drewby 9,246 Posted July 2, 2013 Idk who William Orbit is but omg I saw she's working with Starsmith. And yessss the vinyl will be the perfect thing to have her sign when I see her in September. Basically famous for producing most of Madonna's Ray of Light and the only good tracks on MDNA tbh
Sitar 22,213 Posted July 2, 2013 So we've got William Orbit, Starsmith, Patrik Berger, and almost certainly Ariel Rechtshaid for the next album. Unless this William Orbit thing is for a different project again
Madrigal 2,616 Posted July 2, 2013 I'm not big fan of Starsmith but this could be either good or bad....1. It's Charli, so... If a pt. 2. is necessary, Starsmith really isn't bad...he's been a Charli fan since 2010, in fact, and has worked on songs with both Marina and YADi (artists who she not only looks up to, but is friends with) - I'm surprised they haven't made music together before.

comeintomybedroom 8,657 Posted July 2, 2013 DAILY CHARLIBOARDS TOPIC July Second - Discuss your favorite Charli lyric and why it's your favorite.
comeintomybedroom 8,657 Posted July 2, 2013 You're The One: Yeah I’m dancin' in the darkness, three years before I was feelin' so heartless. But your bones shined through, now I’m drinkin' love potion when I lay next to you. It’s a criminal feelin', happiness cries and the tears are dreamin'. My body is screamin', I’m staying right here, no, I’ll never be leavin'. I can't explain why it's my favorite, it was just the first full verse of her's that I memorized. It's always the first thing that pops in my head when 'Charli XCX' comes to mind.
Rafael 3,513 Posted July 2, 2013 I really like this entire paragraph in "So Far Away". I just couldn't delete a single sentence, because it all ties up so well together, but I did bold my favorite (I guess you would call it favorite Charli XCX musical moment) ones. Get out my head, get out my bedI don’t believe those, the words that you saidPocket of lies, crystal blue eyesHit the ground hard when I’m dropped from the skiesYou’re coming up when I’m going downNever in sync so we just sink and drownPress restart and reboot my heartBut I’m not a robot so I fell apartBefore the moment that we met we were chatting on the InternetGetting kinda close through the posts that we were looking atI was pretty confident, you were pretty into thatI linked you to my music just to see if you’d be into itSo fuck the prologue, read the Internet blogs"Gonna love this star and it came from the clubs."I wasn’t looking for a fuck, I was looking for a bad boyBad boy, motherfucker, destroy As soon as I finish singing that last sentence and I realize I did it all without messing up the lyrics I always get this feeling of satisfaction
Sitar 22,213 Posted July 2, 2013 As soon as I finish singing that last sentence and I realize I did it all without messing up the lyrics I always get this feeling of satisfaction Similar achievements I will do a top three because there's something so simple and wonderful about her writing that it's hard to choose: 1. I love the bridge to "How Can I", I think it's the strongest on the album: It was boys and girls and girls and boys The Southern Comfort from your comforter got destroyed It was shady eyes with the violent noise We on the graveyard digging where the love is void We had a meltdown underground Just a cemetery chick, but it's over now But I still taste your bones when I’m all alone You’re the best I ever had, but now you’ve got to go 2. Also this line in "I Like You", although it's half about her delivery: Pretend lists of potential lovers dangling like a chain Sweet smiles, bright eyes as we play the computer games 3. From "I'll Never Know": What if I see you alone on the pavement? Will my heart freeze, will the sun melt down my bones? ‘Cause when I think of you my fingers are quicksand
iseeyouupsidedown 931 Posted July 2, 2013 The bridge of How Can I!!!!!! "We're on the graveyard diggin where the love is void". It's so amazing, it makes me wish I liked the rest of the song more...I love the part in "I Like You" where she says "Flower pickin in the winter just to see what we can find". It's so cute and it gives me a pretty and kind of nostalgic image in my head.I really like the bridge of interior because it reminds me a bit of the bridge in How Can I. Not sure if I like the lyrics as much as I like the delivery."Nothing says tomorrow is a guarantee. There's no way of knowing that you'll be with me" - from Lock You Up. I know it's simple but it's really profound and idk I just really like that short part. It can hold a lot of meaning."I cant quite hear what you're saying, because my body started shaking. Beaches and oceans earth is quaking, that's my heart that you were breaking" - from Grins. its just so powerful and sounds so heartbroken, and I love the way she delivers it live when she's going crazy.
National Anthem 9,904 Posted July 2, 2013 I really like the opening of "Black Roses". "Purple and scarred. That's the color that you'll be in my heart, my heart, my heart I fall apart..."
Jord 3,481 Posted July 2, 2013 This topic is so hard because I love so many of her lyrics, really. I love the "So Far Away" and "How Can I" lyrics Rafael and Sitar posted, respectively, so I am going to mention "What I Like": Used to come around, you'd be knocking on my front door Playing board games, horror films with the super gore Thought that you were cute from the start, yeah, I'm pretty sure You were like the medicine, the medicine I wanted and more All along I wanted someone to vibe with Found the guy I want the rest of my life with, ha We on some husband and wife shit I don't really care, 'cause I know that I like it It's just PERFECT.
