I don't think the leaks are intentional but I do believe they're not that actively fought against - because of the publicity / promotion angle? I don't know, maybe. Or maybe simply because they're ultimately not that important to them; I really don't know.

I mean, this is a professional artist who, during her relatively brief career (in the public eye, I mean), has had around what, 150? 200 leaks? It's not normal and doesn't make any sense to me. If she and her team - and most especially her label, who invested money on her and surely has every interest in getting it back with profit - were that concerned about it, they could have done a lot more to prevent more recent songs from leaking imo - not allowing so many people to have access to / keep the songs, take legal action in order to discourage further leaks, etc. Fool me once, shame on me; fool me twice...

How else do we explain that pretty much every other artist of her calibre manages to control this type of thing to a certain extent? How is she always the only apparently defenceless victim in all these leaking sprees?

I can't find any other explanation. Either that or she's surrounded by a bunch of utter incompetents.
Or, yeah, she's leaking them herself, grabbing the popcorn and laughing herself silly reading all the ensuing tumblr & twitter meltdowns.

EDIT: FYI, this is by no means an apologist take on the leaks. Since this is all speculative, my default position is - I assume they're unwanted & can potentially be harmful to her, so imo it's ethically wrong and irresponsible to leak all this recent stuff.

Art direction focuses on things like costume design, make up, the actual look of a video eg. colours, style ect.

Cinematography is more about how something is actually shot/photographed using a camera.

  12. elllipsis liked a post in a topic by YUNGATA in Lana's song not on A$AP Rocky's album...
why don't you do your research before making such outlandish statements? A$AP Rocky has been working with ASAP Mob since 2007, his debut mixtape came out in 2011 and was extremely well reviewed. If anything A$AP brought Lana more attention from devoted hip-hop fans who would otherwise not listen to her. He has always had a lot of respect from the hip-hop community and to say that he owes his success to lana is frankly a little insulting.

It's a masterpiece, no lie. The storyline, the characters, the setting (LA decadence, hell yeah), the perfect soundtrack. Just .
Already played it a few times choosing different clans and the best / most interesting one is Malkavian, for sure.

I second Gnecco & Carney. Preferably both at the same time.
Those onstage dynamics sure would be interesting to watch...

    Seriously though, let's see:
David Lynch - because why the hell not and I can see them creating pretty bizarre / twisted melodies & lyrics; oh, and the music video would quite simply slay. Iggy Azalea - I'd love a duet in some Off To The Races-like track and also they're both so fucking hot I want to see them get dirty onstage. Nicolas Jaar - because it's such an improbable combination, the results could be really interesting & beautiful.

I think the point of controversy is the cover and not so much the article. And sure, we can turn this into a racial issue but that would be oversimplifying imo; for instance, does American media usually try to 'humanize' Muslim killers as well?

Personally, I don't think censorship and/or misinformation by willingly sticking our heads in the sand when the subject at hand gets too disturbing or controversial is the way to go, ever.

On the other hand, I do understand why the cover shocks and enrages so many people; not so much because of the so called 'glorification' or 'rock star treatment' of a killer but for the reasons that New Yorker article pointed out - because this particular monster actually looks human and doesn't quite fit our mental image of a mass-murderer, which makes everything all the more troubling and difficult to deal with.

    Just my 2 cents anyway.
