crazy to think that her best era (to me) to this day is dollhouse ep. two iconic music videos done with minor budget (especially dollhouse which was crowd funded), a great tour where she had fun and was always adding and changing the setlist to keep it fresh, fun interviews and photoshoots, and we even got amazing live performances on her channel... oh i miss the goof ol days
 
cry baby era is also a testiment to the fact that melanie works better with a restricted budget, but i feel like she was so spoiled with k12 that now she refuses to work if it isnt exactly the way she wants it do matter the cost

i feel like the crash era had so much squandered potential... like it started out super high concept and interesting but then it just sorta stopped. i think charli got bored with it. shes not a conceptual musician shes a vibes musician

Ok In The City is really cute!! I actually really like it. Definitely fun and I think the radio would eat it up too. I personally expected more with the drop but as I said, this song is just really fun. And Sam's verse is so overhated. Y'all are kinda forcing it learn to enjoy stuff lol. I can defo picture this song being blared on Radio 1 Friday Nights, i won't lie i did find the chorus after sam's verse a little extra but as i said, its a fun song. Sorry for the absolute repetitivness I really cannot be arsed to type a pitchfork review rn

to pretend the hate sam gets is not for the fact theyre fat and non binary is very disonest. it really has nothing to do with the way they dress by itself, its the fact that they are dressing like that while being fat. nobody says a thing when its a skinny/muscular man doing it.
the same goes for their current music. is it good? no. but the amount of hate they get is just completely disproportioned, and its only bc of their appearance, you never see this type of vitriol being thrown at ppl who make much shittier music but are inside the beauty standard.

victim blaming someone for wanting to exist as their most authentic selves in the public eye without receiving death threats every day is actually an insane take
