Party Party liked a post in a topic by fork2 in MBTI Types as LDR Songs
Hey!
So, if you don't know your MBTI type, you can take the test online by Googling "MBTI test" (I would link it here but it wouldn't paste here for whatever reason).
What songs do you think represent the type(s)?
ISTP: Pawn Shop Blues
ESFP: This Is What Makes Us Girls
ENFJ: Carmen
ISFJ: Without You
ESTP: Off To The Races
ENTJ: Money Power Glory
ISFP: Salvatore
I didn't use all 16 types for this...just the ones that sprung to mind
(I'm an ISTP, for reference)

"Ground Control to Major Tom" even though, as a whole, I don't like TLY
"We're always taking trips downtown, Officer Brown's always coming around" from Backfire. LOVE IT.

LOVE liked a post in a topic by fork2 in West Coast
I love this song. I wrote in the color synthesia or w/e thread about it and here's the feeling I get from it:
It's the middle of the night on a steamy hot Florida beach (YES I KNOW THIS IS CALLED WEST COAST, NOT EAST COAST, leave me alone) and then you stumble over the rocks and you get to a tropical forest. The dirt is cool beneath your feet. You smell cigarette smoke behind you and you see that gorgeous guy from the bar you were just at. You trip over your long dress and he laughs and helps you back up, you just start dancing randomly until the sunrise.
Yeah.

In my eyes I think it is Pawn Shop Blues for writing skills--but I still stand by Ultraviolence as being magnum opus under the definition.

SOMEONE ELSE WHO LIKES BRITE LITES!!!!!
Seriously it's amazing. I fell in love with it on first listen, right from the first "I look for you in magazines." I LOVE songs with heavy repetition of certain verses, and Brite Lites is such a good example of that. It sounds so fckn incredible in that half-singsong, half-talking voice. And I love the beats. :flutter:"I'm going back to Arbor Dean, where when I was a beauty queen," sounds so fckn magical. What's with all the hate? I seriously don't get it
HOLY SHIT MAN you and I are on the same page!!!! Like exactly the same, wtf! I'M NOT ALONE!!! Paradise is seriously underappreciated and it is a masterpiece, an incredible work of art. I love Honeymoon since it's so similar.

In pure sales terms and if we are talking about casual fans she is strongly declining compared to the BTD era.
But if we take a look at the concept of career beyond commercial success I wouldn't describe her path as declining because in my opinion she never reached true pop stardom. She always was an oddball: hugely popular on some parts of the internet and virtually unknown to large parts of the gp. For me BTD was a fluke, a hype bubble, generated by 4-5 songs with good commercial appeal, by her exposure to the gp in 2012-2013 because of a strange combination of positive and negative publicity and she was the new face with a new sound. But she never stabilize that, she didn't get comfortable with the media, she avoided to perform before the gp and I think that she become aware of her limitations as a performing artist thus she started making non-commercial music that suits better her strengths and doesn't put pressure on her to perform before the gp. I'm convinced that this is conscious strategy of hers to position her career in a zone where is less commercial success but which requires less media exposure and allows her to be more experimental. Maybe she's not a great performer but she's a great studio singer, a respectable songwriter and lately she's showing that she has producer qualities too. Artistically she went upwards: UV and HM are much better records overall than BTD (except VG which is her best song). So, I think that she is in a good place career wise and she'll be relevant for some time to come

The only thing declining is the quality of discussion on this forum.
"Video Games" and AKA were what made me a fan. I loved her songwriting on BTD for the most part, but the production was a big disappointment to me. I would absolutely be here if HM had been Lana's debut album. HM is more the record I had hoped BTD would be.

I know. People need to look beneath the bullshit the media portray her as and realise that she is a fucking amazing person who creates fucking amazing music

Ok but Miley is actually one of the most talented artists in mainstream music. Like I know some of you don't agree with some of the things she's done, but she undeniably has a talent. Seeing her live was amaazing, she sung everything live and sounded fucking amazing.
Stop judging everything she does because you don't personally agree with her. She is talented.
Also, her cover of Summertime Sadness was great.

Honeymoon is Lana's best album imo for so many reasons.
In an album, I look for something that's cohesive throughout instead of listening to single songs (as that's how I listen to music) and Honeymoon brings that. The production is consistently good throughout; the lyrics aren't her best but there isn't a song I'd single out as having lyrics that are considerably worse than everything else; I like every single one of the songs and I personally think Lana's vocal delivery is extremely impressive. 24 might not be one of the best on Honeymoon but the vocal delivery on it is stellar.
dear god i'm turning into the graham4graham dude

born to die is my least favorite album. it's not a bad album, i truly love it, but it's been put on this ginormous pedestal and it's been dried out from tumblr.
any other album > btd (imo)
