Paradise is an album. Yes or no?

stop because i do this too. spotify even labels paradise as an album rather than an ep as well. i just wish lana included burning desire and y&b on the paradise so that it could be long enough for people to consider it a full album.

Spotify has its own definition

https://intercom.help/music-hub/en/articles/6159116-will-my-release-be-displayed-as-a-single-ep-or-album-on-the-streaming-services

An EP (short for Extended Play) contains more tracks than a single, but less tracks than a full album. If a release has four to six tracks with a total running time of 30 minutes or less, it will be classified as an EP by both Apple Music and Spotify.

Based on this strict definition, Ethel Cain's Inbred (6 songs, 31:32) and Golden Age (6 songs, 30:27), for example, were classified as albums, although they are clearly EPs

To make things even more complicated, Discogs calls Paradise a Mini-Album

https://www.discogs.com/de/master/580413-Lana-Del-Rey-Paradise

so it looks like it is technically an LP after all :um2:

Didn't LDR herself at one point say she considered it an album? Shouldn't we let her have the final say?

To me, Paradise is very different from BTD--if Paradise was a great deal like BTD, especially in BTD's weaker tracks, I'd tend to see it as an EP, but it has a power and character all its own, and, to my ear, is markedly different in tone and vision.

I feel like if you were to ask Lana she’d just respond with “sure idk”

she would also say violets is one of her albums and her favourite at that so who cares what that venice bitch has to say

I view it as an ep and a separate project altogether, but that being said I stream it as born to die the paradise edition where they’re technically merged so.. :um:

Yes it was nominated for Vocal Pop album at the Grammys,

But they’ve done this to EPs before - Lil Nas X’s 7 for example.

Spotify having classified as an album doesn’t mean much since some singles on the platform are labeled album. And that’s on Spotify’s end, Not the artist.

Look up an article from time of release, They say it’s an EP - Because that’s what it was sold as.

Irrefutably an EP.

It doesn’t matter if you personally think or feel otherwise,

Factually an EP.

Yes in my opinion I feel like it’s an album, But it’s not.

And just because it’s an EP / Sometimes a Re-Up to Born To Die, That does NOT take away anything from this Beautiful project!

No.

It’s an EP.

AKA,

BTD,

UV,

HM,

LFL,

NFR,

COCC,

BB,

DYK are the albums…

I agree!

I don't count Sirens since it's categorised as a demo album and not a regular album — right? It also wasn't released under the name 'Lana'.

AKA is a fully mastered and produced album that saw an (albeit brief) commercial release. It was released under LDR (Lana Del Ray, yes, but it's a 1-letter difference, and isn't there also an alternate cover with the 'Rey' spelling?) This makes it her first official album under the name and her debut studio album overall.

I don't count Paradise as its own album, but instead as an EP attached to Born To Die — that's how it was released. Violet… is a poetry audiobook, not a musical album.

That's just my opinion tho, no idea what Lana thinks about this in her mind or if she thinks about it at all.

That could be the case, I’ve always just thought that cover was on some of the bootlegs - She may have changed it prior to it’s removal?

in the Wikipedia article is a statement

In an interview with Tim Blackwell for radio station Nova 100 in Melbourne, Australia, Del Rey added that her upcoming November release would not be a new album, but more like an EP, which she described as the "Paradise Edition" of Born to Die

not a new album, but only like an EP

So it's neither one nor the other :giggle:

The right answer is that it's a project :lanaptie:

Paradise being sophomore album is like ...

The Fame Monster is Gaga's sophomore album instead of Born This Way

Cannibal is Kesha's sophomore album instead of Warrior

Paradise to Born To Die is very much like Guts to Sour for Olivia - they're different but not so different i guess
