  1. So has this been like 50+ pages of arguing, opinion, and ridiculousness or have we actually learned anything new? I haven't see anything in the news- but the forum always has some good exclusives (and some RARE interesting and plausible fan theories). Anyone want to summarize the last like 50 pages for me?
  2. surprised Lana wouldn't have made this a more important priority, however, I'm not surprised that her team wouldn't have cleared her schedule for this. I guess Interscope and the team probably didn't see too much hit potential in this collaboration. However, it would have been super dope, artistically. Excited for the Kacey Musgraves collaboration. She & Him is a natural collaboration although I can only imagine how vanilla the song will sound. Lana and Frank Ocean would have brought some much needed edge and unexpectedness to this duets album.
  3. HERE IT IS! My brand new song "Ecstasy" written for Stevie Boi's Fall 2014 collection X2SEA. You can hear it in the debut episode of his brand new reality show, tomorrow! Stay tuned! Meanwhile, enjoy a little Ecstasy (produced byThomas Ware, Rennie Grant, and Hunter Hooligan). “Ecstasy” is inspired by my love affair with the escapism and fantasy inherent in Stevie Boi fashion. Stevie Boi pieces have accessorized some of the most prolific artists of this age and it is nothing short of an honor to provide the theme music to this collection. During the creative process for this song I wasdigesting the X2SEA collection ad nauseam and it’s influence on the songwriting and production is inseparable from the song itself. A true marriage of muse and music, fashion and song, I am excited to bring you “Ecstasy” by Hunter Hooligan for the Stevie Boi Fall 2014 X2SEA collection. 4. Addiction is a terrible disease that is so difficult for addicts to treat. It's hard to blame people... but I see where you're coming from. It's scary to think that those who were close to her saw the inevitable destruction that we all saw and didn't "save her" or "help her." (Who knows what they did do, though. None of us were there in her close intimate circle. Her dad does really seem like a terrible enabler though. I haven't read "My Daughter Amy" because something just doesn't sit right with me on Mitch.) I miss Amy every day. I listen to her records and think about the brilliance that was left in her. She really saved my life.

  6. So... Wow... I just read through 90% of this thread and.... I gotta say I'm really kind of overwhelmed, shocked and ultimately disappointed by so many of the comments I see here. It would seem that a large majority of the fans here really don't give a fuck about the content or concept of Lana's music as long as we "get a new look for the era" or she stops doing "boring jazz" (which is an oxymoron) or she stops wearing "jeans and tshirts" or starts "using makeup." Again and again the comments here read like a tug of war with everyone pulling her in all different directions. This is one of the first times I have ever truly hoped she does not ever read this forum. There used to be a lot of constructive, thought out criticism here from people who had a wealth of knowledge about music- from genre specialties to music history- and could discuss Lana's work in an interesting way. People could really discuss the cultural significance of what she was doing or dissect her lyrics. This is all just like... "stan" vomit. And if Lana were to ever read through this... Wow... I can't imagine. I would be SO uninspired to see what my fans were discussing and valuing about my art. It's not that there is criticism- I have read thoughtful critiques on her work here before that I wish Lana could/would read because I think they would inspire her so much. However, so many of the comments here miss the mark completely on what is important. She is an ARTIST. Allow an artistic process to HAPPEN. She is not your barbie doll to dress up and style. She is a person who is trying to communicate her soul through a difficult business called the Music Industry that has become LESS and LESS about the actual music. Do you guys see how so many of us have been conditioned to value the PACKAGE over the PRODUCT in this industry? They are destroying our minds and our ability to appreciate diversity and art in the music world. By us placing so much emphasis on how she looks, we keep perpetuating the kind of business models that starved funding our of Ultraviolence. Labels send interns onto forums like this to get a read on what the fan bases are looking for, what they want. The music industry has taught you to care more about Lana's hair than her words, so now when a label lackey comes on here to read through this garbage, what they will report back to their bosses is "They want a pretty girl, the music seems so secondary." This means, ultimately, more label control. The label could pressure Lana into a package she isn't comfortable with and as a result, we get a less authentic and self-expressing artist. This is all hypothetical, but this is how things happen. Consumers of art need to seriously take more responsibility when using their voice. I can't imagine how I would feel if I read through pages and pages of comments that missed the point of what I do completely. I would be completely devastated and hollow. (Not to say that EVERY post was like this, but I'm just highlighting a few that really stuck with me. Come on guys, we can do better than this. And I'm not even saying Lana's look isn't important to some degree- as she has often used it as an extension of expression of the music. But come on, some of these comments... We are smarter than that and we care about Lana's authentic expression more than that... right?)
  7. these are golden. Also if Lana had a song called "Lilith" I might fucking melt. Like... I would implode.
  8. I have been waiting since 2011 for a re-recording of Pawn Shop Blues... That is quite possibly one of the best songs she's ever, ever written. Praying this points to her re-recording, re-doing some of her older songs (Queen of the Gas Station, Pawn Shop Blues, Raise Me Up, Oh Say Can You See, Mermaid Motel PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE) And people saying they don't want her to re-do the songs... I'm confused because like... We already have the 2008 versions of the songs... So...

