Same !! I love how beautifully quirky it is. The SKILL.

Imagine Lana singing Cola high notes like that, disco flair. The echo, juxtaposed in some sort of space castle. Needs to happen

I'm not even kidding. Space station disco queen needs to happen: Cola high notes. damp clothes. steamed.

    I watched Amélie (2001).

My name is Creyk and I’m a hopeless romantic. I’ve tried to hide it and keep it a secret but the truth is that there’s nothing better than getting swept away in a romance and cinema is the best medium for capturing that intoxicating feeling. From the grand gesture of A Matter of Life and Death to the tentative delights of Before Sunrise, film has captured love in its many shapes and sizes.
One of the finest love stories this century is Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Parisian fairy tale, Amelie. It possesses so many elements that I would normally hate - the quirky characters, sugary-sweet whimsy and soppy protagonist - but I fall under its spell each and every time I watch it. It’s hard to express why it works for me when so many films of this kind do not (although the presence of Audrey Tautou undoubtedly helps) but Jeunet has created that rare and beautiful thing - cinematic magic.
Amelie, for the handful of people who still haven’t sampled its delights, is a thoroughly charming film about the eponymous ingénue - a waitress working in Montmartre who helps friends and strangers find the love and happiness she denies herself. She’s a dreamer living in her own world and too scared to make the leap until she meets a man almost as peculiar as she is.
It’s easy to be critical of a film like Amelie. It’s a twee confection that bears no relation to reality whether in its depiction of an all-white Montmartre or the oddballs and misfits each living in their own obsessive worlds. I understand why it has its detractors and if you aren’t beguiled by its nostalgic whimsy and naive eccentricities I imagine it could be a quite torturous experience.
It’s a film that transports me to a fantastical world filled with improbable characters and elaborate romantic gestures. Perhaps Jeunet’s methods are manipulative but the film shares the protagonist’s innocence and sense of wide-eyed wonder. As exaggerated and distorted as this Parisian depiction is you buy wholeheartedly into the world and the travails of its eccentric inhabitants.
Jeunet has created a heavily stylised world bursting with warm reds and golds. It’s a romanticised view vividly brought to life and filled with beautiful touches and flights of fantasy. Every frame is exquisitely rendered and although stripped of the director’s earlier macabre embellishments (perhaps because of Marc Caro’s departure) this is perhaps his most visually striking work to date.

The characters that orbit Amelie’s world are a collection of sad sacks and obsessives from a downtrodden grocer’s assistant to a man locked away in his apartment due to his brittle bones. Just like the audience, each one is enriched by the presence of Amelie as she helps them find happiness and new meaning in their lives.
Her own story - the would-be romance with Mathieu Kassovitz’s mysterious collector of discarded booth photos - possesses an endearing innocence as she finds the courage to look for love herself. It’s not particularly sophisticated, and the object of her affection remains an indistinct presence, but you get swept up into her romantic viewpoint (which is made all the more impressive when they never even share a single line of dialogue together). The film’s episodic structure would normally be problematic yet it’s just a joy to spend time in this meticulously crafted storybook world.
Like the unconventional characters that populate the film, Amelie isn’t perfect but it’s the quirks and peculiarities that ultimately make it such a magical experience.

Conceptually this is one of my fave Lana records... I'm sad its one of her weaker albums
I still love it, because it always puts me in a better mood, makes me feel understood, feel optimistic about life, and enjoy the present moment; BTD and LFL are sister albums for me in that way & my faves to get high to

I never thought I would find such good advice on coping on a Lana Del Rey forum, lol.
It is definitely right to be concerned, but fear can very easily spiral into depression. I hope everyone’s mental health is doing ok. I don’t know any of you personally, but I know the strongest people I know irl are struggling right now. We are all in different situations with a unique set of challenges, so I just wanted to say that however difficult you are finding this, if you can find someone to talk to that you can trust, it really helps so much.
2 friends that I hadn’t spoken to in over a year, I have recently had really meaningful connections with. That small sliver of light in such dark times is powerful to me, and if you feel lonely reaching out might help you feel even 1% better.
Everyone had gone through hard times in their life, but hard times make strong people who can see the beauty in a turbulent world. Because the sun still shines, the rain still falls and the grass still grows even though it feels like the world had shut down.

And if you don’t have anyone to talk to, maybe message someone you trust on here? Or get lost in art. Escapism makes you really appreciate the depth of art in a way that makes it much more meaningful.

Thank you everyone for trying to stay positive:)

They approved a bill on emergency legislation that postpones elections and referendums indefinitely plus the PM can rule by decree. WTF??

How to disappear as well. I had problems getting into this song but now I really like this track. It's somehow such a dreamy track.
And I had a weird "relationship" to the title track. At first, I liked this song but after a few weeks/months I didn't really like the song and now I start to like NFR again.  The TNBAR demo lyrics are superior but I get used to album version lyrics and can really enjoy this track now. Doin' Time isn't necessary for the album but it is nice to have this cute little bop before Love Song. Love Song is soft, beautiful and touching but I think because it is placed after DT it has more intensity..like you are dancing to DT and then Love Song starts and suddenly you find urself lying on the floor with tears in your eyes...

It's something she started but really realized it wasn't worth it tbh. I believe there's a bunch of songs that could actually leak tho.
We know that stuff like Brooklyn Nights was probably being saved for it. + stuff like Princess  Die which was teased to be on the ARTPOP app. I think there were some demos. Probably nothing "finished" at all but.... For sure if it leaked, there wouldn't exist an "ACT II" since she probably never worked the songs as a body of work, but yeah I believe there are many demos floating around

HTD grew on me a lot. I used to hate its production, but now I really love the strings (Melotron?). The Greatest is now my favorite from this record because it’s been the song I kept going to the most when I was feeling down. HIaB became one of my faves as well. There are now songs I hate, though TNBAR is the one I skip the most, because I overplayed it too much before Norman came out.
