still doesn't make much sense though, melanie admitted that the sex happened, she wrote "she didn't say no" so she was there, she was a participant so why is she using her fan's sleuthing as proof that it was consensual? Timothy attached a picture, a date and a story to her allegations. If Melanie was wrongly accused she should dispute the time and the date of the fact while also using that picture. (that's what her fans are doing and it seems enough for her) Why does she need people's findings (people who don't even know her) of inconsistency to have a verbal defense of herself while she could give the correct information from her side, it's not like she denied having had a sexual encounter with her.

Her statement does nothing to add to the story, she's just thanking people for their efforts to defend her.

my wig flew when the horns or a similar sounding instrument kicked in during art deco, my wig flew when she said 'you could be a bad motherfucker, but that dont make you a man', wig flew when she referenced Bowie in TLY, wig flew the second i heard the laugh on Salvatore, wig flew during the last minute of GKIT, wig flew during the bridge of TBD, wig flew on the chorus of Swan Song

but i got my wig back and let it sit come DLMBM

It’s a shame that we keep dreaming about what this album could’ve been almost 5 months after the release At least she gave us Cherry and Herowig.

Also 13 Beaches’ instrumental may sound kinda plain if we exclude the static/electronic sounds it includes in th second verse, I hope it has interesting hidden sounds. WTWWAW’s instrumental and GL’s instrumental must be fire

What if love's instrumental has some really great strings that were hidden bc of the vocals. I'd cry. And I'm so ready to get the cherry instrumental so I can filter out those background vocals and solve the lyrical mystery.

The Honeymoon instrumental sounds so cinematic and vintage. I can only imagine what how amazing Get Free and Heroin sound...

Okay, more has happened, I'm late, but my vow has been lifted!

At this point, I am wayyy less worked up about Melanie Martinez than I was 5 days ago. Tbh, before this started, I was kind of looking for a reason to not like her because all along I was unsure of her personality and her motives in her personal life (kinda like my opinion on Halsey as well). As someone who is totally aware of how damaging and undermined abuse is in society, I automatically sided with Timothy Heller and I won't regret that. No matter what the truth is, I think Timothy's statements were important to show just how messed up society still is when dealing with victims, and I am still proud that I wasn't part of the problem that doubted her from the start.

NOW, since new statements have come out from both (well, a statement from Melanie and regular tweets/snapchat stories from Timothy), I am still aware that Melanie could be the emotionally manipulative and selfish person I always thought she could be, but I am also aware that Timothy may have messed up her initial statement. Either way, I agree that they had a toxic friendship and I am glad that they are no longer friends. I still stand with Timothy as I completely understand that trauma messes with your precise memory (it's happened to me too. I struggle to re-encounter my own traumas because of trying to push them away and would probably fuck up the timeline more than Timothy did tbh, if I tried to make a statement).

So yeah, I'm over it, and since none of the two are willing to take their case further yet or do it professionally, I am not going to let this cloud my vision anymore. I still will never spend a single cent on Melanie and her music ever again. Ima illegally download that shit, if it's even decent, and I am not re-stanning someone like her. I just don't like her, k.

currently listening to the instrumentals of her magnus opus ULTRAVIOLENCE and her twin HONEYMOON and im crying at the subtle hints in every freaking song that added to the atmosphere of the whole album. FUCK Shades chorus is LIGHTNING, HONEYMOONS bridge is out of a movie is sweaarrr her instrumentals tell their own story.

I CANT IMAGINE how Cherry and BPBP and HEROIN sound in terms of their instrumentals.

i'm fucking shook again and i need the gays to get their totally spies compacts out and crack this case of the Lust For Life instrumentals

As a literature student yeah I think i have a pretty good understanding of English, don't know if I can say the same about you

In her first post Melanie implied that everything Timothy stated happened did happen, but consensually. In the second one Mel is referencing the posts her fans have been making regarding timelines and events not lining up in a way that would make those things possible to happen.
She didn't deny having sex with Timothy at first but now she's trying to make it seem like Timothy made everything up. Let me know if i'm moving too fast for you.
And she employed and praised her fans for researching when she thanked them for doing exactly that......

"If you guys bully her enough, she will back off" Is the vibe i got from Melanie's post

A$AP's participation on the album has been "un-growing" on me. How is Summer Bummer one of "her favorite things she's written in a while"? I like the song and i couldn't stop playing it on July, but it ruined the album's last chance of being cohesive. If only she had kept it until she released her mixtape with him and Boi-1da (if that's going to ever be a thing). And Groupie Love would be even better with one of Lana's bridges with strings instead of A$AP's verse (his back up vocals sound nice in the last chorus though). I get that they're friends and shit but couldn't she just pick one song to include A$AP on instead of almost ruining the second half of Groupie Bop? Or maybe I say all of this because I'm not too fond of rap.

As @Terrence Loves Me said, I think she will keep doing songs like Love, I don't really think she'll lose the sad tone on her songs unless something really drastic happens like her getting married and having kids. And even if that happens, I'd expect her sound to go more adult, like The Other Woman, 24, Change, Terrence Loves You, etc. But I do think/hope we've lost the Lolita Lana or the Pretty When You Cry Lana (lyrically speaking)

I agree with you on this because the album trailer really proves it but I hope she releases more music videos, like atleast one more to connect the concept with the actual songs because without more visuals it feels too open ended right now.
The fact that Lana couldn't even find a director for one music video makes this extremely unlikely but I think to make the era perfect we'd need sci-fi videos for cherry, GBA, Heroin and Get Free, but even videos for just cherry and get free would be good

It's not strictly science. I just joke about it because of the Campbell connection. Although she has repeatedly stated her influence from vintage/retro scifi and horror in this era. We don't know the original lyrics when it was Malibu, either. It could be an entire concept shift.

Also, it's just that. A concept. Of course her journey isn't completely done, she's human and neither she, nor anyone else in real life, reaches 100% fruition of their goals and dreams wtf. But the language directly indicates inspiration from a literary perspective (again, this doesn't have to be strictly science. And she references literature all the time)
It'd be too optimistic to think that someone in their thirties has everything figured out.

That's why I personally think LfL was more based around a character concept rather than her actual life. Her newfound happiness certainly inspired things, but by crafting a fantastical character attached to the concept (who lives in the Hollywood sign, sings on the moon, etc), she's able to detach her everyday self from the concept. Unfortunately, some critics aren't seeing that, and will now expect her to be happy forever and ever and ever

I think she'll still manage to combine positivity with a dash of melancholy, i think that's going to be her new sound. Something along the lines of Love.

This makes me annoyed and sad...
like I felt this album was for the "fans" and now journalists maybe would pick at her if she went deeper to the relatable sad stuff again...
She used to NOT CARE about the critics but I feel she does now... unfortunately...
but I didn't STAN Lana for her political tunes, I get that everyday with the news... like I get she wants to be good but like ... idk
