Totally agree. When songs have been finished, I like them most of the time. There a few I adore, but most of them are just meh. I don’t get when everyone on LB loses their shit when a bland demo leaks or an unfinished concept and everyone is like: “it’s better than half of (insert the album it could have been part of)!!!” Like, no, it’s not. With a lot of unreleased, I think it’s the “One that got away” syndrome that is in full effect: had those been released on an album and we wouldn’t even be talking about them most of the time.

Totally agree: I have no clue whatsoever what this album will sound like. I guess it brings back the mystery of her early career, which isn’t a bad thing, but we also got contradictory info so far: wordy, conversational, angry, automatic singing? composing? Jack messing with the 808s, Rob, piano, Drew, ethereal, epic, San Francisco, talking about and channeling a lot HM… and the glamour dark pics from W magazine.

Maybe Rob’s part will be on LDr10? a whole album with him and It could be called Daddy Duets…

Ngl, yes to Heaven doesn’t sound as interesting as it first was to me: too many versions, it’s a very simple song lyrically. Fine China though still sounds as beautiful as the first time I heard it.

Maybe she is releasing another “bridge album”, the way LFL was a bit of a mix of everything she had done with the first three albums and a bit of what’s to come. Maybe LDR9 could be a more cohesive LFL, with a mix of everything the last three singer -songwriter albums have been and a pinch of new? Because right now, the info we got feel a bit contradictory, about the sound of it all.

LDR9 could still be coming this year if its in the final phase of mixing. Didnt she record Sweet Carolina at this exact time last year and we got it in October? Of course no one knows for sure how far she is in the process so we’ll have to wait and see i guess.

I know a lot of people don’t like when leaks end up on an upcoming album, but Fine China is lyrically so good, it deserves to be officially out at some point. Plus there are probably many reworked versions of it that it could still feel newish

When This album came out, I was going through a Bad break-up, where I learned in the end I had been cheated on. UV became the soundtrack of that weird summer, where i had to learn how to ne okay again. The fire, the guitars, the cynism of the lyrics, the overall brutality of that relationship was oddly enough so soothing to hear. Cruel World was my fave cause i was relating to the lyrics so much (shared my body and my Mind with You, that’s all over now). UV was the start of a weird “star alignment”, where each album was out thé moment i needed them, with her almost narrating my own life (NFR probably was the last). it’s a masterpiece, one that still sounds fresh after 8 years.
