  1. I don't even know where to put this (mod please mod if this is the wrong place?), but I came across this article on my FB feed this morning: https://blog.ziphealth.co/music-during-sex/ This is just the Lana related stuff, but it was honestly quite interesting
  2. This is going to sound so odd but Lana has an exceptionally long neck, and it makes her look really elegant and poised
  3. HAPPY 10th BIRTHDAY TO THE ALBUM THAT CHANGED THE TRAJECTORY OF MUSIC BTD was a cultural shift, but Ultraviolence cemented Lana's legacy in the public's eye as someone completely unafraid to follow her North star, express her art how SHE wants, and tell her story HER way even if other people think it's the wrong way (there's no wrong way to tell YOUR story). The critics and media had completely shunned her an inauthentic fraud who can't sing and she came back with an album that is nothing BUT authentic, ironic, and vulnerable! We talk about how Lana inspired Lorde, Bille, Olivia, etc all the time but it was UV that really paved the way for the gritty, raw, truly ANGSTY feminine ... One of the first Lana songs I heard was BTD (title track) and ... I was instantly lost in her vocals. I thought, who is this woman? Her voice is everything I need and everything I want. I must have listened to it 20 times in a row and loved the whole album. But, I was always (and still am) a rock girlie. I love classic rock, indie rock, heavy metal, etc more than anything else. SO, when Lana released UV it was like she made it for me Lana's vocals were the best thing I'd ever heard in my life and now it was combined with electric guitar and moody production? It was love at first listen! UV is probably the reason why even though most of my musical obsessions come and go in waves, I've stuck with Lana all these years and only fell more and more in love (despite her not really ever returning to that sound) And as always, the visuals SERVED. Probably one of my favourite eras EVER for photoshoots, music videos, and looks. I still wish I was able to pull off the UV-style makeup. Here's my ranking (in UV colours) Warning, potentially controversial , and things ranked the same aren't in order because that's impossible Shades of Cool 10/10 (INCREDIBLE vocals) Brooklyn Baby 10/10 West Coast 10/10 Ultraviolence 10/10 Black Beauty 10/10 Old Money 10/10 Is This Happiness 10/10 Cruel World 10/10 Pretty When You Cry 10/10 Money Power Glory 9.9/10 Flipside 9.9/10 Fucked My Way Up to the Top 9.9/10 The Other Woman 9.9/10 Guns n Roses 7/10 (Iconic but don't listen) Florida Kilos 7/10 (Iconic but don't listen)
  4. So anyway, I'm going to read The Law of Attraction by Esther Hicks and Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and hope I can make my life a work of art even 1% as beautiful as Lana has made her art
  5. Why did she have to stop. Aside from not getting any Lasso news I could have listened to her for another 15 minutes at least
  6. I am actually loving this speech, I love any glimpse into how her mind works
  7. I actually like his voice on Margaret But NOBODY can sing the minor key bit like Lana .... that sounded awful in comparison
  8. I think she's the hottest, most gorgeous woman I've ever laid eyes on The boss bitch classic Chanel vibe is doing EVERYTHING for me right now
  9. The mini blazer dress with the turtle and the high chignon! I'm in love, I'm in love
  10. I'm particularly intrigued by the second photo of the tree — as others have pointed out, it's very Neil Krug vinyl sleeve-esque Also LOVE the photo of her in the diner booth, the aesthetic is REAL, the way her jacket matches the seats? The reflections? Everything about it? Like I said, LOVE. And the one after is so UV-era
  11. Alabama, in the springtime, is heavenly
  12. Fond memories of my parents playing this a lot in the house when I was little
  13. Oh please share your Pinterest board ... I'm desperate for any visual even fan ones
  14. I think Ocean being a lily (especially because they're a funeral flower) and NFR being sea thrift (although snapdragon works too) makes more sense to me Love lasso as prickly pear It would be fun to all make Lasso mood boards of the aesthetic we'd like it to be
  15. Undoubtably A Pillow of Winds by Pink Floyd, it's so beautiful (the poetic lyrics and the music) Meddle is so underrated
  16. Not only did I get an email about the Festival drop from Lana's newsletter a few days ago, I've now got one from Polydor too. Delulu time? They might be trying to get rid of the stock so they can launch LASSO merch soon?!
