I love how the interviewer actually tried to dig a little deeper with the political questions. Her answers were still vague (like the health care question) but it's still one of the most outspoken interviews she has given to this date. Like what she said about sex scandals in the Church:

"It’s hard to see other people’s bad choices ruin the mysticism that can come from inside the walls of a church. It’s unfortunate. I don’t really understand why certain groups of people are drawn to that profession. I was talking to my mom about that."

I think it explains a lot about her faith somehow.

Idk about her attitude though, it's not like it's the first time she come across as a little defensive, even playing the victim quite a bit. I thought the same thing about the Fashion Magazine and as many here has already pointed out, it probably has a lot to do with her love of being loved + the extraordinary backlash she recieved back in the days.
I think her whole "misunderstood artist, u guyz" vibe is quite dramatic and tacky, but then again those are the qualities that make me love her so much, so I'm good

that's a good point actually, she has just been on a super long tour and she is probably exhausted and probably not feeling very well, and she's not had an american interview in ages and also, while the questions were interesting, 'you think you're a gypsy?' does sound rather rude. and maybe lana's answers come across as more rude on a text, we don't know what her tone was when she was saying these things, she's usually very light-hearted when she talks so i don't think it was her intention to be rude.

I think it's just one of the many facets of Lana Del Rey. You see the cutesy, fun side when she's on stage/ with her fans~ and I think that's genuine, I don't think you can really fake that.  And then sometimes, with the press, she comes off as cold and aloof. I think she was a girl who is so used to being liked or accepted and wasn't prepared for criticism.  She's sweet to the people that she knows love her already, and wary or perhaps even snotty to interviewers. (You may recall the Oyster mag interview where she continuously asks the interviewer if they like her music or not and then Fearne interviews- she is always kind because she knows Fearne is a fan) I mean, when you think back to her Lizzy Grant interviews, I believe all of them garnered praise, none of them were really negative.  It's like someone needs to tell her that not everyone is going to like you, and that's okay.  I also think she tries to give the appearance that she doesn't care what people think but that couldn't be further from the truth. (After all, we all do to some extent)  I wanna be the whole world's girl may be her most narrative lyric in LDR existence, imo. She wants everyone to like her, and because she got so much criticism after SNL from her home country, she's kind of turned her nose up at America.. as if it is impossible for us to comprehend her deeply philosophical lyrics,~pepsi cola pussy- that's ayn rand, right?? Criticism is a part of life, I agree it was in excess following SNL, but as I've said before, the press has moved on and so should she. I mean, Y&B even charted higher in the US!

remember when Ride came out and on pretty much every lyric site it said "I look up to hear myself saying, baby, too much strive, I just ride"

in diet mountain dew I was convinced she was singing "baby stopping at ~some posh french name~ (something like shumura l'evin), baring his work in new york, heaven" and I had this image of her and her painter-boyfriend driving to an art exhibition were he was showing his paintings

which fit with what I misheard in Blue Jeans which was "love you more, than those pictures before" because she was like "I don't love you because you're an artist, I love you because you're you~". For such a long time I thought all her songs was about a boyfriend who was a failed painter ("well shit at least you tried") who turned to selling drugs

I misheard so many of her lyrics...and I think I still do in some of her songs.

    My version of OTTR:
"...He loves me with every beat of his cooking heart
    Swimming pool glimmering darling
wiping keening off my red nail polish
watch me in the swimming pool
    bright blue ripple suit..."

Everyday when I get home and there's nobody else in the house (except my cat and I think this is the reason why she's nearly deaf), I go in the bathroom where it's really echo-y and I sing on the top of my voice to the live version of Million Dollar Man. I've managed to get myself to believe I sound really cool, just like Lana but once I recorded myself just out of curiosity and... I don't want to talk about it

Is it us or do a lot of Lana Del Rey songs remind you of drinking? Sure, she ruined Pepsi with the idea that it takes like her vagina but other songs serve as great inspirations for cocktails that might just be perfect now that the weather is warming up. Even her new song (as heard in The Great Gatsby trailer) prompted a cocktail idea or two. If you ever wanted to throw a LDR-themed party, now’s the time to do it!

  22. Summersault liked a post in a topic by Monicker in Lana Del Rey launches Institute of Innovative Thinkers
I’m not seeing it as a positive/negative thing. I was just saying that i don’t see the reasons for imposing those guidelines on how she should conduct interviews. Something that i think a lot of people don’t realize or remember (myself included because i tend to forget sometimes) is that Lana Del Rey is not giving these interviews for us. This place is insane. We are insane. We pick every single last shred of meat off the bone. We scrutinize everything. We know every single interview she’s done. So for us, her interviews are painfully repetitive. Or it may seem to some of us that she’s mentioned outreach work/charity a lot when, to the average fan, she really hasn’t. This is the nature of being a public figure and being interviewed frequently by several different sources and markets. People who are interviewed like this are mostly repeating shit because they’re covering a lot of bases, and you can only vary your responses so much. Overlap is inevitable.

Also, for the most part, celebrities get asked the same shit all the time. I don't think that's unique to Lana or an indication that she and/or her management are screening questions and only allowing certain ones through.

Remember that a publication and interviewer reflect its audience. So if a clueless interviewer is asking her very basic stuff, stuff that has been asked a million times before, it is most likely that the bulk audience of that publication doesn’t know this stuff, just as the clueless interviewer doesn’t know, hence the questions in the first place. They are catering to their readers, not to the minority cult following. We are small in numbers. Think about the amount of fans she has, the number of record sales, and then take a look at how few people are registered on this forum, the only active forum that exists for her (and how many of those are people who registered and never bothered coming back more than twice?) Most people that read her interviews, i’m betting, do not read every single one of them like we do. Even within this forum we haven't all read every single interview, so it’s almost like it’s a niche within a niche. I think people being interviewed recognize this, so they don't necessarily see it as repeating the same stuff over and over.

Plus, you think most people who are interviewed as much as she is keep perfect track of all their responses? I'm sure we are more familiar with her responses to interview questions than she herself is. I think, like most any celebrity, when she answers a question, she has a broader audience in mind, not the obsessive/fanatical core of fans. And i don’t think that she’s thinking of giving a satisfactory answer in the same way that we’d consider it satisfactory. In all honesty, we probably fucking freak her out some and she’s probably a little put off by us to an extent.

Not in those words, no, but:

So if someone mentions philanthropy more than once, according to what you wrote above, you expect them give the name of the organization, no? That's all i was pointing out. But i guess i have the answer to the why now (because you find it in poor taste).
