Although I thought Billie deserved a win for SOTY or pop vocal, I’m not upset at Sabrina and Kendrick winning those categories instead. I still think HMHAS is an all around stronger album than when we all fall asleep, but she’s won many Grammys already. She’s still soo young and talented, she’ll have plenty of other opportunities in the future. I’m also happy Charli got a few wins and brat won best dance/electronic album so it’s not like she didn’t win anything.

 

Personal preference and opinions about Beyonce aside, CC was a groundbreaking album. The AOTY category had some great nominees, but I’m glad it wasn't solely based off charts and focused on artistry. Historically it‘s a win for black women's visibility in country music, so it's nice to see. I loved how she included multiple generations of artists while integrating different genres. Her vocals and versatility is impressive. She deserves achieving an AOTY finally and winning best country album. Including my choices for categories, I got 11/15 right and 9/15 for predictions. Overall, it was a great show and year for music <3

billie's first record too against lana's 5th. I knew then and there that they were worthless and only follow the money trail. This year billie got some karma for that. Love her to death, but needed to happen 🤭

It has been ongoing for years, pretty much until he was arrested. Beyonce and Jay Z have been silent for 20+ years on it, plus Diddy’s depravity was well known in Hollywood, especially his inner circle. They all knew he was a predator and they enabled him by doing nothing.

Im lowkey surprised that the comments on social media about Beyoncé AOTY win were like "Billie robbed, Billie deserved AOTY" because I thought all the comments are going to be about Charli's Brat. I mean yes Brat won 3 awards but like, it didn't win a main one...and to be honest Brat deserved AOTY more than Hit Me Hard And Soft and imo Billie deserved a Grammy for Birds Of A Feather more. But I'm still happy for Cowboy Carter though. It was a huge moment when the lead was released during the Superbowl.

Brat is a full-on dance record. It deserved dance record and just that, as far as album categories go imo.

 

AOTY should be a bit more serous / universal - like an album everyone should listen to. The greatest accomplishment in music, not club bangers.

My TikTok is currently full of videos of devastated people saying that Billie was fucked over. Not to have schadenfreude, but it's a little bit vindicating for me to see older Billie stans go through what we did in 2020. It's tough seeing what you think is the obvious AOTY being snubbed, isn't it? 

 

I feel sorry for the younger Billie stans though they genuinely seem so gutted

Imo Billie deserved SOTY for Birds Of A Feather more than that Barbie song (for which she won last year).

But the impact which Brat had was like crazy. It was trending everywhere, Brat owned the summer, it literally was Brat Summer, even Kamala Harris used it for her presidential campaign (which I also thing that her losing the elections was perhaps a bit of an factor on Charli losing the AOTY). I don't think that the album has to be serious in terms of the themes or genres because the AOTY winner is chosen by its qualities. And Brat was #1 in many year-end lists of magazines and music critics. And I'm pretty sure that a dance/electronic album has won an AOTY before amongst pop, country, rock and ballads albums.

 

I'm 100% sure that Midnights (last year's AOTY) won not because of its music but for its accomplishments, it had many records and the impact of the Eras Tours in 2023 was wild just like Brat was in 2024.

To think that she actually lost all of her nominations in 2022 for Happier Than Ever as well. Because then I was actually sure she was going to win for the title track or best pop vocal album.

I am happy with Cowboy Carter winning AOTY, it's an amazing album that deserved the win, but I think this take is a little dismissive of Brat. I definitely wouldn't just consider it an album of club bangers, it's a lot more thoughtful than that. It manages to be full of bops while also telling a cohesive and thought provoking narrative. It absolutely was one of the greatest accomplishments in music last year.

On another note I am still traumatized by Lana not winning the AOTY last year. I think it was better than NFR. And it went to... Midnights. :-/ good record, just not as good as OB

It’s honestly appalling that he still has a career

The fact that the music industry seems to share this view that “enough time has passed” for him to be forgiven is appalling

There is soooo much more than just the RiRi incident

This man has no business having a recording deal or winning Grammys and anyone who voted for him is a scumbag
