While Lana Del Ray (commonly known as AKA) wasn’t Lana’s first studio album -- that honor goes to Sirens -- it was her debut on a record label, and her first album to be sold commercially. AKA’s history was turbulent, which probably owes to much of the mystery and misinformation that surrounds the album today:
 
 
As noted above, the formation of AKA brought about many demos and outtakes that didn’t make the final cut, including Lizzy’s collaborations with producer Steven Mertens. Below is a helpful guide to the AKA demos, along with information on unused tracks recorded with both Mertens and David Kahne:
 
 
Lana’s promotion of her music during the AKA era included interviews, frequent live performances, and perhaps most distinctively, the creation of self-assembled music videos for most of the tracks on the album, much like the “Video Games” visuals that would propel her to stardom in 2011. I've just read an interview of her from 2011 that gives info of how it was working with David Kahne.
 
“How was it working with David Kahne [The Strokes, Regina Spector, Paul McCartney] on your debut? He has a background in replicating bygone eras.
 
LDR: It was validating when David asked to work with me, only a day after he got my demo. He has known as a producer with a lot integrity and who had an interest in making music that wasn't just pop.
 
In terms of instruction, what was Kahne's input?
 
LDR: He had a lot of things he wanted done. For example, he was interested in a more traditional vocal style and I wasn't. He's also a real scientist, so he had a very particular plan. The album ended up somewhere in between what he wanted and what I wanted." - Interview by The Quietus, October 4th, 2011

At least this era we have zero info about the releases and not "especially on Tuesdays" and "pink moon" and "may 26 surprise release" expectations which were annoying lmao

this...i think the length and part looks great, and i'll forever say her hair at it's peak is wavy (like her recent IG video- compared to the straight locks) but her extensions from the past 2 months are horrid

I know I have rly bad taste and I apologize    but it sounds spooky and I don't like it. It's almost discordant to my ears. It's a shame because lyrically I'm all for it. I put it in the same category than Let My Hair Down and Strange Love  The three Lana horsemen of the apocalpyse

I don't remember the intricacies of what happened and was said then; do we believe a fan made these or not? If we're not sure it was a fan who made this I'm starting to believe it was Lana herself
 
 
 

I saw her live in Orlando the other day and she put on an amazing show even tho she was sick. I got a setlist after experiencing that shit front row and then I chilled outside by her tour bus waiting and this beautiful woman came out and met me after like an hour    She signed my vinyl & setlist but the kicker is I got home and realized SHE GAVE ME HER COLD. I'm speechless. Go see her if you have the chance.
