The "Bubblebath" EP was clearly reminiscent of Gwen Stefani. I remember the Lowlife era/very beginning stages of the Poppy Project mentioned No Doubt & Gwen as inspirations. The "That Poppy" era. Excuse the low(ish) quality, I don't feel like scanning my copy. Gwen is mentioned in this Teen Vogue interview from 2016.

The current Rolling Stone publication is glossy, at least the cover, I prefer a more "paper" texture. I still hope to find a copy of "Interview" in stores - I'm assuming the inner pages of RS won't be as flimsy as Interview imo. I recently got a magazine for a Poppy article and it's also a ridiculously big size . I also really liked the article inside (even if I don't really have opinions on most of the pictures). I do think that photo of her lying down reminds me of the honeymoon era shoot, of her lying on the horse.

FINALLY this clicked! Listened to it one or two times and it wasn't really for me until about yesterday/earlier today. I had it on REPEAT whilst cleaning . I don't think I cared for the brazenness of "whore" being in the title, odd, because I usually like other "slutty" songs - but Jacks comment for Rolling Stone UK adds to why I now like it, IT'S A HORROR STORY - "This is the experience of being an American Whore ." Wow, thought I wouldn't care for this interview for some reason, but I quite liked it! Finally excited to hear the album after my initial intrepidation. I think it's sweet that she has the guys in mind, as certain "audiences" for her music. BTD may be an album with overarching themes of yearning, but it's still upbeat and fun . Off to the Races & MDM streams going UP after this ! If only she got a RS US cover too, or at least the same article being published inside the US edition .

Hm, it seems I was possibly correct about Poppy moving back to Sumerian Records. It didn't add up in my mind that they would tell her to make TikTok content. She's been known to easily jump from label to label, and I'm assuming the "Stagger" EP didn't make the waves it was expected to. I don't know what Republic Records was expecting since there really weren't any tour dates or festivals to support the release, there wasn't any TV performances either ....could've had the MV dance....she couldn't do that live though, hmm . I know there was distribution of the record through Alternative Press, AND Revolver, those haven't been pressed and shipped yet. I guess this makes more sense since Church Outfit does sound more "Sumerian". Archive

Do you mean the insinuation from this slide? This was technically posted very late February 28th, 2023, but I captured this on March 1st during a VIDEO screen recording. AB was mostly talking about New Bottega aka old Bottega and some sort of "bidding war", I'd have to rewatch it and make a transcript or upload it.
