Yeah I’m sure there’ll be some fuck ups with copies that will be sent way too early because they didn’t get the memo… it’s gonna be another BB fiasco. Billboard should rechange some rules about their numbers: preorders for vinyls or CDs should count as week one and not count the week they are sent. That way, we could get back to the good old days of short pre-releases like HM.

@Alison by Slowdive you are too kind and a delight to read There are so many wonderful souls here, and you are amongst the lipsters that make me want to come back here everyday, whether things are slow with Lana or not. i love this community so much. shoutouts to the wonderful admins that make it possible. @Elle @Beautiful Loser especially. You are always so respectful and generous, I can’t express how much gratitude I have for you two. -
To me, and it’s only speculation, the RCS / BB album always was about telling her own story, in her own words. So maybe the line RCS refers to her, in the title? (She is sweet like rock Candy- like in WCE ) As far as we now, there is no song called Rock Candy Sweet. But maybe the line was in another track as well, making it the album title? true, all of her albums have a title track; but that album is so weird in its creation timeline (she was recording covers, began recording new songs, wanted them on an album, tossed aside the cover album, considered many outtakes from previous eras on the new LP, continued recording, tossed aside many outtakes, had a « clearer » vision of what the story was about…) that I’m not even sure that the usual title track was supposed to be a thing at first…

From what BoZ said, RCS is a line from Loved You Then and Now, that was on the original tracklist of Chemtrails and then was supposed to be on the next album. RCS, from what we know, had many different tracklists that changed overtime. Fine China, I can Fly and Wild One were all considered at some point. my speculation is that she wanted to have a new album made of outtakes from previous eras, with a couple of new songs (which seems to have been created when she was recording her cover album). But I guess she kept going at it and recorded new ones she loved too much, therefore putting aside some outtakes. we also know that Barrie contacted her to have Riverside on his album and she asked him if she could use four songs that they did together in the UV era (Cherry Blossom, Living Legend, If You Lie Down With Me - which was only a demo at the time- and Summer Wine). i do wonder when did she meet Drew in the process… Was it while recording her cover of Buddy’s Rendezvous or had she met him prior to that? One thing is for sure: their meeting sure changed the direction of RCS / BB.

Congrats to all the winners!!! You all deserve it! i must say that my favourite categories were the petty ones and VB supremacy -
A&W would be a dream, as a second single, but I don’t think it will be it (my dream would be that A&W is released at the same time we can preorder the boxset with the alternate cover ) Like you said, it’s true that The Grants would follow her pattern, in previous releases. I’m not as excited for this track at the moment, I’m still scared it could be too « specific », a bit like Sweet Carolina, even if BoZ said it was beautiful. But I must say I’m warming up to it. I think it’s for that one we got lyrics this week by Kintsugi, and I really love what I read though… based on their length alone, Sweet or Godfather could be single-material. Candy Necklace, feat Jon Batiste, would attract attention for sure since he is a Grammy winner. but hey, it’s Lana: she could release Peppers for all we know.

To me, although the shortest, February is the worst month of the year: it’s the heart of winter and I always get my winter blues there. I hope a single is coming somewhere in that month to help me get through with it. anyways, The National has released Tropic Morning News, the lead to their new album First Two Pages of Frankenstein (very Lana title btw) and it’s superb. It took the edge off waiting for Lana’s with not much to hold on to

Yeah charts don’t always equals quality. I like to talk about it for the « politics » of it or trying to figure out what is Interscope’s possible « strategy » when it comes to her releases. But hey, let’s not kid ourselves : I’m sure they’re gonna come up with a new way to fuck up her numbers anyways besides, Norman wasn’t number 1 on week one but word of mouth got so strong that I think it got to the top spot like 3 weeks after anyways… Im curious how the critics are going to respond to this album.

Are you spreading false rumours too, like that Twitter account?

So… March 2?

I can’t remember if there was as much fighting and bickering in other pre-release threads, between posts by insiders

I know everybody is doubting it, but I don’t see the album out without a second single first. Even Chemtrails had two before release (for a shorter album). The first single was out before the end of year: once the new year starts, you have to have another single out; everything before new year is almost « forgotten » by the GP. Another single is mandatory to jog people’s memory (that’s why artists sometimes wait until January to release the lead, so people might remember it more). true, this album doesn’t scream « single material », making it possibly harder to find one song to single out without the context of the album. But there must be one that would create buzz around the album (UV is having a revival these passed months, Dealer was a TikTok favourite… A&W seems to be channeling the same wild side… or Maybe Grandfather, since it is not a very long track and has maritime references like MAC had)

This album seems to have been influenced by FJM’s Chloe and The Next 20th Century (Drew was involved with both, strings, piano, a bit vintage in sound, Lana and FJM are featured on the other’s album) Maybe the boxset will be similar to FJM’s? (Although it cost me a little fortune ) Two coloured vinyls, two single vinyls for the covers (imagine an outtake of Lana’s album on an exclusive vinyl ) and an incredible booklet of pictures… I can totally see that for Ocean Blvd.
