I love DA and PDCM. I feel like DA would've needed a rework to be sonically cohesive on the album (just because of those trap drums, my dad always says they remind him of a james bond film?) PDCM was amazing and should've replaced You on the tracklist imo. I just feel like You is a watered down version of PDCM, if you get me?
 
My DREAM L+F tracklist is as follows:
 

Demons & Angels and Please Dont Call Me are BOPs!!’ 
 
Also L+F is too long, a 11 song run would have made It better in my opinion. Also the double album idea is getting old and over used like Heaven and Hell by Ava Max or Sasha Fierce by Beyonce. 
 
My problem with her is not the topics or her being “political”, she already did that in EH or FROOT, Its the aproach! ADOML sounds like she is trying too hard, in the same lane of Witness from Katy Perry… i Don’t know, It doesnt feel organic… 
 
Feels like new artist are trying to recreate ROL or AL by Madonna but they force themselfs to talk about topics that dont feel natural to them (Not the case for Marina, she has always done that, just now with less sucess) Even Madonna has some cringey moments when It comes to discuss social issues (im so stupid… im looking at u). With Marina is the same, when it hits It hits (Savages, Sex Yeah, Immortal) but when It doesnt… Yikes 

Marina advocating for animals via Twitter and Instagram. It makes me lil vegan heart so very happy (and also the part of me that wants to END SeaWorld, MarineLand, and all other marine parks). 


 

 

 

Was just listening back to the 2018 Captain Cuts version of Karma and yeah Jack really bulldozed that for what  That demo is amazing, has hit potential, we did not need a mean version of Baby

I fucking hated Froot for so long. I wanted EH Pt 2. The only thing I liked was the title track (my god will I belt that shit with my off-key vibrato like nobody else; car alarms go off every time), but then one day like 2 years ago I was like "Ugh. Fine." and gave it another go, and just - Blue. Forget. Savages. They HIT. 

See I agree, because there are some great tracks on the released album and some really great outtakes, but at that point.. it isn’t L+F anymore it’s just a fanmade album
 
and while a lot of those changes would make the album more bearable for me, I still feel like it lacks.. importance? a purpose? idk 
Whenever I hate on L+F I definitely only mean the version that was released, it had potential to be different and be enjoyable for me personally, however what was released just wasn’t. oh well, the past is the past

I've said this before but after swapping some released songs with some of its outtakes, L+F is enjoyable.
Try removing No More Suckers, Orange Trees, Baby, Enjoy Your Life (bop but naive af so no), Life Is Strange, and add Water Under the Bridge, Demons + Angels, There's Nothing Wrong with You, Please Don't Call Me, The Art of Letting Go... + swap some released x demos (Karma, You) and there's actually way much more consistency in it. I just wish she would've done it instead of us lol.

Hi, me popping in. As someone who is a creative in the music sector, things can go through multiple changes, reworks or whatever else because a lot of us are perfectionists. Also after the final tracklist has been decided upon and the tracks have been mastered, there's a period which is at least 4 months long of gathering promotional assets for the album (music videos, photoshoots, behind the scenes content, ect.) Also if Melanie is planning to do vinyl as well, there's a fat ass delay on vinyl. Last article I read said that a band were waiting at least 8-10 months due to delays. Additionally you've got to account merch, and CD. If she's doing a film for this album, that too. So for all we know it could be right around the corner with no fault of her own, But some labels are very money hungry in the sense they'll refuse to fund something if they don't see it as profitable or commercially viable. So we just gotta keep waiting tbf, not much else you can do.
Also @ the leakers stop being dicks and leaking tracks from her third album. You're slowing down the album's release, whether you realise it or not. Many artists and labels will scrap songs after they've been leaked

hating love + fear is just cliche'd at this point. sure it's nowhere near as excellent as her first three albums but it's got some cute moments

Maybe except for the vinyl production, this rule is not precisely true to every artist out there (see: Charli XCX's how i'm feeling now, 2020) as it all depends on the vision of the artist combined with the label's schedules and plans as you mentioned, and some definitely take shorter periods (or some are relegated to, er, minor priorities? Labels can do artists dirty sometimes)
BUT knowing Melanie, her big plans and her vision, I think this is probably the shortest it could take for her to do the whole album/era rollout. It's happened before. K-12 was put on hold for 2 full years (it was finished in 2017) because of the film. With her I know there's no other way, her vision is too ambitious, and it usually takes her long time.
To be honest, I don't think we'll get new material for the next 12-15 months.

I work within the Same creative field and I’ve never gotten the scrapping of songs especially if they’re a high quality.. from what I hear it’s mostly label pressure? But you’ve just invested in time and now you want to scrap it even though only 500 devoted fans have heard it likely? And you can still rework it? Dumb 
 
the best option is to do what Miley Cyrus did, ignore it and it worked for her-half of an album leaked a year before
