I love how welcoming LB is

Bah, i wouldn’t be, if I were you: remember the Marina collab we all thought was sure bet when she was making NFR and posted on her IG a photo of her, Jack and Marina? Could be just because Taylor was hanging around with Jack for his birthday. With Lana, No collab is 100% sure.

Arcadia sure is an incredible lyric tour-de-force. And yeah, she could add a couple of body-compared-to-LA references to the album Maybe LDR9 will also have the rock Candy sweet lyric spread throughout?

Agreed! I loved LFL and its messiness because well, it was a messy time of my life as well. Plus it was a mid-summer album and I like more diverse music when the air is hot. Granted, some of the last additions are really not that polished or as good as many other tracks, but they are good “easy-to-listen” songs to vibe to. After HM, she needed a change of pace (love HM, but a second ethereal album like the LFL demo would have been a lot to process for the GP lol) Don’t worry, hun: Eclipse also

Let the gay gods hear you. In my case, the scarring 11-month wait ended up with my fave album from her, so it helped forget the frustrations of the pre-release. however, the last two albums were an improvement (though imperfect), so I’m having “faith”. Plus there’s nothing else at the moment in her way to “delay” writing and recording (no touring). The last posts made me optimistic that she has a good idea where she wants the album to go. yes yes yes!!! We need summery Lana back.

HM is her most cohesive. Periodt. LFL is easily her least (which might be why it is so hated here by so many). But I find all of her other projects just diverse enough. Not trying to convince anyone here: we’re all entitled to our opinions.

Whether people like it or not, there was some “unfinished business” after COCC (Lana said so herself, that the pandemic made it hard to work with him from a distance). I’m surprised he found the time to be the main producer (i guess) for LDR9.
-
very nice analysis!!! If I may, I might add to your observations, that she did say in interview that COCC was the album when you are at a standstill, therefore explaining why there isn’t any mode of transportation on the cover. Same with BB, which is also the album “about the pandemic” and, well, nobody was moving at that time, and it’s the album where she makes peace with her past (and sometimes present) traumas. Even the alternate cover, with the 🚜, why is very slow, further confirms your theory. again, your analysis is beautiful and makes a lot of sense

No matter how LDR9 sounds, I really think she needs a hit with this one. And by hit, I mean the album reaching a billion streams on Spotify before our ballsacks are all sagging or our tits hanging (looking at you, HM, COCC and BB as much as I love those projects, they will reach that milestone when I am retired or dead).
-
I heard about that too. Don’t think she ever confirmed it to be true either. White Mustang becoming why am I stayin’ at the end of the song would make sense… but is it intentional on her part? Or is she just enunciating weirdly? Anyways, if the locals find her genius because of that, I won’t be the one to contradict them

At the moment, the biggest misconception for many of us might be that Rock Candy Sweet was sounding much more different than Blue Banisters, that RCS was the revenge album and BB is not. i do believe that RCS or BB always was intended to tell her past, and this is her sweet revenge: revenge on her mother and to critics (Arcadia and BBS do address the later particularly). As for the sound of RCS, we all thought it would sound angrier or more summery because of the title and the supposed release dates. But with the songs that were considered initially, they don’t scream that. Even LYTAN, with the RCS line, is probably another ballad, if the rumoured lyrics are true: « I loved you then and I love you now, I’ve always been there for you, don’t give up on me ».

That Lana is depressed. Melancholic? Sure. Depressed? No.

You made my day, hun

that country project makes me nervous as fuck. I loved all of her projects so far and connected to them on various degrees (like everyone else I guess), but country is not the genre I prefer at all. I’m always shifting with this project : some days, I think it could sound okay or even good, and other days I really don’t want her to dwelve in that genre at all. It’s almost like a « cloud on the horizon », that damn country LP. I just hope she releases the covers alongside to « smoothen things up » if I don’t like the country part, and that she releases Hey Blue Baby.

I’m always a bit baffled when someone mentions LDR9 could be NFR 3.0, because I really don’t consider Chemtrails to be NFR 2.0… Granted, there is a bit of « minimalism » on some Norman songs, but the stripped down prod is really more proéminent on COCC… and on Norman, there’s the mellotron and California vibes that are totally absent on COCC. anyways, I’m expecting a single by the end of summer.
-
I’m totally fine with Jack being on board. I just hope they either come up with a different sound (just like Norman and Chemtrails are almost opposites), or they bring back the best elements of these two records (Venice, Mac, NFR, FIILY, WD, COCC, TJF). But knowing her, I doubt the later option will happen.

If we’re making up things now, we should make them believable : 10 songs with a MV directed by Chuck and myself. Teaser coming later later.

i didn’t see anybody move on this (maybe because of the date or the Cult Leader leak), but what interests me, if the info is true, is that there are three other songs she submitted to HBO alongside WCE… and I think those could be what Eclipse and a couple of others heard, months ago… Maybe they are part of LDR9?
-
Can’t believe it’s actually happening…
-
I’d love it if she redo the song and took on the role of the cult leader

For the first time in like 5 years, I have been able to watch a few… and most of them surely ain’t in my fave movies of the year. The Oscars usually focus on a lot of small productions that are very forgettable in the end.
