Short Film Idea: "ULTRAVIOLENCE"

Recommended Posts

Now...I was originally planning on creating a discussion thread for this, but since we don't know what it is yet, I thought it would be cool to create some sort of semi-discussion for this.

As you might know already, I'm assuming this will be another short film in the style of TROPICO, but with different songs. Now, the question I have is:

If ULTRAVIOLENCE was going to be another short film, what songs from Born to Die or Paradise do you think could be used? Create a storyline that includes three or four songs from those albums.

A young girl, who once dreamed of becoming a star ends up becoming a New York porn star and prostitute. She goes by the name Carmen and sings in various night clubs from time-to-time. Through her numerous love affairs she manages to go to Hollywood, but her life there isn't any better than it was in New York, so she keeps singing in nightclubs hoping someone will make her famous. One day, she meets this guy who's much older than her (considering she's 17), but there's something about him that makes her feel different about him. He's not like the other guys. They fall in love with each other and he confesses that he's a mafioso and married but he wants to runaway and start a new life. Carmen agrees and they both take off to Vegas and get married. Unfortunately, the mafia finds them and they get into a gun fight and her lover gets killed. She mourns the death of her lover and tries to get back to where she's from. She pawns all the expensive gifts she got from him and promises him that she doesn't want his death to be for granted and will keep singing...

Intro: The Godfather theme

1. Cola

2. Off to the Races

3. Dark Paradise

I don't think she was referring to any new short movies or anything, but this would be fucking perfect!!

the songs you chose are EPIC!

as for the order of the songs it might be good in this order:

Off To The Races

Cola

Dark Paradise

in the first song she is telling the story of how much she loves (him), "I need you I breath you, I'd never leave you" ..

in the second song, she's asking her lover who is married (as for the song) to escape with her away from his wife, in the meantime she's asking not to be treated in a bad way etc.

the last song Dark Paradise, her lover chose to leave her and to be with his old wife, so Lana is singing how she cannot forget him "your face is like a melody, it wont leave my head.."

this would be fucking epic!!

Sounds ultra violent.

Violence doesn't always have to be associated with physical pain.

"Ultra" could also mean "beyond" or "on the other side of".

A FAREWELL (TO PARADISE) PROJECT

Did she ever confirm it was a frewell to Paradise? :uh:

show+me+the+receipts.gif

Just Jared: Does the album have a next single already?

Lana Del Rey: Cola. I have a couple of art projects going with people and I really hope that I can weave “Bel Air” and “Gods & Monsters” into a short film

TROPICO is one of them. ULTRAVIOLENCE might be the next one. Why would she say that, now that TROPICO is done and about to be released, she's ready for "ULTRAVIOLENCE"? It's definitely her next project, we just don't know what kind of project. But considering that she has "a couple" of art projects going on and mentioned it right after talking about Cola and then mentioning the songs used in TROPICO, it's quite easy to assume that ULTRAVIOLENCE is one of those art projects.

Then just what is it a farewell to? Any other option has her retreating completely. I can't believe you're using the quote where she says Cola is the next single. Clearly that has not happened. Those art projects likely won't either.

And now that she's done with Tropico, it makes perfect sense for her to say she's ready for Ultraviolence if it's a new album, rather than another method of drawing out the BTD era, because she billed Tropico as a farewell.

She drops one vague words and y'all whip yourselves up into a frenzy every time. Idk why you'd be eager for another six months of short film limbo. I for one want new music :tina:

I don't think she will milk the BTD or Paradise era more. It is way too late for that anyway. Paradise came out over a year ago and BTD almost two years ago. It just doesn't make any sense. I think she is moving on to something new. Not sure what to think if Ultraviolence really refers to an new album, because I don't see Black Beauty fitting that theme. It would be a shame if that's the case.

Maybe she's going to do her own version of this?

Also, this was a Youtube comment of hers? I went back to try to find it but think she may have deleted it.

So she might have changed her mind (about what I'm not sure).

Or perhaps she wanted to call her next album "The Ocean" and her label (unwisely) said no.

If BTD was about "I believe in the country America used to be" Ultraviolence can be Lana's vision of the world today. Ultraviolence doesn;t mean only physical violence.

I always thought National Anthem was a song and video that opened the door for something more Lana related and it sure fits in the Ultraviolence vision

I always had an impression that Lana first got this idea of TROPICO and then decided to write the songs to fit the concept. I think ULTRAVIOLENCE it's probably just like that: this concept it's what gonna inspire her songs for the next album ( probably with another name, just like PARADISE).

I doubt she's already working on another short film already, I mean TROPICO isn't even out yet. It's probably just some sort of word that's sparking inspiration in her mind. You know what would be really cool though? If it was some sort of literature project like a collection of poems she's written or something. I'm dying to read something Lana's written other than her music/monologues!

Your fixation on a "Cola" video is really almost pathological, isn't it?
