Wryta Thinkpiece 3,345 Posted November 1, 2013 I just discovered HAIM (pronounced to rhyme with "time",) I saw a gif from the music video "Don't Save Me," and was really curious where it was from, so I just searched it on Google and the band popped up. They are so infectious, they remind me of a female version of Dog Is Dead except maybe a little more stripped down. I really love their vibe, and just got the deluxe version of their album. Here's a few of the songs I checked out, mostly music videos. I think you guys will dig them, too!Happy listening!
Madrigal 2,616 Posted November 1, 2013 Oh, they're quite the qute little Jewesses. I really do like their album, but not as much as I kinda wish I would. I am willing to cede that yes, it's definitely ~good~, but at this point, their music just refuses to transcend my expectations like I want them to. However, I love them for what they do, and they definitely work with the right people.
Quentin 552 Posted November 1, 2013 I love them. They really struggled & took their time to record their debut album, and even though it's not perfect (some of songs could have been a lot better when you compare to how they sound live), I really dig it. Hopefully they'll get better recording in the studio with the time, I still think they can get bigger. some stuff to check out if you're a new fan: the documentary Red Bull Music did about them last year (you can see a poster of Jules @5.25 @elllipsis )http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZE_Kgk7w4f8 their amazing cover of Oh Well by Fleetwood Mac the live version of Let Me Go (it's the song that end their sets) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtP0dQV0Rlg there's quite a few of their live set professionally recorded & available on YT: iTunes Festival 12 (they also performed this year but cant find it on YT), Reading, T in the Park & Glastonburry (can't find the full version). Oh and they're doing SNL on 23rd november.

Oh and they're doing SNL on 23rd november. Yeah! I just listened to the album before, and it really took me a while to give the other tracks a chance, but I'm still coming back to The Wire and Don't Save Me. They're amazing, but the album is a little weak in...diversity, I guess. Some tracks feel like an extension of others. Maybe after some more listens... They have such a bold presence on stage, such attitude. Totally badass chicks. I really like them, The Wire just gets me jivin' and swingin' to the rhythym.

NamiraWilhelm 5,050 Posted November 1, 2013 Yay finally a HAIM thread! Same as madrigal though, their album isn't -quite- doing it for me yet. I suppose I don't find any of their songs relatable, nor do they lyrically have any interesting stories to tell... idk

National Anthem 9,905 Posted April 27, 2014 Funny how this got bumped today, I just bought their record yesterday AND I'M IN LOVE. Idk why I never really gave them a proper chance until now. After hearing the first four songs on Days Are Gone a couple days ago I already knew I had to have this CD. It's amazing.

National Anthem 9,905 Posted May 4, 2014 Can anyone explain the title "My Song 5" to me? (PS that song is INCREDIBLE)
microgrooove 281 Posted May 4, 2014 Can anyone explain the title "My Song 5" to me? (PS that song is INCREDIBLE) They recorded the original draft/demo of the song in garageband (using it as like a musical notebook) and the program's set titles for the recordings is 'my song ___' (like document 1 etc.) and they just kept the garageband file name instead of coming up with a new one

I'm seeing them live in a week! So excited, they seem to be really great live!

It's funny too bc you would think they would make it track #5 if they were gonna keep that as the title haha. Anyway, SUPER track.
