  1. I’ll throw out my low information, low effort opinion: We shouldn’t be meddling in so many conflicts around the world. Policemen of the world. Dropping bombs everywhere. Both political parties do it. Military industrial complex. Big picture, it doesn’t seem productive or peaceful. With that said, I know virtually nothing about this specific situation
  2. It varies, depending on the artist, genre and listener. Some would say that a “concept” album is as good as it gets. A record that tells a story or theme throughout, flowing effortlessly from start to finish. The best concept albums can have several hit singles, but they may include some tracks that need greater context to fully appreciate them as a whole. Others would say that an album with hit after hit makes a great album. The flow and pace keep up, each song is followed up by another banger and there isn’t a dull moment on the record. I’d say I prefer the former, as concept albums are top tier. Now, I will say that it can be jarring if a track or two by themselves in a concept album lacks context or doesn’t make sense (I’d use Pink Floyd’s, The Wall as a prime example). I don’t often have time to listen to an entire album from start to finish. In my own personal taste, including with Lana, here’s what makes an album great to me: Creativity, variety, flow, musical arrangements, thoughtful lyrics and pace. Some albums move too fast and I want to be able to pause and appreciate them in the moment. This is why I love tracks such as Venice Beach and A&W. You can get lost in the track and even be momentarily lost in the whole experience, which can be profound. Sometimes too many words or too short of a song leaves me wanting more. I also am not a fan of filler material. There’s no black or white rule that states how long an album must be, how many tracks it has to contain, etc. For a bonus, unique album art is great too. It can bring the whole story together and create a special experience for the fan. Another honorable mention is track selection. Ideally, I’d like the first track to do one of two things. It either slowly draws the listener into the music, or it immediately establishes the entire mood of the record. How tracks flow is important. Not every album has to be a concept album, but if the tracks bounce around too much, it can be jarring. I also appreciate if the record ends on a high note. It can be a long, moving arrangement to fade out the story, or it can be an epic final track that leaves a lasting impression.
  3. Odd. Did any of you try Barnes & Noble? They had them locally in December. I went a week ago out of curiosity and they only had the newer January 2024 one. It wasn’t hers, but whoever was on it was obviously forgettable. I remember I saw a huge stack of Interview Mag right next to it and I was triggered about that whole thing that went down last year.
  4. Yep, I dislike Trump as much as the next person, but this is like pouring fuel on the MAGA flames. Let the voters decide. Hell, let the courts decide all of the charges he’s got against him. It’s an interesting case, but I could see this backfiring on Dems if more states pull this move

Just found out they are playing some international and stateside shows this year. Public sale for the US dates starts tomorrow! I’ve never seen them, they’re one of my top artists and I want to try to go to more concerts this year, so I’m definitely interested
  6. :poundsfist: Okay, so it didn’t work out as well as I imagined, but it’s still one of my favorite moments from the last show of hers I saw

"Crypto forever, " screams your stupid boyfriend Fuck you, Kevin, that’s my Dad ❤️
  8. I’m a casual Odesza fan, but I don’t care about anyone else on that list. I probably couldn’t identify a single song by name for any of them lol. I won’t be going. Although when I first heard, I looked it up just in case. AL isn’t super far away, but I’ve never been to a festival, that’s a week before I actually go on vacation (gotta save PTO) and I don’t care about 95% of the performers I wouldn’t mind breaking my festival cherry to see her, but it won’t be at this one
  9. I rarely dream about people I don’t know, but I had this dream with an unknown woman… it might have been a younger version of Lana, but I’m not totally sure. We were in a 50s themed world set in California. We were listening to Lana unreleased, singing and bonding, magically. Then, an unreleased song came on that I never heard before and it shook me to my core. I had to stop everything and start it over again. That’s all that I remember
  10. It’s been a while, but I’m sure it came up on shuffle within the past couple months. When’s the last time you told someone you appreciated them?
  11. Banned for having too good of a username
  12. It was moved because it didn’t belong there in the first place
  13. Groupie Love (painful because I love her parts, but I can’t stand the rest ) Judah Smith Interlude Summer Bummer Okay, that’s all I can come up with rn
  14. Every time I listen to Blue Banisters I appreciate it even more. Considering I recently ranked it as my least favorite LDR record, I’m not sure if I ought to rank it higher, or if even her least “great” stuff is still pretty damn good.
  15. I’ve only seen Barbie… it was good, but I really wanna see Oppenheimer.
  16. She’s really done a lot the last 12 months or so. I’m not sure why there are two camps (I’ve experienced it off of this board as well): 1. Those who think Lana has been lazy and barely promoted this record. 2. The camp who thinks she’s done a lot - like the most she’s done for promotion since probably pre-pandemic. Honestly, the promotion got me super hyped in late 2022/eariy 2023. It pushed my fandom into overdrive. 2023 has been an incredible year for Lana and her fans. She’s not lazy at all. Maybe a bit shy and random, but not lazy. The only criticism that I might be willing to give her is that she may not fully understand just how good this record is. (Creativity, diversity, production, lyrics, variety, etc.) I stand by my opinion that it’s her best work since NFR.
  17. Anyone have creative ideas of what I can do with pictures of Lana from her latest magazine shoot? I was turning through the pages and one page ripped out but then I thought, maybe I can do something with the pictures, so it doesn’t feel like a wasted magazine missing a page. I really do love some of the pictures. I know there are a few I want to frame. Is that weird? Any other ideas? I did get another copy (Harper’s Bazaar), so it’s not like I’m ripping apart the only copy I have.
  18. I want Honeymoon Lana back Actually I really just want her doing whatever makes her happy, even if it comes across as sad, melancholy, etc.
  19. It’s a balance. While I don’t necessarily want her to create a totally stripped down album along the lines of Blue Banisters, too much production and intervention from people like Jack sometimes overshadows her talent. It’s like, don’t fix something that’s not broken. Having said that, A&W is definitely a top track for me. It was different and complex, but still felt like an iconic LDR song. I would like more songs with orchestral arrangements that compliment her voice and lyrics

This just started playing on our playlist at work. It’s lowkey grown on me a bit. The best is when someone recognizes Lana’s voice and runs up to tell me
  21. That’s the same cover of the one I found at Barnes & Noble today! I guess I got really lucky I noticed Amazon has both right now, in limited quantities, but the alt one is a little more expensive.
