I was just thinking... people speculated that Chuck recently or is going to shoot the 2nd album cover soon (going by that IG story), but that would mean they’re cutting it close. Maybe the shoot already happened and that car request was meant for something else because doesn’t it take time to process physical copies of an album?

This is my favorite arrangement so far. Although IYC or Stronger could be one or both of those two new songs. So now we have 2-3 songs we’re not aware of. Also- I really can’t remember the tracklist people are talking about. Maybe someone saw it on Twitter/Reddit?

Wow.... we really could’ve had Cinnamon.... I’ve only listened to Hope a handful of times... ugh. I agree! Maybe it was planned but I think it had to do with schedules lining up. Idk why, but I feel like she mentioned something concerning that? Maybe I’m imagining shit. But anyway, filming def had to have happened recently.

Do you guys think we’ll get updated merch for NFR? I loved the embroidered black hoodie for LFL, but thought the other jackets and shirts were a bit too simple. I doubt she’ll have the energy for it this time around (lol), but what do you all think?

You know, this thread is really depressing because of shit like this. It’s really one thing to dislike something, but it’s another to kill the hype or enjoyment for others when all they want when they visit this thread is to have productive discussions about Marina’s work or get news about the tour or just fuck around and laugh. I’ve lost the hype concerning Lana, but I’m not going to be dragging others down by constantly saying “the NFR promo is bad” and telling people to “get over it.” I think it’s been done 295710 times enough and if someone’s happy at this point that we’re getting anything at all, then that’s fine. And you know what? Cool if any of you respond to the posts I just made, but I’m not going to respond because I can already predict it’ll be a repeat of what you already said. I’m just done with this thread.

Mmm, here's the thing about this quote though that you're referencing. I think we went over it many pages ago how some of us really don't get those faux-vibes concerning her lyrics. I used a comparison to Lana as an example- the reason why I believe Marina over Lana concerning political lyrics is because Marina is consistent with what her stances are. She's been open about her thoughts concerning politics and questions about human nature in interviews, whereas Lana is still wishy-washy when serious topics are brought up. Cheaply-produced? I mean I can hear how she's influenced by the sound of Clean Bandit since she's worked with them and is close to them (because of Jack), but just because it sounds more mainstream than her previous work doesn't mean it's cheap. The existence of End of the Earth alone makes me go "???" at this statement. Poorly-written? I mean, I still hear Marina in her lyrics. I believe the person who wrote To Be Human is the same person who wrote Immortal: I like to think about how we all look from afar People driving fancy cars look like beetles to the stars The missiles and the bombs sound like symphonies gone wrong And if there is a God, they'll know why it's so hard --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- But if the Earth ends in fire And the seas are frozen in time There'll be just one survivor The memory that I was yours and you were mine I believe the same woman who did the unique vocal delivery on the chorus of Homewrecker or Shampain, also experimented with Emotional Machine's and Karma's chorus. And then the whole "shows no advancement in her career"- I mean I'll take the state of mind Marina's currently in now compared to the start of her career as progress in itself. In Numb, she was very candid about her depression, in Fear and Loathing, she wants to break free from it. In Happy, she's trying out new things to get out of that dark place and is trying to find peace. In Soft to Be Strong, she finally discovers how important it is to accept the vulnerable side of yourself, and how it actually brings you strength and peace. I think people are too caught up in how "current" the production sounds, and I get that people probably miss her unique production, but I honestly don't mind the laid-back direction she's taken. I have confidence she still has the passion for it and can write as introspective as she did during the beginning of her career. It just doesn't take away my enjoyment of the album though, because I'm taking it for what it is.

Idk if it’s been discussed much yet, but I’m surprised Lana has mentioned anything on social media concerning A$AP Rocky since he’s been arrested.

Lust for Life has its highlights, but it’s still my least favorite album. I think if she released Summer Bummer/Groupie Love as stand-alone singles OR released them along with IMF and Coachella in a small EP (still believe Coachella is her worst single to date), and instead placed RBFY and Yosemite on the album, it would’ve been brighter and felt more cohesive. I know people love Rick’s work, I do too, but some songs desperately needed a bit m o r e in production (Love) and a change in lyrics (LFL).

Honestly, I usually don’t believe the rumors, but like you said... it wouldn’t be surprising if these song lyrics are actually on the album & the supposed release date. And if they are... oooooph.

You’re missing the entire point people are trying to make. People aren’t cool with the unprofessionalism attached to this release, so obviously people are going to be vocal about possibly not being interested in future releases. There are plenty of artists I enjoy whose music I stopped listening to for various reasons- some have passed, some alive, some who just quit music. Some did some fucked up shit and I stopped looking forward to new music. Some I’ve stopped because I prefer listening to different genres/artists at a specific time of the year. Does that stop me from enjoying the music I have of them? No. I think it’s as simple as “life happens”. No one expects a whole much from Lana concerning her work ethic at this point, they’re just frustrated and vocalizing that. If that triggers anger in you, then I’d recommend going to a different thread or to talk about what you DO like to change the subject or start a different topic. Because these reaches are... not productive. Hope I don’t offend you in saying this, but you usually reply to members who vocalize their discontentment with how things are going with this album and you get really defensive about Lana at times when people are just trying to explain themselves. Just something I noticed. A bit of a pattern at this point, dude. Less than a year~ lolz

I think that was my post- that photo is iconique. Also it’s amazing how a person can forget this thread at any time and it’s the same. No updates, people in despair. It’s torture. lol She HAS to say something in the upcoming weeks if it’s truly coming in August. We’ll probably be unlucky tho and get the album the very last week of that month. Aug. 24th = album Sept. 16th = poetry book Let’s speak this into existence.

The movie comes out in November, so I think the earliest they’ll release the track would be late August/September. Then they would release more singles and eventually the entire soundtrack around the time the movie’s in theaters. I’m just going by how they did it with other movies with soundtracks that have big artists on it~ oh and this actually has me thinking... To add to the messiness and poor business decisions for the era, (going by the hypothetical timeline) do you guys think the release will overshadow or help NFR?
