this thread title is many layers of problematic, caught me so off-guard I actually froze in place

I've never heard anything from SZA before this; Drew Barrymore is pretty good. The album had my interest until Go Gina, suddenly found myself not really caring anymore during and after that song.

The production of most songs is actually very good; the album suffers from everything blending into each other like one giant song for half the album and also... nothing else matches the production. Her vocals sound so out of place on almost every song. Stuff like that. btw, what is going on on her livestream right now and what the fuck is she wearing?

Who would've thought Bon Appetit would be my 2nd favorite song from the album. This shit is so boring. It sounds like a bunch of vaporwave artists sampled her and made a compilation album circa 2013. It's all midtempos and ballads, not even good ones. Tsunami being a highlight to many people says a lot. I didn't really have expectations going into this album yet I was really let down. Bigger Than Me is the only non-single takeaway for me. Also, oh honey...

The only Dua Lipa song I've ever heard is "Hotter Than Hell" and I wasn't sure about her when I heard it (it's a good song, not great and I kind of found her voice off-putting in the chorus) so I ignored her stuff until tonight but just gave the whole album a listen. The strongest tracks for me are: Blow Your Mind (Mwah), No Goodbyes, Bad Together (I really, really loved this one), Dreams and New Rules. Last Dance and Mwah really save the first section of the album, it includes my least favorites on first listen: Genesis, Be The One and IDGAF. Homesick is a great ballad and nice closer. Everything else ranges from average to good. Is there a masterpost of her stuff (including unreleased or demos) out there? I wanna check out whatever else is out there because this was a solid album and I'm interested now. I know she probably doesn't have a lot but considering how long the album was delayed surely some songs fell through but leaked?

I recently listened to Born to Die (and Paradise) while chilling at my old school playground on a perfect sunny evening, it was a fucking experience. Especially heightened when I was on a swing.

I finally listened to the whole thing through; Heaven in Hiding remains the biggest standout on the whole thing, Eyes Closed, Strangers, Walls Could Talk and Bad At Love are all at the top of my list too. Forever pressed that Walls is only 1:42. Don't really care for the vocal fuckery on Prologue/Hopeless. Gonna have to listen to some songs again to give better opinions on them because everything else sort of fell in the middle or don't have an opinion yet categories. I think I much prefer Badlands over this though but that's what I expected and kind of what I wanted. I posted many pages back that I was only expecting an average album with a few fantastic takeaways and that's what I got.
