one of those people who found her bc of the SNL performance. everyone was shitting so badly on her but my 12 year old self instantly became obsessed. i remember printing out photos of the terry richardson shoot and taping them all over my middle school binder. i still remember her vividly announcing ultraviolence at the tropico premiere.

OMG. I remember the same thing except with the Billboard blonde photos. Also, every background of my phone and laptop was Lana.

Found her via YouTube and the OG Video Games video. I think I was 11/12? Honestly, it feels like my whole life at this point. But I did become less invested during the HM era, but then fell back in love with her more than ever with LFL and NFR.

I was obsessed with BTD, video games and Summertime when I was 8. Those were the only songs I listened for months on my mini iPad. Ofc I didn’t understand a thing the lyrics were saying but her melancholic voice and the visuals of Ride hypnotized me. Eventually I got over the songs and forgot about her until 5 years later when I saw a picture of her at the beach in my country because she was headlining lollapalooza 2018 and I was like “WHAT? I know this bitch” and cried a lot bc I wanted to see her but it was impossible :trisha:   And now we’re here

I started listening to Lana when I turned 13. I can't explain in detail because for me it's quite personal, but I share very similar experiences to her, especially in her teen years (eg growing up in a not so great environment, mental health, getting involved with older people, picking up vises, questioning everything) and then had to start over at 15. I felt understood, and then looked at how she navigated her way through it all and learned from her.

I guess you can say I understood a lot more than I should have

I’m sorry to hear that you had to grow up in such circumstances, I hope you’re doing better now.

It's so crazy to think there was a long time when I wasn't completely parasocially obsessed with this one random woman who I've never met and will probably never meet

this was me when the pandemic started. I had been liking Lana for years at that point but it just came for my neck right then. That's what being locked in your room for several months does to your mental health :agree:

i remember her showing up in my dreams

I won’t really type down how I became a fan (it’s written in some other, similar thread) but I just want to mention that I was about 17 when I first started to listen to Lana and became a fan. After reading the comments here, it feels like everyone became fans when they were 12 or 13, so I’m here to represent us “older” fans. :hooker: (“Older” in quotation marks because I know some here are older than me!)

Does any else miss when they were a brand new fan and still had new songs to discover? Like I’ll never forget hearing Shades Of Cool for the first time. I miss when I thought Born To Die was the best album ever lmao

Yeah going trough her unreleased stuff was so cool. Hearing Boarding School and Kinda Outta Luck for the first time:omfg2: iconic

Storytime! I remember after discovering her I downloaded an MP3 app onto my phone. Suddenly these titles I've never seen before started to pop up. I thought I was God and like discovered some secret vault with her songs! Then I went on YouTube and the dream faded so quickly. I miss being a kid.

i was in 5th grade :true:

I remember I had Florida Kilos on and my mom said to me "You know yayo means cocaine?". I didn't even know what cocaine was. Being young and a Lana stan was something I wish I could have again.