Up All Night 49 Posted July 2, 2013 The lyrics to The Princess Song are really nice I think especially this bit You make me scream on the outside Make me reveal all my colors to youYou make me want to untie all my soul stringsYou make me live in the lieBox up the truth, push it to the side You make me smile as I sink deeper into your oceanLet's dance with the dolphinsLet's lie in the flowersLet's swing from this starlight for hours and hours I listened to it so much in like march maybe? when I liked someone and I thought it was like how I felt like put into words, and I just think it's lovely. There are other songs where the lyrics are super but I there are some words here and there I just can't figure out so... idk ? difficult to say absolute favorite yknow
Madrigal 2,616 Posted July 2, 2013 Seems I'm a little late to the party, seeing as all my favourite lyrical moments are posted now (thanks to @, @@SitarHero Hero, and @@Up All Night), but I think there are a few more moments left for me to bring up. 1. The whole thing of 'Lonely Jaguar' is seriously brilliant. Of course, now we know it's a cover, of a musical at that, but fact remains that we probably would have never heard it without her performance...just a beautiful piece, truly haunting. 2. I adore the verses of 'Emmeline'. Very menacing vocals, but when you can decipher the things she's saying, just wonderful. Get tipsy, tricksy, DixieBurning colors in your brainEmelline just ruled the worldAnd it won’t be the sameUnknot your lips, embrace the tripsAnd tend after your tailsOr tie me to the kitchen chair if all else failsAcoustic treats, sadistic beatsGet your shoes, move your feetEmelline, you’re running out of time to impressTake off your dress and let them look at the scarsFrom when you met the stars in the backseat of your car I know you lie, Emelline, with your lipsStanding like a dollar glass around your neckJust cover it upPut on your spectacles and be a good girl like Mommy saidDon’t let the pills affect your headKeep your eyes wide and secretly smileAnd everybody will try to connect with you and adapt to youThey’ll want to dance with youThey’ll have to crawl across the room just to get to you 3. 'Dinosaur Sex!' and 'Interior' just have a lot of really witty phrases...so do both versions of 'Machines' and 'Photography', but the last two are undeniably creepy. There were so many directions her career could have gone, it's amazing we still have a few demos to contrast to the route she ended up taking.
Adrift 4,813 Posted July 2, 2013 The second verse of Black Roses. "Set in the garden of sin, like an angel with dirty wings tainted by taste of the soul, this is another level." 0 Quote X----into me, into you----X
VelvetDreamer 45 Posted July 2, 2013 I really love the this verse in 'Velvet Dreaming (LUV)' Stay hollow fire,You are my one desire,But you will never tire,Because you always keep on taking me higher,Super sweet, like a French bon-bonSuper story, hollywood dot comGot my heart dressed up like a debutanteYou’re the apple of my eye you're the only one it's just so sweet and I love to sing it from the song it's perfect or this from Just Desserts They always said I was a mess of a girl, Ever since you stepped your toes into my perfect world, You flipped me upside down but I see clear from here, That you're a mess of a boy, you'll cry these tears for years Look in the mirror baby it's a perfect revengeful lyric and i can relate a bit so that's probably why I really like it
Hundred Dollar Bill 21,805 Posted July 2, 2013 Yay, we all have different favorite lyrics! Mine are favorites for delivery and just for general etherealness. She's such a great writer. Got a diamond desire, gonna step into the blue fire I climbed a wall to touch your shadow I hear you call for me But you're not there, you're just an echo Why did you fall for me? I'll build a rocket and I'll fly to space Just so that I can touch your picture-perfect face In the box of doom, In a hotel room, You're across the sea But you're near to me You know, you gave me hope And now I stay afloat Your bones and my bones will always shine Oh, and my favorite lyric, probably the best one she's ever written is: Gonna sit there on the sand Hold your hand in my hand 'Cause we're gonna start a band And it's gonna be grand

iseeyouupsidedown 931 Posted July 2, 2013 I love a bunch of the ones you posted, many of them are favorites of mine as well. It's so hard to pick. I really like most of the lyrics in I'll Never Know. The "Build a Rocket and I'll fly to space just so that I can touch your picture perfect face" as someone said above me is great. And the chorus I guess you would call that part: "what if I see you alone on the pavement, will my heart freeze will the sun melty down my bones? etc" Actually I'll Never Know is probably one of her best, Imma listen to it now... It should've been on True Romance... I sort of forgot about it tbh, I haven't listened to it in a while. Also I just realized that "Too Cool" and I'll Never Know sound kind of similar. I really like both. I think the reason I haven't listened to I'll Never Know for a while is because it holds a special place in my heart about a feeling I no longer feel at all... I really liked a guy and I was moving off to school so we were going to stop dating, but then we dated after I moved anyway and did long distance and he even flew to see me once, but then I found out he cheated on me a lot so now I don't want to think about how I felt at that time, because it's not "I'll Never Know" anymore, since now I do know ... Such a pretty song though... Maybe I'll reappropriate it.
