The production on this album kind of reminds me of Violet, and I think while NFR and Violet have lyrical synergy, I would say Chemtrails and Violet have a bit of sonic synergy.

The instrumental of White Dress as it builds up reminds me a lot of the drums used on various Violet tracks, like What Happened When I Left You, and while it’s not part of Violet, I was especially reminded of Patent Leather Do-Over, which was also produced by Jack.

The brief piano interlude between the first chorus and second verse of Dark But Just a Game really has a lot of colours musically and reminded me of Happy and the overall classic-feeling compositions on Violet.

There’s this instrument that I can’t place - it’s probably some sort of keyboard synth - that almost sounds like a rainbow in a cartoon (LOL) that we hear in the background of Tulsa Jesus Freak and in the atmospheric intro of For Free that is also used in Sportcruiser (you can especially hear it after she says “...wash over me like the foamy tops of the sea”).

I just think these similarities are really cool. There’s a lot of colour and atmosphere woven into this record in the same ways as Violet and I love both projects so much. They both contain this classic, timeless feeling while having these little quirks that give it so much personality!

this album always remember me of her past career masterpieces
i've got vibes from sirens/aka the most, also is undeniable the nfr, lfl and ultra charm that it has
this his her most bold and grower work of her career i think. this album is growing on me in a way that i'm so fucking impressive

This album is such a grower.

I was afraid it was my least favorite album at first listens but it keeps getting better. Now I place it above Lust For Life and it may go up.

yes!! as the most i listen to, the most i dig into the layers of the tracks productions n their lyrics :air:

I don't want to spoil your positive experience but reading this made me realize how flat and superficial the production Jack does is compared to other producers she worked with.

Honeymoon or Ultraviolence for example had so many layers and details to discover, which is not something that happened on NFR - and much less on COCC.

Just do it. Just do it - don't wait!

Metacritic added the 30 from Sputnik. Only lost a point, though, down to 83. So much for 'cRitiCaL iNtEgRIty' lol.

:beyonce: And the 100 from Rolling Stones has yet to be added right :beyonce:

Edit: Omg right when I posted this:

Not 100 but still good :beyonce:
