The whole collab discussion is often fun but way unrealistic or ends up deceiving when it happens. when a collab is for her album, it needs to fully embrace the sound / spirit of it; she also needs to have some fun doing it, like the Jack- Taylor snow song (that she doesn’t even seems to love); and when she collabs with another artist, I don’t know why, but she often ends up painting herself in the corner of providing background vocals to the whole song, which is super deceiving. at least, BoZ kinda hinted that the numerous collabs for this album put her on the front, which we haven’t heard in a while.

I find it hot how protective they are of her

To me, it’s a UV meets VB type of song… Yeah, I’m bound to be disappointed

So, Neil posted his 2022 recap on his stories and he began shooting for Lana in March 2022… The picture was one of the ocean 🌊 is it anything other than the ocean waves pics found in the physical copies… or something else?!?

I’ve been listening to the SYML track she sampled and I really like it: reminds me of the Amelie Poulain soundtrack

Well, don’t underestimate LanaBoards for hating the « new Lana sound » seriously, all I want is bigger production and the title track is already giving me that

Maybe a magazine cover beginning of January?

For any artist other than Lana, I can wait until release for the tracklist. But for Lana’s albums, It’s fun, to imagine how some songs sound based on their title alone, before release. And to claim some songs (even though I’m almost always wrong about the songs I think I’ll love the most vs reality ). but more exciting to me is the song lengths And just knowing that many songs are over 5 min, that one is 7 min+, I already love this album

This is the first album we don’t have the tracklist with the preorder and although this is the most exciting moment of any pre-release for me, I’m surprisingly fine without having it yet. I really loved when we learned about the tracklist of LFL through magazine interviews… (even though she scrapped Yosemite while it was her favourite and had talked tremendously about it ). I wouldn’t be mad if we learned some titles through a magazine interview again before the big reveal of the last titles.

I get that VB is not for everyone. For me, it was a dream come true: I love trippy slowburners of a song, and this ticked all the boxes. Cruel World was the closest she had dwelled into that genre before VB, but those alt guitars Knocked it out of the park for me. Yes, the lyrics are bland on their own, but it’s a song about getting high: pretty normal they’re not Shakespearean. But again, I know that not everybody will love those vibes. but to read some Video Games slander is a bit surprising to say the least it’s not even my fave from her, I can spend many weeks without listening to it, but I still love it anyways and when the feeling is right, VG hits hard. anyways, back to topics: I do hope that some of the trippy guitars from VB and the end of MAC will be on this album. anyone else feels like the « Honeymoon from hell » caption from Jack’s IG story was about them recording American Whore?

What if the Lana sample BoZ was talking about is at the end of the title track? I relistened to that song today and the ending reminds me A LOT of Dance Til We Die (you know, the interesting part , the bridge)

I haven’t read the interview but I doubt it. Doubt Courtney even thinks it. but, to be fair, when UV was out, with its unapologetic lyrics, with her weird interviews (whether she was misquoted or not), with its tragic undertone, I was sure that by the time she was 40, we’d find that Lana had ODed or something on her bathroom floor Glad I was mistaken though and all her other albums after that reassured me.

I still can’t believe we’ll get a new album in two months. after her COCC interview with Annie Mac, after QFTC, I was sure she needed a break after COCC (and she wouldn’t have been wrong - she seemed so drained, so exhausted in that interview, so misunderstood). But she doubled down with BB and DYKTTATUOB. We are blessed with this woman.

To me, they were part of a new album to come. When she commented on the leak, she did say that there were songs that were meant for the next record. I don’t know if, back then, she needed to have a couple of songs under her belt that could be part of a new album, like she did with UV, HM and so on.

When it comes to Lana, it’s always going to be difficult to determine which songs were meant for which album because she records all the time. The day HM was out, she took a break in the studio to give an interview. But that doesn’t mean that that song was meant for LFL. And I don’t even think Lana herself could provide answers to what songs were part of which project, because she records songs until she has a clear idea of what she wants the album to be… until it changes again. For example, is Serene Queen part of LFL or an early song prior to it? another point to consider: if Lana is dating a musician while recording, the sound and songs of the album can be heavily influenced… and even more so if they breakup mid creation (Barrie, GEazy…). the untouchable 5 were meant for Paradise’s follow up, until the leak, that we know because she commented on it. But who knows if they would have been on it after she had met Dan (and without the leak)

COCC is her most cohesive album to date… and yet, in the Interview mag, you feel like she wanted the album to have more of a « second part », one where things would shake up a bit (with Dealer)… and it didn’t happen. NfR is diverse enough and more enjoyable as a whole IMO.

It’s a bit of a miracle that this website is still running. And it’s all thanks to Elle and the mods. When Love leaked, Lana’s team was sure it was Eclipse’s work and that LB was involved (when it wasn’t the case).and it’s one of the situations that happened before. A WP wouldn’t be enough when it is a « stick to the rule or the site is shutdown permanently » kinda situation.
