot Marina a bit, or the other way around, I don't know either. It must be said that Lana's friends are quite special and must certainly keep her warm in their bubble

Tori is amazing.

Lolita (Nabokov) for the 11th time. It's cliché but I really love this book, it's a ritual every year in the spring.

You said it all. I don't like Jack, he's not suited to his world. He made it generic and has trouble entering his world. Lana needs to come back to the producers who made her successful because they manage to capture this sound and this melancholy perfectly. She's not like all those basic indie singers that Jack could produce and give songs without a universe, Lana has one more thing, much bigger. She's really good when she has great orchestrations and catchy songs. I don't think she should walk away from her mentors and stay with a winning team, I know they will know how to develop her in their own way. She has some interesting lo-fi / acoustic songs she made in her early days, but Jack wasn't on it and it had a different flavor, more amateurish and rawer. His pop songs were cute and stuck in the head. But the sad part is that with NFR she finally got the recognition she wanted from the critics, and I think she wants to work with Jack on that too. The critics are so crap to consider NFR his best album. Chemtrails would be perfect as a B-side album, not an official album.

I feel sad for her because I see all the controversy here about her texts which are admittedly questionable, but she made so much effort to bring us back to what we liked about her I'm not English so I don't feel the lyrics like you do, but why argue about it when other artists are doing much worse and appearing on television? There have always been stupid and offensive things, but Marina is very soft on this subject. I love PTP it's a real bop, I love everything about this era. Marina is back and I hope the critics aren't going to overwhelm her, seize the moment guys, if it doesn't work out again she might give us more and more generic albums and we don't want that.

You say it yourself, she lies constantly. One thing put me in the ear is her cosmetic surgery done at the time (a real poor person does not waste time for that and even less in the United States, and photos were leaked at the time. but impossible to get hold of it, she is with all her family in front of a private jet, and in very rich parties and I think she must have been 20 years old at that time). For the rest, you know it's not everyone who can afford to make a clip in Versailles because it has to be privatized, and except for big celebrities and big fortunes it is not like that, in fact that to me, looked really weird at the time and then it all came out when her daddy's rumors came to light. I think she was really rich but her background is just atypical and I don't blame her for that because I like the fact that she recognizes the real things and that is quite rare in the world of stardom. . I love Lana for that too, her simplicity and the fact that she doesn't deny these things. I love his family and they seem really nice. But I don't like it when Lana keeps coming back to talking about it as if she had known misery when in all fairness, it shows that she never really knew it.

Lana feels poor in the sense that I feel she is more human and closer to people, she has always liked to get out of her mundane circle and be around the poor (the trailer park, the homeless, alcoholics associations). It's a quality but I can't stand her bringing it back every time she has never experienced real poverty, she has chosen it as a way of life, as a way out of her rich cocoon but d 'come back to it. always for safety (she only stayed a few months in an old mobile home during the AKA adventure before returning to her luxury loft in New York with her sister). It is true that with all the respect I have for her, without her father and his connections, she would never have succeeded, at least in the whole world, and that is why it remains exceptional. The start of her career was very expensive and very luxurious (I remember the first concerts in Paris which were in expensive places, clips like Born to die made in Versailles for an unknown singer ...), so I see where she wants to go with the poor thing of life and i feel like she has it under control but complaining and remembering that she lived a shit life, ah Lana i don't believe you at all and i dont would never have mercy.

Oh my God this clip, this peps, this energy I feel like I woke up in 2015 and found her again! She is magnificent! The shot with wet hair and her see-through dress she is absolutely rock n roll and reminds me of her beginnings when she was very young is incredible The title is too good, and the title of the album is absolutely brilliant and the visual I do not mention, it's great art. This is where I expected it, thank you Marina for listening to your fans! This album is going to be high quality like Froot! I haven't been so excited for an artist for so long ...

I would always be a fan of Lana with her color a little red from Born to die (as in her very first interviews and in 2016 above with the beautiful hairstyle) and the bloody black of Honeymoon (Billboard 2015), she is really very very beautiful. I also have a weakness for the blonde of the Lizzy era but today the blonde does not suit her and makes her more vulgar I find.

Blue Banisters - Pre-Pre-Release Thread

Blue banisters sound wonderful. But I think it will be a poem, I don't see it on his next album. Who knows, Lana often posts things that come out of her head, it turns out she won't (even if I hope so)
