  1. Absolutely adore this thread. It's great work, my hats off to you guys in here. Answering a lot of questions I have. I will say, the people naysaying this thread have not begun to scratch beyond the surface of Lana and her work. I don't know how anyone who's been following this woman as long as me or even later years in her career cannot see all of these things being discussed in this thread are very accurate and in tune. It's a lot deeper than we will ever know. I hope she tells us one day. Candidly. Her next album is going to be fun to dissect. I feel like she took it back to the start with Did You Know....finally vocalizing some of the things we already knew she experienced (being sent away, her rough relationship with her mother, experiencing loss at a young age, and just her general circumstances during these years) I haven't fully caught up but I'm curious why you guys think she finally opened up with songs like Fingertips and Kintsugi....what is she trying to capture or execute there? In one interview from this era, I remember her saying people were encouraging her to "explain herself" Norman after Lust For Life was a very drastic transition. Take into account Lust For Life was somewhat of a "commercial" album for her, or at least I personally think the intention was to capture those more "pop" leaning young listeners directly, with the imagery and the sound, as opposed to that of Honeymoon. I can't verbalize it but every move after Norman makes sense to me, COCC, BB, DYK....it almost feels like she is closing a chapter. I thought about this the other day, after it hit that she was going to do a Country record, perhaps Did You Know served as the final chapter of the Lana Del Rey we know thus far, she did sign off at the end of the album afterall with TT X VB. I think this because the album just sounds very mournful yet healing and accepting. So it was so fascinating for me to read the "death" of Lizzy that occurred in 06. I wonder what ignited this transition. It would be cool if the sleuthing thread could try and dig deeper as opposed to just trying to chronologize her relationships.
  2. The Grammys award commercial success, and all of the other albums sold more and spawned big hits. Even if you think Ocean was better than them, it just couldn't compete. Plus, Taylor had too big of a year for anyone to think she was not walking away with her album wins.
  3. I agree that it's a weird relationship. On paper, it makes total sense, but there are also somewhat stark contrasts of each other. But you're right, Taylor is a good ally to Lana and has used her platform to shout her out multiple times, so why are Lana fans getting online being petty and annoying about her losing nominations when the Grammys have always snubbed her?
  4. The think pieces about Taylor are embarrassing. This is not the first time Lana lost multiple Grammy nominations in one night. It's not Taylor's fault. Let's be real, Lana had little chance of winning ROTY & SOTY with such tough competition with Flowers, SOS, and Midnights all being commercial smashes. Her best bets were the Alternative nominations, but she lost those too. It's sad, but we can't place blame on Taylor. Lana is a grown woman, if she didn't really want to get on stage, she wouldn't have. She was probably supporting her friend. Lana knows very well she is an underdog even though I'm sure she really would like a win. But some of y'all are the same people who tried to convince yourselves Lana lowkey doesn't like Taylor so.....whatever I guess.
  5. Oh she’s done for…..Lana, we wanted pop diva. And I doubt she’s going to be doing Kasey Musgraves country. I might have to grow up and unstan at this point. We’ll see I guess……

  10. Quick searching I did: While the record deal establishes ownership of and royalties paid on the recordings made by an artist for a record label, the publishing deal is all about exploiting the copyright in the songs themselves (ie, melodies and lyrics), and ensuring that the songwriter gets paid whenever they’re played on the radio, online or live in front of an audience. There are hundreds of publishing companies operating in the global music industry, spearheaded by the heavyweight likes of Kobalt, BMG and Warner/Chappell. No matter how big or small any given publisher is, though, they all serve the same purpose: maximising the income generated by their artists’ songs. As well as doing everything they can to get the original recordings of those songs licensed for public play as often as possible, this also means convincing other musicians to record and release cover versions of them, thereby multiplying the revenue stream. Someone who has more knowledge can confirm but I don't think this impacts anything really? Hopefully the group she is with now is good and can maybe get some more exposure for her.
  11. I agree, she got too many noms to go home empty handed so it’s safe to say at least 1 win is secured. I have a hard time believing A&W will win given the other nominees to be fair. I feel like they will go with a safer option for that category but who knows. But just for the song to be nominated there alone is a huge win for her. Istg, if this ends up her only win, I will personally assault one of the academy members. This is a threat.
  12. *ALSO* I am on the hunt for a user on here who I saw discussing Heavy Hitter lyrics a long time ago. I remember a specific comment regarding the alchemy lyric. Can one of you ID yourselves if you read this please? I'm very interested in the discourse I saw happening
  13. 2023 was great for leaks. I feel like we got a lot of songs that really spoke to Lana's mindset at the time, which I thoroughly enjoy because I'm so fascinated and amazed by her. Melancholia Come With Me Madly Pink Champagne Crazy For You and so many more I'm missing But these songs definitely paint a clearer picture (for me at least) about what Lana felt and was going through. Imagine how GUTTED I was reading Come With Me lyrics for the first time! Wow, I really hate that for her. But she came out on top like we always knew she would. But yeah, this was such an iconic year for leaks. I mean the fact that we have Madly and Pink Champagne alone is completely earth shattering for me. But everything else???? We were really fed a buffet this year. So many beautiful beautiful songs I love them all so much And how could I forget California?!?!?! Hauntingly gorgeous and breathtaking....

We don't have Shakiez right? I need that sf bad, is there any release date or something?
  21. I think people are just really fascinated by her vision and her work ethic, and overall talent and ability to craft such specific type of songs so effortlessly. She was NOT lying about churning out novels in Brooklyn Baby. Someone needs to hold her captive and record a 5 hour interview asking her about all of this so we can put it to rest once and for all.
