I'm listening to her discography for the first time and Tug of War is better than I expected. It's very chill and pretty. My favorites are Bucket, Tug Of War, Heavy Lifting, Sunshine On My Shoulders and Worldly Matters. I had only listened to Emotion a couple times before so everything will sound fresh to me (even Emotion cause I never really paid that much attention to the non singles)

now where is Hello Goodbye feat. Tove Lo 

I'm really craving an electropop album 

Joker was awful but not because of anything gaga did, bad plot bad script and direction. I think gaga needs to return to music for a while and have a break from acting, but they really screwed her over with this movie.  I see madonna fans are up with there walking frames calling her a flop again,  until she get’s nominated for an Oscar and LG7 is successful.

So I ended up making my own version of the tracklist, including some songs that I think are vital to the album and I ended up with 28 tracks in total…

I just can’t imagine playing any song from this record a second time. It’s true it’s not a laughable train wreck of an album, at least in terms of the music, but it is painfully, painfully boring and devoid of any real point of view. Not a single moment of any of the songs lifted my spirit or perked my ears up. 
 
Lifetimes and Wonder are the closest we get to something good and even they feel like they would be filler on a good pop record.

i love the girl so confusing remix so much, everytime lorde's verse starts i get shivers like wow.. her power! this is the first time i felt charli got outshined in a feature, usually it's the opposite. i mean just look how she obliterated poor sis elio in charger and even gaga on 911 remix

Went to the listening party! Still gathering my thoughts  Meanwhile someone already leaked the whole thing so probably it doesn't even matter what I think but here's my review of the new tracks!!
 
 
Honestly if I worked in an H&M I'd be pretty thrilled. It's a totally listenable album, just not even close to holding its own against everything else this year. If I want dancepop or house or electronic music, I can go so many other places, especially this year. I'll definitely play the album once or twice, but I already know I'm not going to think of it when I want to dance-- I'll think of Tove Lo or Charli or Chappell or even Camila Cabello. Katy Perry is capable of so much more than "slightly above mid" or "danceable when somebody else plays it in full out of good speakers." Also somebody tried to take a phone call (I was in a record store) and I felt bad for them. Hope you guys like the album though!!

Makes me think that the plan is for it to come out on her birthday (the 17th) but the label mixed up the dates when uploading it and set the release for this Tuesday instead of next one

Im with you on this one skinny legend, it always baffled me that she couldn't get a pop producer for 1989 TV, Red TV i understood why especially since we had shellback for the pop songs on that there (and the fact that it's just 3-4 songs) but, she seriously couldn't keep shellback or get a new pop producer for atleast the other 5 singles and the Bad Blood remix

I don’t think her break-up with Joe has anything to do with the re-recordings being bad. I just don’t think she cares that much about having the re-recordings be as good as they can be, since the average listener won’t notice much of a difference anyway. (Some might disagree with that but you really can’t convince me she couldn’t find someone better equipped to mimic Max Martin’s detailed production for 1989 TV.)
 
As for Midnights and TTPD, I think the bar was set pretty high by folklore and evermore and Midnights/TTPD didn’t live up to it. I wouldn’t call it a sharp decline, she just dropped 2 of her best albums and the 2 albums that followed it weren’t 2 of her best albums. Imo Midnights and TTPD are better than Lover. Lover has some of her best songs but as a full body of work it’s kinda a mess. If Joe had that much impact on the quality of her music, Lover would’ve probs been a better album, considering he’s the lover in question…

I hate to pull out the misogyny card out but- crediting a man for the "best works" of a female artist is certainly- interesting...
