Lana is a rebel without a cause. Always has been.

New single: "Doin' Time" (Sublime cover) - OUT NOW
sjrq replied to Say Yes to Heaven's topic in New Releases
Love it -- makes the original sound like a garage band. -
Lana was so sweet before she decided to go political. Now look at her.

Lana in a white jump suit singing "Burning Love". I want to see this.

When The World Was At War We Kept Dancing
sjrq replied to Say Yes to Heaven's topic in Lust for Life
This song was probably inspired by the Hollywood Canteen, where actual stars would go and dance with our soldiers and sailors during WW2. -
Oh, I'm sure I'll come to love it. Lana's instincts when it comes to laying down tracks are always spot on.

Beautiful song, but I wish she would have recorded it without the falsetto on the chorus.

Which Nina Simone song should Lana cover next?
sjrq replied to Divisive Princess's topic in Lana Thoughts
I would love to hear her do Julie London's "Cry Me A River" (completely different song than the Justin Timberlake song with the same time title.) Now you say you're lonely You cry the whole night thorough Well, you can cry me a river, cry me a river I cried a river over you... -
I'm pretty sure I've heard everything Lana has done or that leaked, and I love almost everything (Sorry Princess Superstar). My favorites are Pawn Shop Blues, Trash Magic, Mermaid Motel, Driving in Cars With Boys (high chorus), Brooklyn Baby, and West Coast. Favorite video is her singing Pin Up Galore on open-mike night somewhere. It just kills me knowing there are probably a hundred songs she's written since the big leak stashed on a flash drive we'll never hear.

Hi, I've been trying to change my password for months and no luck - it says I'm being sent an email and it doesn't arrive. So, I tried to register a new account under username "FordhamRoad" and couldn't do that because the validation email didn't arrive. Any help would be appreciated. (This computer has the pw saved, but it overheats and dies all the time and I have no idea what the password is...)

I recall Lana saying they went to an Italian restaurant in L.A. frequently and she ordered the same spaghetti dish every time.

Los Angeles, CA @ Hollywood Bowl - May 18th, 2015
sjrq replied to AKA Lizzy Grant's topic in 2015 Endless Summer Tour
I've attended a lot of concerts and read a lot of reviews, and this is probably the only person ever to suggest a big star needs to pick an opening act that is somehow compatible with herself, one she can frolic with on stage. He doesn't seem to understand that all of the people in the audience would have shown up to see Lana if there was no opening act, just like they have in the past. Maybe Lana will do a "Cheek To Cheek" duet with Grimes a la Gaga and Tony Bennett in a future show just to make him happy. -
"The Endless Summer" was probably the most famous surfing movie of all time. It came out a long time ago (1966) and is about some surfers who travel the world looking for the best waves to surf. With her interest in the Beach Boys, it seems unlikely Lana is unaware of the connection. For example, summer in Australia is December to February. I think it will be a world tour.

Lana had a song called "My Momma" on the May Jailer album. Hope the lyrics aren't autobiographical. "My momma, she would love you like I love you If she ever met you, if she ever knew My momma, she would fall right on top of you If she ever saw you, she'd be smitten too "

i'll bet Slim Shady's knees would go wobbly if Lana just batted her eyelashes at him.

Salon: "Lana Is The Perfect Artist For An America In Decline"
sjrq replied to Macintosh Manhattan's topic in Latest News
The left is never going to stop trashing Lana because she is a pretty white girl who said she wasn't a feminist. -

Here is the definition of "glamour" from dictionary.com: glamour  noun 1.the quality of fascinating, alluring, or attracting, especially by a combination of charm and good looks. I think this means that one can look at famous people who died young as being at their peak of attractiveness forever, and that is indeed glamorous. Jim Morrison was on the cover of Rolling Stone ten years after he died, with the headline, "He's hot, he's sexy, and he's dead." http://www.rollingstone.com/music/pictures/the-complete-september-covers-20040825/rs352-jim-morrison-hes-hot-hes-sexy-and-hes-52028259

Lana Del Rey Defends Herself Against 'The Guardian' Controversy
sjrq replied to Sitar's topic in New Interviews
Once the left-wing media-types heard successful, pretty white girl Lana say she wasn't a feminist, it was absolutely certain they would come after her. That's what they do nowadays to people of note who don't fall in line. What they should be doing is asking her what advice she has for other women that might help them be successful, not criticizing her for what she isn't. That is why they are calling her out for saying she wishes she was dead instead of being concerned for her, IMO. -

I think what Lana meant was she would rather be dead than doing long interviews with someone asking her personal questions.- 169 replies

Ultraviolence Reviews: 74 Metascore (DISCUSS REVIEWS ONLY)
sjrq replied to Jared's topic in Latest News
What a great line from Lindsay Zoladz: "Ultraviolence has an air of "HI HATERS" drizzled out in gasoline, and an immaculately-manicured finger flicking a cigarette in slow-motion onto the ground."
