I already know this album is going to send me into a deeper depression because I've recently been contemplating a lot on shame and where I feel shame in my own life, how it affects me, what I do to cope, etc. and this album feels very shame-centered with the "perverted" narrative and the story behind Punish

First review of the EP from Uncut, 6/10
If the critics don't like it, you know it's gonna bang baby! I wish they expanded more on Etienne

Not that this influences my enjoyment of an album, but I hope she does not get shit on by the critics this time. Preachers Daughter was an amazing album and publications like Pitchfork and reviewers like Fantano tore it to shreds by saying it was too long and derivative of Lana.
Ironic that the same ones who used to trash Lana can't stop comparing every female artist to her these days for the most ridiculous reasons.

also can y'all stop complaining she literally has over 100 songs counting unreleased y'all can go listen to instead if you hate ambient music so much. the rest of the album is clearly going to have more similar vibes to amber waves, punish, and housofpsychoticwomn than it will her 30 minute long sound experiments on soundcloud that she posted exclusively to there for a reason, no one is forcing you to listen to ashmedai and it's a completely different project from the ethel cain project

oomf's oomf so like take it with a grain of salt LMFAO but I believe he has direct contact with her sooo
i'd add Grouper - Alien Observer to that ambient list, one of the most beautiful projects i've heard, specially Come Softly

Some ambient albums that I think every daughter of cain should listen to whilst we wait for Perverts
Narrowing Type - Good Night & Good Morning (Ethel called them the best band in the world, recently preformed a shorter version of Punish live with them, their music is all lively composed. 10/10 album imo. It's rich, airy and beautiful) Inca Ore/Grouper - Grouper & Inca Ore (Collab album by Inca Ore and Ethel's fave ambient artist oat; Grouper. Echoey dark folk) they are never coming back - Wulven (Dark-ish drone record, Ethel toured with this band. I Have Seen The End and It Is Beautiful was in her top 3 fave albums of 2022) The Body Lovers - The Body Lovers (Michael Gira side project following what was formally the breakup of his main band Swans. Similiar to "Soundtracks For The Blind", intended to be the final Swans album released a few years before TBL project. SFTB also is one of the greatest albums of all time.) The Winter Ray - Natural Snow Buildings (I think the majority of NSB's very long catalogue would appeal to a lot of fans of Ethel, this album is one of their best albums. Very cold and eerie. Off topic but if anyone wants to get into NSB's other albums I made a tracker for archive purposes that's pretty much got all the information on their albums. Ghost Folks is another recommendation I have for Ethel Cain ) Purge - Crystallisee (not rlly drone music but it's a very dark ambient album. like darkly textured horror music almost.) Against The Wood, Opposed To Flesh - KAVARI (Ethel is a massive fan of KAVARI, Glasgow DJ who does dark edm and hard bass as well as ambient. Last year she released her debut album which was recorded in the span of 3 days. truly spooky shit)
If anyone wants more lmk!

I'm not sure about Anthems, but the version you shared is from the same session as Devil Town, and they're both from 2011

I really like the song Inbred, I just wish she didn't have that vocal effect bcs her world building in songs is actually really good and idk whatever that effect is takes me out at times , but I want to dive deeper into her discography cause she has cool concepts and I actually love her youtube channel lol, she just seems really creative and interesting

If I made an album as lit and as amazing that's Preacher's Daughter I'd be proud to call it one of the best albums of 2022
