I like how she's treating Honeymoon as though it were a living entity. The 'Honeymoon is alive and breathing' and yesterday 'Happy Birthday Honeymoon' and now 'Honeymoon is 1 day old'. It's like her child and it's apparent Lana is super proud of this album :)

BTW, now I am listening on my computer with just-decent headphones (the way I usually give my first listens these days). And IMO the equalization is perfection.

This is what I noticed; it only sounds weird through my receiver … guess that's what vinyl is for

Have listened through the whole album once, a few songs I have listened to a couple of more times.

Overall I find it better than UV, not as good as BTD. The album seems like a good mix of the two, leaning more heavily towards UV, at least in terms of the musical style (I don't know the lyrics well enough to comment on that).

Music to Watch Boys To and Terrence Loves You are the 2 highlights for me so far, I'll have some stronger thoughts after I listen to the rest of the album. Third straight album from her (Paradise, UV and this) where the second song on the album is the best one.

God Knows I Tried and Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, and surprisingly enough the title track are those on the bottom for me. The title tracks for both BTD and UV were excellent songs (my fave of the album for the latter) but just not that into it this time. She's done rather "eh" covers on the last 2 album and my hope is she gives it up for the next one.

Anyway, initial impression was it was worth the wait and hoping it is very successful.

Probably a little too hard on the title track here although its still towards the bottom of the album for me

Top Tier

Music to Watch Boys To

Terrence Loves You

Art Deco

The Blackest Day

Swan Song

Salvatore

Mid Tier

Freak

High by the Beach

Religion

Bottom Tier

God Knows I Tried

Honeymoon

24

Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood

Honeymoon and 24 both come off as songs that could be Bond songs to me (at least musically, lyrics would probably need to be adjusted), showing just how bad a decision it was to not go with her for the new movie! :P

Getting Honeymoon 16 months after Ultraviolence is spoiling us if you ask me. Almost twice as long between BTD and UV, although we got the shorter length Paradise in between. When UV came out I expected it'd be 2 years before we got any new album.

Guys, my friend who works at Best Buy sent me this poem or something through email. I've tried texting him but he hasn't said anything??

Let’s go away, get away from this place

Away from the life that we’re living

To where we don’t have no face or no name

Choose to love, or choose to die young

You tell me you’re not afraid of death

But I can see it in your eyes, you’re not one to fly

Getting ??? with that crystal meth

We don’t have no time, so let’s try to die

You don’t want to see me go, but I’m finally free

I don’t care about the music no more

I don’t care about the loving no more

Let’s just get down on the floor

And escape this place and soar

Baby I know where you’re from, don’t even try

You can choose to love, or to die young

Let’s go away, get away from this place

Away from the life that we’re living

To where we don’t have no face or no name

We can start again

So choose to love, or choose to die young

Look at me and have your final breath

Don’t fill me up with those sugar coat lies

Take a long look, I’ll promise the kiss of death

I can see it, I can see it in your baby blue eyes

Vonnegut told me we were born to fight

I don’t care about the music no more

I don’t care about the loving no more

I just want to get down on the floor

And escape this place and soar

Baby I know where you’re from, don’t even try

You can choose to love, or to die young

Let’s go away, get away from this place

Away from the life that we’re living

To where we don’t have no face or no name

We can start again

So choose to love, or choose to die young

We’re beautiful people even till ??? of dawn

We’re the light at the end of our life

I promise I won’t break your crown

If you promise me I'm yours for life

Baby I know where you’re from, don’t even try

You can choose to love, or to die young

Let’s go away, get away from this place

Away from the life that we’re living

To where we don’t have no face or no name

We can start again

So choose to love, or choose to die young

Guys, why is the album called "Honeymoon"? I can't quite find a honeymoon-theme through the entire record except for the title track.

She said that it's a metaphor for life. Also she really likes the way that it sounds

Honeymoon for me, matches the time of year it came out. I felt the same way with Ultraviolence! I am so happy the album is here and have plenty of time to take it all in. I love The Blackest Day, Freak, Art Deco, God Knows I Tried and Salvatore the best so far out of the songs we didn't already know. I still love Honeymoon, HBTB and Terrence Loves You is one of the best songs I have heard in a long time that is new.
