Hello Lanaboards Community! Today I would like to introduce you to a band that I think is absolutely worth listening to: Slowdive. This British rock band was formed in Reading, Berkshire in 1989 and consists of Rachel Goswell (vocals and guitar), Neil Halstead (vocals and guitar), Christian Savill (guitar), Nick Chaplin (bass) and Simon Scott (drums). Slowdive is known for their unique dream-pop and shoegaze sound, which enjoyed great popularity in the 1990s. The band has released four studio albums, three compilation albums, five EPs, five singles and four music videos. Their debut album "Just for a Day" was released in 1991. Although it initially received mixed reviews, their second album "Souvlaki" is now considered one of the best albums of the 1990s and one of the greatest shoegaze albums of all time. Slowdive disbanded in 1995, but reunited in 2014 and performed at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona. Since then they have been active and released their self-titled album "Slowdive" in 2017. Their sound is characterized by atmospheric harmonies, psychedelic guitar layers and ambient production. Influences range from folk rock to dub to ambient techno. The band members themselves name bands like Sonic Youth, Can, The Byrds and My Bloody Valentine as sources of inspiration. Since we are all Lana Del Rey fans, I thought Slowdive might be an interesting addition to our musical discussions. You might like her dreamy sounds and fascinating melodies if you like Lana Del Rey's atmospheric songs. In anticipation of their new single "Kisses" releasing in two days, check out some of their music on YouTube: Let's discuss Slowdive here, share their albums, songs and influences, and maybe even find out if there's any overlap between Slowdive and Lana Del Rey fans. I look forward to hearing your opinions and thoughts! Have fun exploring Slowdive! 🎶

alright, but they do art rock and are critically high acclaimed, and Lana isn't even art pop

Creep / Get Free is the only common thing I can think of.

Lana should do what she feels most comfortable with , not what others expect her to do or be.
-
just because there's a very popular artist on it, all classical musicians will hate her now

thinking about that we get no honeymoon posts the next weeks and months makes me sad

What’s your favorite non-lyrical part of a song?

I like all the 'boop, boop, boopty doo' and 'ooh-ooh, b-b-b-b-b-boy' in Gangsta Boy -

we need more new unusual song ideas like Textbook, because it gets boring when everything sounds the same -
The shock still runs deep. Does she need more distance to her fans, were the last weeks too stressful for her, or is it just the end of an album era? Many questions...

Does anybody like every Lana song that she has released???
bluechemtrails replied to MakingOut's topic in Lana Thoughts
not all, but I accept that Lana's fans have different tastes and not every song is for me -
all instagram accounts with 'honeymoon' in their name have lost, including @honeymoon_angelsingers

we have paid for our Lanz Del Rey and we want to have our Lanz Del Rey

Another opinion, but I think this album is not made to be played from beginning to end for everyone. I think the songs are chosen in such a way that everyone can find the kind of songs they like, which is not easy because there are so many different tastes. So it's not so unusual or bad to exclude some songs.

Ultraviolence Anniversary UO Vinyl Repress
bluechemtrails replied to fishtails's topic in New Releases
a vinyl repress for the 9th anniversary is so random that it can only be Lana's idea -
I like this LDR signature, it's like a smiley. And do you want to blame Lana for changing her signature once or a few times to make someone more happy?

I'm not good in birthday wishes but this one from an ai is so funny 'Hey there, Ultraviolence! It's your 9th birthday, and we just can't help but chuckle at how you've "F****d Your Way Up to the Top" of our playlists over the years. You've been the "Sad Girl" soundtrack to our lives, and we wouldn't have it any other way. So, let's raise a glass and toast to the "Cruel World" you've helped us navigate with your dreamy tunes. May you continue to be the "West Coast" breeze that keeps us cool in the "Shades of Cool" for many more years to come. Happy birthday, Ultraviolence! Keep on being the "Brooklyn Baby" that makes us "Pretty When We Cry"! 🎉🎂🎶'

I think if Ben and Ed have their way we'll only get unreleased music like SYTH for the next two years.
