she did say enjoy your life and orange trees were made to try and make herself happier, I think it was an interview for venus fly trap she said she sometimes uses music to 'manifest' things. I know some of her 'depressing' songs like numb and living dead are some of her best but I don't blame her for not wanting to 'constantly' sing about being unhappy if she's trying to think positively. the leaked snippets sound promising, the instrumentals sound quite experimental (for her), if she doesn't want to sing deep lyrics anymore then I hope we can get some fun bops.

We did hear a bit of it in ADIAML overall I think, it's just that it was still an attempt to do something.....sophisticated? With the lyrics? And it muted out the rage that could have otherwise been the star of the show.

As Melanie Martinez's #1 Hater, I feel a sense of irony in saying this, but I'd wonder what would happen if Marina just went feral and had "fuck" every other lyric and just got crude and downright brutish dumb with her songwriting? Maybe just for a small little EP? I feel like Marina always is working to channel her emotions and ideas through some degree of polish. It's one of the things I love about her, but I wonder what it would be like if she just.....didn't.

I'm also going to maintain my statements that she just needs to commit to a whole ass concept album, just for a beat, to wring out this....aura....that seems to be clinging to her music that we're all noticing but can't always quite articulate. She's talked about some shit with greek gods and zodiac and all that jazz in the past as an idea, and I just really wish she'd do it. Each song could be from a different perspective of the gods; just to get out of her head.

that one snippet definitely gave me a tropical latin baby/orange trees continuation vibe as you’ve said on first listen and it triggered some war flashbacks from 2019 in me. couldn’t stop making faces. she can keep it

Ugh, I'm so fucking scared. Her going for a Melanie Martinez baby sound is scary af.

I really thought that "Butterfly" would be the worst track on the album but now... 

 

I guess Neon Gold was the one who really helped her give her best but after she left (and gave back her precious diamonds, those were never hers seems like lol) them for a major label (and then going independent) it's clearly that she's not the same lyrically nor production wise.

By lil project do you mean the new single or ADML? Tbh I think ADML is really good. She had this insane run in the first 4-5 songs, then it tapered down toward the middle which is fine but not all the girlies can be Lady Godga It picks back up toward the end with the bonus tracks imho overall making the album pretty solid. She did all that only to come back to music with that avian sanctuary non profit bullshit like gorl some things should stay in the studio you feel me maybe not even the studio let’s just keep that to ourselves dkfnfgb she has incredible potential that’s why it sucks to see her flop this bad 🦋😭