  17. I just finished The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt ... phew that was a long one! I've been on a streak of really long books lately. I guess I've been wanting to be fully immersed in the characters and world around them, and this book did just the job. Overall it was great. My initial ranking is 4/5, but I think it should have been edited to be slightly shorter (it's around 770 pages)
  18. Whaaaaaaat! Lana taking it seriously when she said she wasn't doing a stadium tour because she wanted to get breakfast lunch with people I'm so happy and excited for you! This literally feels like a dream from an alternate universe or something, especially because only 6 (?) people entered! ! I think if I was you I would just combust from nerves! This is 10000% a once in a lifetime opportunity, like having dinner with Marilyn or Elvis or something like that I can't even IMAGINE. Also, I agree with everyone else that's saying don't worry about asking her any qs (especially not about Lasso because we will get news about that sooner or later from her — your memories are more important) Also you look so beautiful! I love the dress on you too!
  19. Ohhh I'm one of the biggest fantasy and science fiction geeks I got into fantasty as a child really. My parents would read to me every night (I was so lucky!) and they actually read the entire LOTR (Lord of the Rings) series to me. Dedication. Anyway, I become OBSESSED with it and when I was about 10 or so I read the whole thing myself, from The Hobbit, LOTR, The Silmarillion, The Children of Húrin and all the other spin-offs. Since then I have probably read the series about 10-15 times That spurred me into looking for other great fantasy novels but I'll be honest, nothing else every really filled the void. LOTR is all-consuming pretty much. I read a lot of others along the way though. The only other two things that came close for me was The Earthsea Cycle by Ursula K. Le Guin. Again, I read it as a child, but it's a book that can be equally enjoyed by children and adults. It's excellent. Probably (almost definitely) part of the inspiration for Harry Potter and the wizarding school. Then the His Dark Materials trilogy, which has one of the most beautiful love stories I've ever read (and also inspired HP...). ASOIAF is also up there but since it's not finished ... I haven't read as much science fiction but have ofc read all the classics; Frankenstein, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Brave New World, Dune, etc. My favourite so far is probably Ursula K. Le Guin because she combines SF with politics and philosophy. The Hainish Cycle is unbelievably good. There's a reason she was the first woman to win both the Hugo and Nebula awards. She WAS American science fiction, an incredible woman. In terms of TV shows, I haven't seen as many but loved Star Trek, Star Wars (the animated Clone Wars one), GOT, HoTD, DW/Doctor Who (part of it anyway), Lost, The Last of Us, His Dark Materials ... used to watch Merlin and Supernatural back in the day as a teen too ... In terms of movies there's too many to count but obviously the big uns: LOTR, HP, Dune, Star Wars, BLADE RUNNER (original is a TOP 10 movie for me), Matrix, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Inception, Alien ... Japanese anime is a big recommendation if you haven't seen any; Paprika was the inspo for Inception, for example, and I'm sure many other films have been influenced by anime. I need to check out some really old school classics like Metropolis (1927), 2001 A Space Oddessy, Solaris, The Iron Giant, etc.
  20. Yes, I got one yesterday. Got all excited only to realise it was the same one
  21. https://www.jn.pt/4436505654/misteriosa-tragica-e-sensual-lana-del-rey-levou-ao-extase-o-primavera-sound/ Apparently the headline translates to: "Mysterious, tragic and sensual: Lana Del Rey brought Primavera Sound to ecstasy" I forgot to turn off my VPN and keep getting Portuguese articles about how amazing Lana was recommended to me!
  22. Well this was the best thing I've watched in absolutely ages It made me fall in love again with songs I hadn't connected to in a while ... and the way she performed just reinstated me for me that she is one of the most important singer/songwriters of our generation. Her lyricism shone through today with those immaculate vocals. I will be rewatching this live show again, definitely. Especially because of all the cute little moments. All those fans were so lucky! I can't wait to read about the experiences of Lipsters who saw this BEAUTIFUL show in person tomorrow I feel so happy Goodnight everyone
  23. Nothing different happened setlist wise, but the energy was unmatched, her vocals were gorgeous (she sung the Ride bridge for example!!) and she seemed so happy, it honestly makes all the difference to the show
