She looks utterly ravishingly and sphinx-like in her Miss Daytona selfie. I really wonder what she's thinking.

I think we should just express that we love her art and wonder why she's being inhibited, if in fact she is inhibited and not butting heads with some label execs over some kind of BS. The fact that she says "things were so different and yet not that different at all" [10 yrs ago], gives me some hope she'll revisit some of her weirder and/or older styles, or at least give those years a better archiving (formal releases, which she has suggested as a possibility). I guess we also know what our collective fan designation is: lil bs (little bitches, as in it's coming you little bitch, LOL).

Imagine the music she would've made if AKA had taken off, though...

Hi friends! I've been meaning to post this for like ever, but I kept forgetting. Anyway, last August I had some fun recreating Lana's video & photoshoot for Keds that was shot on August 26, 2009 - I shot mine August 25, 2018, 9 years + 1 day apart! I wanted to share the finished product with you all as I thought it turned out pretty cute (instagram saw it first though, follow me @ xmissdaytona if ya feel like it)

Another fun fact, most of the video footage from the video were from Live Photos from the photoshoot I converted to videos, so I wasn't even really intending to create a whole video out of it, but I thought it turned out cute.

    Enjoy!
    xoxo,
    Elle

I also feel like Lana was free back then in all styles. There was no "oh this has to be well recieved by the public" or "oh my fans will like this" or "you know what, I shouldn't write about that", it was completely unfiltered and beautiful. I think that's why I enjoy her old stuff so much, she sort of has to go through this "Lana Del Rey filter" now with music. In her old songs, she did pop, she did folk, she changed writing topics, styles, even accents. Nowadays it's sort of "okay 1. I need to sing in my deep dark Lana voice 2. I need to write about something meaningful that will be recieved well without telling too much 3. It needs to be soft, slow and heavenly to match my discography" whereas back then it was like "let's sing about anorexia, overdosing in my mans car, being at Fordham, going to kent, the trailer park, the canyons, okay now I'm doing pop, okay now I'm doing acoustic, okay now I'm doing something jazzy" it was just truly mesmerizing to see this woman go through endless possibilities and flourish in all aspects. Now I just feel she's stuck inside Lana Del Rey. The greatest freedom she had was writing music for herself to enjoy, not us, that's why I think it was so evolved! I don't know how to further explain my thought, but I hope you guys sort of understood!

I've been thinking a lot about this lately with the new album coming "soon". I feel like a lot of us glorify the AKA era and music she recorded before & up to Born To Die, so much so that it kinda takes away from the new music, if that makes sense? Most of us weren't fans back then so it seems like some people kinda look back at those eras as her ~~glory days~~. Like a lot of people on here (me included) get more excited over some random demo leaking than about brand new official music.

It just kinda feels like we're longing for that old Lana but she will never do anything like that again obviously because she has a million ideas and never does the same thing twice.

I did a really bad job explaining this but does anyone else kind of feel this way too?

    Hey guys! (again)
So some of you liked my artwork for Lana's next album: Norman Fucking Rockwell
I've edited some variants of it. I'm working on more.
This is all I have rn:

    B&W (Lust for Life aesthetic):

Color Version (Lust for Life aesthetic):

    Color Painting:

    B&W Painting:

    Color Painting (added hair clip):

Booklet page (not sure if I should add lyrics or something):

Well, that's all I have right now. I'm still trying to go with some more ideas. I have other versions where the hair is longer but I don't know if they're good enough (you can see a bit of that version on the booklet page - if you look close enough you see that the hair is different).
    Hope you guys like it

i have a file filled with inspirations for my fake NFR cover and these ^ are some of the photos....

it would be basically her sitting in the middle of the Yosemite park, with a trailer on the background
she would be wearing linen shirt and pants and a beige hat (the bob dylan one), sitting in the middle of the park trying to paint herself
and at the left bottom of the corner would be the classic NR logo

overall the concept would be based on the Norman Rockwell paintings, his "I showed the America I knew and observed to others who might not have noticed" and her whole attitude nowadays that questions the "sad tumblr girl" persona that the media created for her ("you took my sadness outta context - i aint no candle in the wind" / "don't ask if I'm happy, you know that I'm not but at best, I can say I'm not sad") compared to norman's ability of recording the classic american way of life and everyday scenes that earned him a permanent place in the universe of pop culture, which would be represented by her trying to "repaint" herself into a new persona

he also said "i'm tired but proud" and i guess it kinda fits her mood nowadays?

but i guess chuck is coming with something cheap as usual
