  1. Honestly, I never expected this interview would cause such a strong reaction. I haven't read all pages of this thread, so I apologise in advance if I say something that has been stated before. Please don't feel offended or personally addressed when I indirectly quote any of you... it's just kind of inspired my train of thought. To me, it seemed like she really needed to get some things off her chest. Although the interviewer didn't ask her any provocative and insensitive questions, I got the impression that she felt the need to set the record straight on some things. I have read some opinions on here saying that she's obviously lying or telling half-truths but personally, I don't think that's the case. I think she has been very open in this interview and seemed genuinely interested in being understood. I have seen people say that she denying things that have been proven to be right. Is that really the case? Because I don't think so. Nothing is really cleared up about her past. There's a cluster of tiny bits of information from here and there that us fans and the media have tried to put together, but who besides Lana herself knows if that is 100% accurate (nice keyword, coming to this a paragraph later)? I feel like she's constantly struggling to define her public image. @@Monicker and @ discussed her apparent "personality disorder" and I agree that she seems quite bipolar at times. In opposite to journalists claiming that she's well in charge and extremely controlling of everything, I believe that she is very insecure and extremely overwhelmed with the challenge of being a celebrity figure. I see Lana Del Rey, the enigmatic and beautiful artist, Lana Del Rey, the good-hearted and loving person that's all sweet with her fans [insert infamous laugh here], Lana Del Rey, the shy and modest private person, and then I see a few other fragments here and there. I am totally unable to put all the pieces together. I sometimes get the impression that she is just as lost like we are when it comes to her, and that she therefore tries to carve her past, her present and future into the oh-so dramatic "work of art." All those contradictions in interviews, be it print, audio or video, kind of reflect that struggle of hers, and I am pretty sure that she's far away from coming to terms with herself. I am convinced that all those inaccuracies and thereby emerging misconceptions/interpretations (mine's probably just as wrong here) do eat her up and pretty much force her to constantly change details about things she's already talked about. Do I even make sense at this point? So, I see why many people get upset over this interview. I think this interview marks a turning point of her. That, however, remains to be seen... All these assumptions and speculations on my part are obviously based on my understanding of the interview. I just got home from today's Pragmatics course (part of English Linguistics, which I study) so I was in the mood for a little pragmatical conversation analysis. Fair enough, but I'd have to see a taping of this interview, or at least hear a recording of it, in order to be able to judge properly.
  2. My 2013 concert list looks like this so far: Björk - Paris, March 8 ✓ Lana Del Rey - Hamburg, April 6 ✓ Lana Del Rey - Berlin, April 15 ✓ Lana Del Rey - Bruxelles, May 31 ✓ Bruce Springsteen - Leipzig, July 7 ✓ Bob Dylan - Hamburg, October 19 Charli XCX - Berlin, October 22 Mylène Farmer - Bruxelles - November 16 Even though it seems highly unlikely, I hope that Kesha and MS MR add a couple of shows in Germany.

Impossible Princess is such a masterpiece. I have seen all the shows since the Fever Tour 2002 and I still love her. I still love to look at those performances from her tours: "Come Into My World," "Giving You Up," "Come Into My World" and "Aphrodite." But the music she's put out recently is kind of... I didn't even buy The Abby Road Sessions because the music there sounds pretty inauthentic and insincere. Let's not even talk about "Skirt" or whatever that mess is called that she released a single off the album which I sense will be just as much of a debacle. I met her in 2008 during the X Tour. I remember watching this video countless times back in the day because I loved the way she sang the part at 3:09, plus that reverb effect sounds so good. I sneaked into the general admission floor for the Aphrodite - Les Folies Tour in 2011, even though I had a seat. And during the show, they let me enter the Splash Zone (the triangle inside of the stage) and it was totally awesome. She blew me a kiss... That white dress has indeed reached iconic status, I agree.
  4. "I actually find myself not going back to those themes in my writing in the last thirteen months." "I was talking to my mom about that." Now that was a fantastic and insightful interview! Thank you very much for posting! I kind of feel like she's actually starting to be less cryptical when it comes to her past...

    Paradise Tour Programme

I am pretty sure this seller stole one of the boxes thats said 'Lana Del Ray Merch' (no kidding) from the back of the venue. Those lay there for hours unsupervised and nobody cared to bring them inside. The merch I could have stolen at the shows I attended... There were hundreds of poster rolls and a tremendous package that read 'Lithographies - Signed.' Not to mention a box with hundreds of those hip flasks and lighters.

  7. I don't know why, but after the fourth season, the series became quite a parody of itself. It was sad seeing Desperate Housewives become one big fat incredible joke. Susan doing webcam porn? Lynette being pregnant - again? Katherine discovering that she's actually a Lesbian? Bree doing significantly younger guys? Edie suddenly dies? A ridiculous amount of new neighbours? Bye.

Good timing for you, by the way... if you made this post three months ago I'd probably have made some really obnoxious post about why anyone would even want to listen to this deceiving ?%&*/$§.

    MS MR

I bought Secondhand Rapture the other day and I think it's a fantastic album! I really love their feeling for melody and especially those dynamic drums.

I was pretty annoyed by the original cover, so I did something about it.
  11. It's not really a misheard lyric, but anytime I listen to "Summer Wine" and Lana sings "take off your silver spurs" I always want to sing "take off your business suit" because it kind of reminds me of "Hit It and Run."
  12. Took me years to find a vinyl in decent condition. This one is so perfect! I might digitalise it.
  13. But seriously, I find it pretty annoying when people complain about Apple and their customers acting all elitist. Sometimes it seems to me as if they are compulsively trying to oppose Applemania. I don't really understand why. Is it the price of the products which makes users look, like you said, spoiled? Or is it that their products look a certain way? I just don't get it. Yes, there might be a bunch of starbucking idiots that feel a sense of superiority when using their latest iPhone/iPad/iPhone/iWhatever but I just can't understand why some people are desperately trying to fight against Apple and Apple users. Where's the point? It doesn't come off as anything but jealous and dare I say it... pressed. It's childish, immature and retarded. "My mmmy is better than yurs!" "N, yur mmmy is a fat cw!" "But my dad says that yur mmmy isn't as nice as she always acts. Actually, she's a deceitful bitch!" I am so sick and tired of being looked at like whenever I take out my MacBook Pro at uni. Why the hell are people acting like I am intentionally trying to piss them off by "viciously showing off how much money I have." Funny, that money has been worked for, saved and earned for two years and I am far from being sorry for being 100% satisfied with any Apple device I have ever used in my whole life. Yes, that's right, Windows! I have not encountered a single bug so far in all those years while "other" devices were simply counterproductive to my entire workflow.
  14. :duke: I love all my Apple devices!

  16. I am kind of unwilling to let DVDs go. I kind of refuse to adapt to recent "home entertainment technology."

Or... she tweeted the video, after she saw the GIF, to give us to understand that we shall not compromise/compress our posts on here only because she's lurking.
  18. Remember... back in the day? God bless.
  19. I don't own many films on DVDs, actually. Maybe like ten or 15. But I do own quite a few complete TV shows on DVD. Speaking about piracy which I normally don't do... I have found this thrilling site whose server is located in Switzerland. I consider it previewing as I already bought the first season of each show I watched there.
