I literally can't write any intelligent critique because I just love it all!!! This. This is exactly how I feel. Not that I've ever been eloquent on here, but words escape me. I forgot that this woman is a sorceress of atmosphere. The band and especially her backup singers make this such an ace. Totally random in terms of its feel-anyone ever seen or heard of Over The Garden Wall? I get that vibe from this version. 2 Quote
whitelungswhitepalms Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 If she’s gonna be serving like this, then the American classics album itself will be a classic sheeeesh 15 Quote IM STRONGER THANALL MY MEN...
West Coast Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 So much depth and soul in this amazing cover. I was left starved after NFR, but now I'm full to the brim. Can't wait to hear the whole record. 8 Quote
softcore babyface Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 I have been DYING for Lana to sing with real back up vocalist for so long...now she needs to bring them on tour 9 Quote
xxmissdaytonaxx Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 my absolute favorite line from her version is when she sings "oh my daddy he's rich". just the way she says it is so enticing. i love it. 7 Quote miss born to lose
pin up galore Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 HER VOICE. HER FUCKING VOICE. This sounds straight out of 2014 she really outdid herself my expectations were so low lol 6 Quote
Icecream Icequeen Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Amazing, just amazing If this is the quality that she'll be serving for that American Classics, I'm even more excited for that cover album now. 10 Quote
Doll Harlow Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 this exceeded all of my expectations jesus this covers album is going to slap. her voice is outstanding on this song. i agree that it definitely seems like she had vocal classes or something because wow. 6 Quote You call me lavender, you call me sunshine.
HighbytheSea Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Took a song i usually associate with August, gave it an October vibe and said "make it sexy"...then released it while the airwaves begin prepping the Christmas onslaught. Fuckin love to see it. 6 Quote

bel air rose Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 my first listen it didn’t totally sink in but now i’m obsessed. her voice sounds so sultry and powerful even though I absolutely love the visuals like she looked AMAZING i think listening to the song alone is a whole other experience. i imagine lizzy grant/ young lana with her strawberry blonde curls singing to a small group of people like she used to, somewhere in nyc i know lana can pull off any genre but we need a full jazz album 2 Quote
White Dress Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Her vocals sound AMAZING. This sort of made me realize that as much as I love Norman, it doesn’t have too many big vocal moments. This is ecstasy 25 Quote
GeminiLanaFan Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 The background vocals other than hers really aren’t that frequent in her discography and it’s a nice touch. 10 Quote
ivy Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Love it. The vocals (the notes and the vibrato in particular) remind me of The Man I Love: Especially the parts where she sings “I wanna fly” 9 Quote
LimelightDelight Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Does anyone think the Daddy and Mammy line was kind of weird? Is that the original lyric? Is Mammy an offensive term? I could be completely wrong. I have heard the term used offensively, but that doesn't necessarily make it offensive. Just wondering, I genuinely don't know. 1 Quote

I see what you’re saying, and it could be. I think mammy is either an offensive stereotype or it refers to a mother, but I’m not sure what it means here. But I also don’t imagine the philharmonic would have asked her to cover this song if it was going to be a bad look. 0 Quote