THANKS GUYS! :D Thank you so much! Yeah, I wanted to maintain some of the house elements present in the original, but I also wanted to incorporate elements of soul and funk with the guitars and hand drums and bass grooves. The verses were DEFINITELY meant for voguing- definitely wanted to bring banks back to her queer origins. Fierce still remains one of my favorites by her and I love when she references New York ball culture so I really wanted to incorporate those elements. I'm so happy you got that from it! WOW. Thanks guys. What a compliment. As soon as we know the outcome of the contest the remix will be made available for free download!

  12. The ONLY thing I have found TRULY disturbing in this ENTIRE scenario are the reactions (not just here, but also twitter and tumblr) that say "wow, I want to get raped now" "wow, lana looks so fucking hot" "Yas she looks incredible" "this makes rape look hot" "this rape looks so *~*glamorous*~*" "wow, this is weird but Lana looks so good" "Wow, I wish Eli Roth would rape me" "wow I would fuck Eli Roth" "wow I would fuck Lana" "wow I wish I could rape Lana" "wow I would love to recreate this scene with Lana" "wow, I would love to recreate this scene with Eli" WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT THESE REACTIONS MAKE ME WANT TO BREAK THE INTERNET.
  13. I'm sorry... Is this 1951? Because the last I checked... two people consenting to portraying rape on film is NOT the same as rape occurring in real life and in no way immediately implies the endorsement OF rape from either party.... Have we really gotten to a place in culture where we cannot even show rape in film and have a DIALOGUE about it? Because if so, we are NO better off than we were in the 50s when there was no space in culture to address issues like this. Art and media is a space where artists are supposed to be encouraged to portray the struggles of our life.... I'm confused by the offense people are taking with this. Did this 29 second clip in ANY way imply that what was occurring was okay? Also... This is not a REAL rape. Also also... rape in film SHOULD make you uncomfortable. That is okay. That is normal.
  14. A long time ago she did, but I think recently she's very interested. She even said "Shades of Cool" was her take on a bond theme.
  15. Duffy never ended up doing it. It became Alicia Keys and Jack White.... Which was....
  16. Apparently she has already been approached. And she's apparently desperate for it. But they seem keen on giving it to Sam Smith... Which reminds me of when those idiots passed over an Amy Winehouse bond theme for Duffy....
  17. To everyone who is saying "he's just being funny," "he's just fucking around," "he's not being serious," "he's just kidding".... WHY IS HITTING WOMEN FUNNY TO YOU!?

  20. I could never forget anyone at Lanaboards. You guys have supported me and believed in me for so long. I look forward to releasing new music and hearing what you guys' thoughts on it are, ALWAYS. Thank you. That seems to be a pretty sweeping favorite. I love it so much as well and for so many reasons. At the end with the "You've got to rise" refrain, those are all my best friends singing with me <3
