i'm starting to wonder if it really is official 

especially because a. these are literally the two songs he has rights for even though i'm pretty sure they worked on more than this and b. the apple music 2018 thing coinciding with the confirmed CWYCM remaster

 

i'm just wondering why it's so shady

Why would Lana make the producer the sole rightsholder? And why did he wait 10 years before releasing it?

Yeah I’m not sure at all. But I’ve always thought she’s owned most of her masters. A main part because her name is listed first on all credits, and polydor/interscope second. I always assumed that’s why she doesn’t care to promote as much anymore. Cause either way she’s getting PAID and only what matters is the art now. I could be wrong though of course.

This just makes me think that maybe Lana was actually working on doing a fan-favorite outtakes album in 2018 but plans eventually fell through. Neros / this producer maybe just got pissed off and waited for enough time to pass so he could just release it for himself since he fully mixed and mastered it for that outtake project.

If I remember correctly the 2018 remaster was made by the producer for pure fun and had no correlation to Lana's plan of releasing her Leaks Compilation tho?
