I'm not sure profound is the right word for Lana's lyrics in the same context as Dylan and Cohen. Dylan and Cohen are political artists, I don't think her writing is anything like theirs

Yeah, for example I remember Y&B sounded really monotone when she previewed it in that one interview.

Well, there was a lot of Gregg Alexander on Rick Nowels' site...

It seems like she had such a comfortable life as Liz. Hanging out in dat darn trailer park, wearing wigs and making videos, writing songs.... Just being a general menace. And then the occasional social work... Pretty sweet life.

More than anything, I am just curious as to where she is musically, presently. Like what is her current 'sound'.

I'm sure it's been established, that they were part of the same scene. They performed at the same clubs around the same time. As for being friends: I think not.
Have you heard "So Legit" by Lana? It's dissing Gaga quite intensely... There was a facebook post of Lana saying that she's a hater (referencing Gaga) - and then there's something I don't know enough about - a possible exboyfriend having an argument with Lana over Gaga... They definitely seem to have been rivals, rather than friends

well I'm also using magic tree as an example because it was just registered as "Magic Tree" and I thought it was an unleaked song too but then it ended up being a different version of y&b and I remember i saw they were registered at the same time - but we will see if it ever gets leaked or not! Haha

Is that why she's always using the same terminology in her songs? Because she frigging writes them on all out on her notepads? 'I always return to the same themes' I wonder why Lana, it's not like they're right in front of your face or anything... o wait

I've been wondering forever how a minor character from an extremely obscure, cult-classic video game for Gameboy Advance ended up being an emoticon here.
    This thread explains something.
And I really like the new Lana emoticons... they'll come in handy

I don't know, as the son of a businessman, forgiveness is kind of essential to business in itself. Can't get things taken care of if there's bad blood, but I get where you're coming from. I just don't think that Soileau's participation is a good source to determine whether or not Lana's evolved as an artist; I'm leaving that to ULTRAVIOLENCE, but I can see why people would be concerned. I just forget about music videos after a while, I usually let my imagination do it for me.

Either way, I do want to make it clear I'm not condoning what was said, because I did think it was scathing and insensitive. I just got a little frustrated because the whole Soileau thing is overhauling the topic. Not that I'm helping right meow.

I won't lie, there's a lot with Bradley's approach towards other people that leaves a bit of a foul taste in my mouth, such as his recent tweet about people "missing him" meanwhile they don't know him; definitely not a nice way to acknowledge positive reception. He seems to have a bit of a misanthropic disposition about him, which I guess makes him "mysterious" or "edgy" to some people. But you are right, a sour heart is a sour face, after all, but I think I'd have to actually sit down with him in person for myself to figure him out.

Oh my fucking god, I can never escape this song. #SoulMusic

To try to put it all together in one explanation; there was apparently a discrepancy of sorts with Lana's management and Bradley's participation in her music videos, something about getting axed from NA or what-have-you. Bradley had a Twitter meltdown and posted scathing and cryptic tweets that apparently had to do with Lana. It was disclosed that it wasn't about her, and was rather about Jeffree Star. Porcelain Black said otherwise, saying that it was actually about Lana. And for anyone who takes online-drama with a grain of salt, they simply don't care for him be it his looks or personality.

I don't give a shit about the tweets, really, nothing new was said that wasn't heard from 85% of the critics should it be directly disclosed that it was about Lana and not via word-of-mouth. I could say it had to do with Peaches from the Candy Cat Too in LA, I wouldn't know—because I'm not Bradley, Lana, or Porcelain, and there are all these stories and no one has any support other than their own take on what happened and whether or not their perspective asserts their devotion/fandom.

The two clearly worked things through if Lana's associating with him, and I fully stand by it not because I take a liking to Bradley and the two undeniably have on-camera chemistry, but also because it is a great demonstration of the power of forgiveness and Lana's fostering of goodwill. Oh, and it's also a testament to the fact that shit just happens with friendships and interpersonal relationships and everyone's guilty as fuck for saying something they shouldn't at one point or another in general, and not being Bradley doesn't make anyone exempt from that fact.

And it's actually quite sad that again, there's a lot of hate coming from fans. I would say it's ironic with Lana's fanbase, but it's not ironic anymore, it's just sad. That's still another human being. I'm not saying we should all get together and have a jerk-circle about Bradley, but it really wouldn't kill anyone to just leave the antics of 2012/13 behind, especially because it doesn't involve anyone enough to be digging it all back up with such vehemence; negative vehemence, at that.

It's cool if people don't dig Bradley, people can have their opinions, but we can at least save the shit-talk for a bad movie-sequel or an underwhelming cheeseburger.

    ANYWAY.

Have any West Coasters given their take on what the "saying" might be that Lana's referring to? I'm actually interested to see if there's any that exist that she might say, or if she has one of her own for the sake of the song; like, in NY, we have "Fuhgeddaboudit," (well, more-so Brooklyn, but still.)

I dont hate or like him tbh. I actually dont give a fuck about him. He was a good choice for BTD, hes photogenic, but hes really not my type and he needs to eat a burger.

If he spun around slowly behind her during a whole tour on stage it wouldnt bother me. If he vanished off the face of the Earth tomorrow it wouldnt bother me.

Lana could be running around with a cardboard box in the West Coast video for all i care, i just want to hear the fucking thing.

    xo.

I can't find the interview right now (but it was on Lana Del Rey Brasil's Facebook page) but she did say in an interview that she just likes when things are easy and when people are nice to her and she doesn't care why they're nice to her. That sounds really shallow and really sad.

Yeah, it probably was directed towards Lana. As effed up as it is for him to say those things, I do feel sorry for him somehow. He must not have had the easiest of times. I guess you only inflict pain upon others if you yourself are in pain. It speaks volumes of Lana's character that she's forgiven him (assuming she knew what's been said and done on his part.) Or is it her penchant for bad boys taking over? "I like it when you treat me mean"
I think Born to Die and Blue Jeans are magnificent music videos and both Lana and Soileau are just visions in them

What I was going to write:
It makes me sad for Soileau that people have such negative opinions on him. Him and Lana are clearly fine, isn't that saying something? If he really was targeting her in his rant, I find it truly amazing that she has forgiven him to the point of having him be a part of yet another video. He stated that his rant was targeted at Jeffree Star, whom he was in an aggressive feud with over Porcelain Black just around the time of his rant. Soileau called the person he was targeting a "speed fairy." I definitely don't get this ("speedy") vibe from Lana. His target is "on drugs floating around L.A." Lana wasn't even living in L.A. at the time, she was based in the U.K. And on drugs..? I truly find that doubtful. But then again, how would I know. And also the "everyone that meets you fucking hates you" .... Again, I have a very hard time relating this to Lana. Having just listened to a Jeffree Star track "no talent diva" kinda makes sense

But! Having read Porcelain Blacks twitter rant at her ex (they love those rants) - she clearly outed his ass. According to her, his tweets were targeting Lana due to bitterness over being axed from the National Anthem video... And furthermore, she claims (somewhere else) that he was abusive and violent towards her... Which breaks my heart.

What's my point? Hmm. I have none. Except for the fact that I guess Soileau did have it out for Lana? Which makes me very   seeing that she's working with him again. AND (sorry this is long, but I dunno where to find that "spoiler" function) the drug related accusations make me feel like a massive, glimmering question mark.
