I finished reading My Dark Vanessa awhile ago and it got me in a huge reading slump. I rated it 5* but it was so hard for me to get through and basically extremely triggering. I read Create Dangerously by Albert Camus right after to "cleanse" myself, it's just a really short essay (a speech he gave), and then I started reading Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto and even though I'm enjoying it I just can't get past half way ... just finding it hard to get past the feelings from MDV

Yes! There's a ton of references to other people's work in Venice Bitch, including Beautiful Losers (Leonard Cohen book), as @manicpixxxie says. I personally love when I discover a new reference in Lana's work that I wasn't aware of before, as I feel it unlocks another piece of her world. I recommend reading Beautiful Losers for anyone who hasn't already. It feels like it's been so long since we've had a Lana show (I know it hasn't been, but still!) and I'm so excited I wish I could go in person BUT I'm hoping everyone attending has the time of their lives and stays safe I'm so happy there's a live (or radio) stream for us to watch
