I don’t really get the message of “enjoy the issues you have”, but rather accept the issues in your life to enjoy the positive aspects of it. And I get more of a general attitude from it. I don’t get it as a song specifically directed toward people with terminal illnesses. Also- although people with debilitating illnesses will suffer mentally/physically, they need to be provided with emotional support whether it’s laughter, or encouraging them to continue the everyday things they can, or simply telling them it’s OKAY to rest and not have a good day. That bit of positivity won’t cure any of us, but it helps when you’re trying to heal. It’s not saying to ignore the grim situation you’re in, rather what can you do to make it through tomorrow? What can you do to make it tolerable, and make what you have enjoyable, no matter how much time you have left? Btw this is what I get from EYL from Marina. For some reason it doesn’t bug me as much as BPBP by Lana does. Idk, Marina seems more socially aware and mature than Lana. Maybe that has something to do with it.

I’m loving all the songs! True is probably the only one I haven’t warmed up to a lot, but I also love the message. I’m obsessed with Enjoy Your Life; I really needed a song like this at the moment and I’m sure a lot of other people too. Unpopular opinion, but I don’t mind the production of the new songs, I can really vibe with what Marina is going for. I can’t believe she’s going to serve us another album soon!

Did she ever explain why she’s only releasing songs from Love? I’m really curious about that...

Norman Fucking Rockwell - Pre-Release Thread

Meh. This is why she thinks she can get away with doing the minimum. Everyone’s in love with a snippet of a song she probably has no idea of when she’ll be releasing. I’m not impressed this time around and don’t get your hopes up that she’ll give a non-vague album update. That’ll only happen if the poetry book gets done soon, and I doubt that. -

I wasn't talking about you. I was talking about how people who’ve been recently ranting about her have in a way given her free promo because people like you who haven’t heard anything about her are probably going to want to know who she is since people on this thread keep talking about her. Sorry if my response was confusing. -

So, ironically you guys spamming this thread with your rants about Billie and the label are giving this girl free promo. Lmao -

I thought about this some more, and although it's very plausible that this is the reason this era has been messy, I have a few small problems with it. It'd be too ironic since Billie's album isn't as "happy" or "mainstream pop" as other artists her age- just as Lana's debut with them wasn't either. They've wanted her to change producers, change the sound of her music throughout the years, but they know by now that Lana will still sell albums and tickets because she has a strong fan base and they love what she puts out. Yeah, this is Billie's first album so they probably did want a period of time for most of the public focus to be on her, but still, why not set Lana's date before the 29th? Lana said herself the album was done in January. It really has to be the poetry book. Add to the great reviews Lana's been getting- more praise than what she's gotten in years- it'd be really strange for them not to take advantage of the hype to release NFR. Ariana did it in an even less time b/w albums, so why not Lana? I didn't even think Hope is a Dangerous Thing would be as well known as MAC or VB but we've seen a lot of people online talking about it, praising it, sharing and listening to it. With the release of MAC and VB, I think Lana always intended NFR to be lighter than her previous albums, but still maintain that "introspective sad girl shit". I don't think her behavior is tied to the label because we already saw hints of it during those interviews. "She's trying to get back at her record label for postponing her release in favor of rookie Billie after all her years of hard work putting out albums, and she's also building the world and image of NFR for us." And the thing about that is.... the visuals have been sub-par to me. Has she been building a world and image for this album (maybe for the poetry book), because I feel like I missed it... It's just not a successful attempt if the theories are true. Especially the "insta baddie" thing. If this is Lana being petty, she could do better because right now it's just cringey to me. I kind of remember people saying on here that Lana was actually the threat to Billie's release, and that Billie wasn't going to make the numbers she's making now because her fan base is too specific and smaller than Lana's. It's really awkward reading these posts now- and I've been a fan of Lana for years- it's weird to me that people are being threatened by a 17 year-old artist (love her music btw). I get the frustration, but let's not get carried away. -

I wonder who the source is..... has to be someone around them a lot since they know so much about Lana’s inner circle and how her friends feel about her bf. -

This whole NFR era will live in infamy. lol -
Hmm, this does make it sus. If this was her team’s way of getting promo right before the announcement for the casting, that’s gross and she needs a better team (them letting Offset crashing one of her shows already told us that tho). Her getting teary-eyed in the clip is also weird. Doesn’t it just cut off? Like what instigated that whole rant? Nonetheless, still a shitty thing for her to do back then. Her other actions like lying about this one MUA being high after the MUA spoke up about her bad encounter with Cardi and her team still rubs me the wrong way. Her response to this recent mess wasn’t that great either.... it’s all very terrible.

AMAZING. I love their lyricism; they’re so underrated. ;_;

This is what I want tomorrow the most. It’d be so weird if she’d ignore the rumors, but then again it wasn’t too long ago that she was like “who knows when it’s coming out?” So we’d probably get silence tomorrow on that too... Ugh. -
Hmm I knew there was a reason I didn’t bother buying Please Me. Loved Bruno’s part on it, but Cardi’s been doing some fucked up shit lately. And I know we’re all human and make mistakes (that old cliche), but drugging men to steal their money? How fucked is that? Also read something on twitter of a woman whose brother was drugged by two women who stole his money and car, and left him overdosing, and he died. Really messed up shit.

I just found out today that she did a cover of Here Comes the Rain Again! ;_; I hope we get more album news from her this year.

Wow, the violinist really captured what she wanted... "Play it as if you’re one of the birds in Snow White, singing underwater, while slowly being suffocated by plastic.” The talent jumped OUT.

Lana's lacking live performances - a discussion
poetic jess replied to Beautiful Loser's topic in Lana Thoughts
I dream of the day she does a small intimate venue tour. The backing track has to go. Her back-up dancers are fine to me- but only with the more upbeat songs. What she truly needs is back-up singers like others have said. Video Games can be the BTD staple, and like you guys said she can rotate b/w Born to Die, Blue Jeans, and Summertime Sadness as the second BTD song (throw in Million Dollar Man if she does the intimate venue thing). Idc how popular that album may be, but it's no excuse to ignore the 5 albums after that (I'm including Paradise~ I just wanna hear a live version of Bel Air). As for her vocals, although I enjoyed her performances when I went to see her three times, and I think she did improve during the LATTMT, I still think having a vocal coach wouldn't hurt. My show was great, but those recent live streamed festival shows reveal the flaws in her performances when she's having an off day. And she's been having a lot. It's confidence- but there's also that comfort zone that she settles into too much. It's disappointing when she relies too much on the backing track or points the microphone to the audience during half of a song. It's the same with meeting fans during the barricade. I'm happy she gets to see the same faces that make her feel at home whenever she tours, but what about the people who wait for hours to meet her for the first time, who want to give her gifts, or express how her music makes them feel in passing? Why ask the audience for a song request when she's going to sing whats already planned on the setlist? Also, maybe it was off camera, but why doesn't she give input when creating the setlist? Why does she leave it up to her band and dancers? I know it's scary to get out of your comfort zone when you have some form of anxiety, but this is a recent thought I've been having given my personal circumstances- sometimes we have to do what we're scared of in order to overcome it. Not challenging yourself means hindering progression. It doesn't happen over night, but things get easier to do. And I think that's what happened with Lana- whether it's in the studio or on stage, she's still having problems because of her internal issues. She's confident in her demeanor, but not in her decision-making. And because of that, others who may not have her best interest, or who gave in being "yes men", allow these issues to go on. That could probably be said about other artists too. And I'm sure we could give her credit for changing it up with dancers and putting more thought onto the stage design, but do those things matter when fans start to notice something's off about the effort shown in your performance? Anyway... idk maybe I'm thinking about this too much. lol -

I really don’t think it’s the label that’s preventing her from releasing NFR. Idk how people jumped to that conclusion simply bc she tweeted from her old twitter account. I just don’t get how after UV, they would again want her to change producers when the album is done and they let her do a quiet release with Honeymoon. I think she proved herself to them by then. Her fan base is pretty strong. Also why would they ignore all the critical acclaim she’s getting for this era? It’s been dry as hell, but musically it’s been amazing and this is the most praise she’s gotten for singles. I just don’t see it. She’s lagging it because of the poetry book and her damn lack of motivation.
